  1. Thanks for posting the great pics. Too bad Allentown is not like that today. Headquarters/assembly plant/engineering center = gone! At least the engineering building/grounds are being used by the Mack museum and as a customer center.
  2. That's me (the bald headed old fart with the light blue shirt) on Doug's left. It was a great show and great to meet some fellow BMT members.
  3. Doug is a star and his female co-star isn't bad either!
  4. Great pictures! Much better than mine. Thanks for posting!
  5. I made it to Macungie with my MH this afternoon. Wow what a show!! I was surprised to see so many trucks of all brands. I took 127 images today. The grounds are beautiful with trucks sitting everywhere. Words can't describe the show, you have to be here! Congrats to Doug and everyone else for putting this venue together.
  6. Well I am batting 1000 - got the pyrometer fixed. During removal of the old thermocouple I broke the fitting (I don't think it was ever changed). I had to drill out the hole and retap it. I installed the new thermocouple. When I connected the wiring lead I noticed one of the wires was broken. So I spliced the wires and checked it out. IT WORKS! The problem was the wiring harness but at least I have a new thermocouple and fitting. Life is good!
  7. I was able to get the light/gauge issue resolved. I jumpered a wire from the fuel gauge ground to the panel screw. Next week will be the "shakedown" run to Macungie. I changed the pyrometer and that did not resolve the temperature issue. I ordered a new thermocouple ($70) which I hope fixes this one. Thermocouple will be in next week and I will install it before I head to PA. I also installed a new radio. The new one is about an inch deeper than the old one. I had to cram 10 pounds of crap into a 5 pound bag.
  8. I agree but I have a soft spot for MHs Nice truck Neil. I think I saw it at Gerhart's last fall.
  9. I will be there with my MH and plan to arrive sometime Friday afternoon. I am staying at the Hawthorne Suites in Fogelsville.
  10. Phil, Thanks for the information about the wash and highway route. I thought about taking 322. I may give it a try. My main concern is the DOT and weigh stations. Running bare foot - no fuel sticker or permit just private vehicle not for hire decals and a copy of the DOT exemption. I may need bail money! I can't get off work Thursday or I would try to meet up with you somewhere along the way. BTW, I am staying at the Hawthorne Suites on Friday and Saturday nights so if anyone is staying there perhaps we can meet.
  11. I was driving east on the OH turnpike this afternoon and saw several "old" trucks headed west. Thanks for the offer Mike but I am coming from the north (I think). I am planning to drive east on I-80 and then south on the PA turnpike. Or does anyone recommend a better way from Canton, OH?
  12. I sent my registration check today. Planning to be there on Friday afternoon with my MH612. It will be in its "working clothes". Is there a truck wash nearby?
  13. Hi Greg! Sold it but bought another one (just like the other one only 7 VINs newer). I am a glutton for punishment!
  14. My MH has an EM7 300 Maxidyne with T2050 transmission. I too would like a few more gears but I am learning to let it lug around 1200-1000 rpm and shifting at 1600-1800 rpm. I am only bobtailing so it does a good job pulling its own weight at low rpms.
  15. I had a chance to briefly look at the MH on Saturday (the "honey do" list took priority). One thing I noticed is when you toggle the signal switch to headlights, the "high beam" lamp illuminates (as do the headlights). However when I use the dimmer switch to change from low to high beams the "high beam" lamp does not illuminate. The next time I get a chance I am going to try to disconnect the dimmer switch and see if this resolves the issue. Could there be short in the dimmer switch? I agree it is probably a ground issue but finding it will not be easy. Any additional suggestions are appreciated.
  16. How does one remove and install the weatherstrips at the bottom of the door side windows on a MH. These are the strips where you would rest your arm if the window was rolled down. I ordered new ones from my Mack dealer but they have no information on how these are replaced. The doors on the early CH are the same as the MH. Is a special tool required? Does the glass need to be removed? Also, does the moulding "whiskers" around the glass channel (sides and top) just slip/slide in or are they glued? TIA!
  17. Perhaps some companies do not want the actual numbers posted or have just declined to let Mack publish their names. Some private carriers like their "privacy". Just a SWAG and my 2 cents.
  18. There is a cowboy holding an axe near Jerome/Twin Falls, ID along I-84.
  19. Firemack - thanks for the great suggestions. It will be a couple weeks until I can check the ground (out of town on business).
  20. The list is starting of things that need corrected in my MH. 1. When I turn on the headlamps, the REVERSE and RH TURN indicator lamps illuminate and the fuel gauge goes to F (full). When the headlamps are on HIGH beam, the indicator lamps are brighter. I also noticed the HIGH beam indicator does not work (hopefully a burnt bulb). 2. The pyrometer does not register any exhaust temperature. Is the problem with the gauge, thermocouple, or wiring? Anyone have any suggestions on what to check or what are the problems? Thanks!
  21. I made it back home with the MH. Here is a picture that I took at Hagerstown Mack. P.S. Hatcity - too late for the cup!
  22. After an extended absence the bad penny is back in circulation. On Friday I am going to purchase another MH612 (from the same fleet as before). This one is seven (7) serial numbers later and is identially equipped as the previous one. It has been a long up hill journey that started in November 2010. I am dealing with Mother Mack and it is anything but enjoyable. I am paying more for this one than I sold the last one. I will be replacing alot of the same parts as on the previous one so it is going to get "real" expensive. But I had a bad case of "seller's remorse" and I did not want one of the last MH trucks going overseas. I know some of you on here aren't bothered by the fact that these trucks are being exported. I will post some pics once I get it home. At this time I plan to take it to Macungie in June. I have another event scheduled during Watt's show but am working on clearing the date so I can attend.
