  1. Dr. Don and the Museum comes thru again! A BIG thanks! 1. As best I can tell we did not sell all-wheel drive MH’s to anyone except UPS. This was a specific application; the purpose of the trucks was to shuttle doubles over the western mountain passes in winter weather. There were two GSO’s. 2. Engine: EM6-300 (300 HP @ 2100 rpm), Transmission: TRDL1070 (10 speed), Transfer Case: TCS15, Front Axle: SDA16 (Fabco 16K, 4.62 Ratio), Rear Axle: R170 (Rockwell 23K, 4.63 Ratio) 3. The specs are somewhat ambiguous as to whether they had a manual lock-up for the front wheel drive. I’m also not sure what the S stands for in TCS15; I’ll do some more checking on that and get back to you. Guys - remember the Museum in your donations.
  2. Good luck in your new endeavor.
  3. The computer will "derate and disable" the engine in EPA 2007 engines and later if any of the aftertreatment system is altered or removed.
  4. Are you suggesting removing the emissions aftertreatment equipment? If so, it is illegal to remove such equipment.
  5. EZ, Does a person need a "permit" to buy R134A in bulk?
  6. Not familiar with a RD...is the dimmer switch on the floor?
  7. Okay girls and boys...here is what Dr. Don S at the Mack Museum has to say: The UPS 4x4 MH tractors were built to be used to shuttle trailers over mountain passes such as Donner Pass on I-80 in California. Without doing a lot of research, I found 13 chassis record cards on two different GSO’s. The headlights were installed in the bumpers to comply with the 54” maximum height limitation. The normal grille openings for the headlights were filled with covers cut from a standard grille. You can see two of the cover attaching screws for the left cover panel on the MH612-003 photo. Thanks for another GREAT job by Don and the Museum.
  8. Welcome to BMT. My suggestion is to edit this post to just an intro. Then post your electrical issue in the Electrical forum.
  9. I had a bad experience with a trickle charger/battery maintainer. The charger showed full charge but the battery was dead (bad cell). As others have posted, check the batteries to be sure they are holding a charge, check cables, clean connections, and connect properly. If it still does not "crank" then you can start looking elsewhere. Until you confirm charge and connections it is a "shot in the dark". P.S. Since it is a U model, maybe you need to install them on the "right" side. Sorry Vinny!
  10. Remember, this is the guy who took his Superdog on a joy ride last year and had a "snow issue." My MH is "tucked away" and will not see daylighit until the snow and salt are gone. I just hope they are gone by May so I can get to York.
  11. The trim angle of the upper outer sections is different than the lower headlamp sections. But anything is possible. I sent a note to the Mack Museum to find out if they have any information.
  12. A friend told me "we are given a finite number of heartbeats. Problem is we don't know how many." My brother (just shy of 63) was walking along the road by our farm and fell over dead - massive heart attack. Sad news to hear of anyone but we can't get out of this world alive.
  13. My comment about the headlights was aimed (no pun) at the grille. I would like to know if the lower grille sections were "modified" or new moulds to replace the normal headlamp pieces.
  14. Thank you! It had "Ranch" on the door so I was thinking "round bale mover". Never thought about rectangular bale stacks.
  15. Wifey and I were in Tucson last week to escape the cold and snow. I was hoping to see some old Macks but never did see any. I did however see this strange looking truck while I was driving. Wheelbase is less than 100". Anyone know its purpose?
  16. I just noticed, the bottom pic looks like it was taken at the Mack Engineering Center.
  17. Thanks Rifleman for the info. I see the headlights are mounted in the bumper and not in the grille. Interesting...
  18. Mark....I will take an English muffin instead of rye but otherwise....yum yum!
  19. Speaking of TK....On a side note....got my "Hooters Hose Fix" last week. Wifey and I spent a week in Tucson. Ate at Hooter's twice! Wifey said "the food was good"...and I said "they serve food?" BTW, did not see any Macks but did see lots of airplanes, jets, and cactus.
  20. Quiet? This group? Never.... We are just mesmerized by the nice (and speedy) work on your B.
  21. Jim, Those look like Bustin steps.
  22. Rob is correct D7G had D3306T (91V DD and 92V PS) along with ROPS. D7F had D333T engine (DD 93N and PS 94N).
  23. Any Mack dealer should be able to get the correct matching steps. My MH uses steps and deck plate manufactured by Bustin (www.romcorp.com).
  24. Contact your local Mack dealer. They can order one specifically for your truck, but they are not cheap. Keep watching eBay and you may find one that will be close to your specs.
  25. Happy Birthday Joe! Enjoy your day. Let us know if you need help eating the cup cakes.
