  1. Here's a single rear axle alternative. Introducing the MACK® Granite® MHD 4x2 INDIANAPOLIS (March 6, 2013) – Mack Trucks today launched the MACK® Granite® Medium Heavy Duty (MHD) 4x2 model, offering a Class 7 or Class 8 solution for customers demanding a lighter yet rugged work truck. Introduced for the first time during the 2013 National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, the MHD 4x2, offered in a heavy-duty or medium-duty configuration, is the latest version of the MACK Granite® MHD launched in 2011. The MHD 4x2 is available now for order. “The MHD 4x2 offers a great option for customers needing a truck tough enough to manage their daily operations, but in a lighter weight configuration to increase their ROI,” said Curtis Dorwart, Mack vocational marketing product manager. Equipped with a Cummins ISL9 345 horsepower engine with a maximum torque rating of 1,150 lb.-ft., the MHD 4x2 provides the power, durability and reliability that customers equate with a Mack truck. A clean back-of-cab design helps the MHD 4x2 accommodate a wide variety of body options, including those required for utility, dump and municipal applications. The short bumper-to-tire distance offers front-end swing clearance and superior wheel cut – key for navigating tight turns in municipalities and construction sites. The galvanized steel cab of the MHD 4x2 is mounted on airbags and shocks so the driver stays comfortable during the workday. The MACK® Cornerstone™ chassis, built of high-strength steel alloy for a stronger, lighter frame, is offered in four frame rail thicknesses ranging from 7 mm to 11.1 mm.
  2. Happy you like the air and electric routing and clamping. We work very hard on consistent routing and are always trying to make it better. I'm surprised how many open holes are in the frame of the Freightliner. The battery cables are rubbing at the box.
  3. Be careful with the O-ring on the hose. We use the removal tool in the plant.
  4. We're currently building an order of 85 CXU's for Pitt Ohio.
  5. JB Hunt bought 70 CXU's. Roof fairing will be installed after delivery, These are the first Mack's I've ever seen them have, most are International or Freightliners. Coca Cola also bought some CXU's. I'll have to see if I can find any pictures.
  6. CXU613T (tag axle)
  7. Reiffton Fire Company, outside of Reading PA.
  8. Cool looking GU813E, MP8 with 5th wheel.
  9. Might be more potential for Mack in the military market with this. I would think it would need to be built in the US. Renault has a pretty big military defense business (insert French military joke here). Renault Trucks Defense to acquire French manufacturer Panhard STOCKHOLM--Renault Trucks Defense, included in Swedish truck maker Volvo AB's (VOLV-B.SK) governmental sales business area, said Thursday it will acquire French automotive manufacturer Panhard for an undisclosed sum. The transaction, which is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter, isn't anticipated to have any significant impact on the Volvo Group's earnings and financial position. Approval is required from the relevant authorities. Panhard is a private company which has a background in the car industry and specializes in manufacturing light transport vehicles adapted for defense operations. In 2011, Panhard reported sales of 81 million euros ($98.1 million) and operating profit amounted to EUR9.4 million. The company has about 300 employees. Renault Trucks Defense is included in the Volvo Group's governmental sales business area. The operation produces and sells vehicles adapted for operations in defense, security and international projects. Renault Trucks Defense has about 500 employees, mainly in France. http://www.panhard.fr/anglais/index.htm
  10. Mack Legacy is correct. Tom Davis was a VP who would have speced the truck for the show.
  11. Westport. The plant is about 5 minutes from Macungie.
  12. UPS had a order of a couple M-drives to try them out. M-drive is only available on the CHU & CXU, typically build around 15-20 per day. Hardly build any Eaton Ultra Shifts anymore.
  13. Mack Trucks will appear this week on National Geographic Channel’s new series America’s Lost Treasures. The episode, featuring a fully restored 1963 MACK® B-813 model, airs Wednesday, July 25 (9-10 P.M. ET/PT). During production, America’s Lost Treasures host Curt Doussett and the truck’s owner visited the Mack Trucks Historical Museum at the Mack Customer Center in Allentown, Pa. to meet with museum curator Don Schumaker for an assessment of the truck as they sought to discover whether the vintage bulldog was truly a lost treasure. “The truck is immaculate. By far, this has to be one of the most perfect restorations,” said Schumaker, who estimated only about 30 of the 930 B-813 models originally produced still exist and are restored. “You almost have to look at something like this as being priceless.” This classic Mack B-813 model is certainly an American icon, but is it a lost treasure? Tune in to National Geographic Channel Wednesday, July 25 (9-10 P.M. ET/PT) to find out. Click here to preview the America’s Lost Treasures episode featuring Mack Trucks. 15. Group Trucks Americas launches new “GTA News Minute” featuring the Grand Opening of the Mack Truck Stop at SteelStacks Group Trucks Americas is pleased to announce the launch of its new video series “GTA News Minute”. Group Trucks Americas is pleased to announce the launch of its new video series “GTA News Minute”. The inaugural news segment features the Grand Opening of the Mack Truck Stop at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. To watch, please visit the GTA News Minute YouTube Channel. More than 750,000 visitors attend events at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks each year. As of this June, their food and drinks at the outdoor events center will be served from a concession stand being “towed” by a full-size Mack Titan cab. “We came up with the design to cover the front of the concession stand with a high resolution graphic that looks exactly like a trailer being towed,” says Chris Criswell, Mack Trucks Quality Engineer and Project Manager of the Truck Stop Modification Team. Along with ArtsQuest, a non-profit which manages the Levitt Pavilion, Mack partnered with the Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) to make the Truck Stop a reality. The Volvo Group’s Dex used parts warehouse and recycling operation donated the Titan cab, and more than 40 students from four programs at LCTI spent months designing parts, sanding, and painting it in preparation for its installation at the pavilion. “I feel a lot of pride,” commented Derek Stringer, a student who worked on the truck. “My grandfather used to work at the SteelStacks, and now I have something at the Steel Stacks.” Kevin Flaherty, president of Mack Trucks Sales & Marketing North America, sees the Truck Stop as a symbol of Mack’s longtime heritage in the Lehigh Valley and its role – alongside Bethlehem Steel – in building America. He also expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to partner with LCTI and help the students build their experience in the areas of truck service, repair, and body work. “If they stay the course, they can really pick what they want in various parts of the country and have a guaranteed job,” says Flaherty.
  16. I blocked your truck for Audit. Typically trucks on large orders, new models or options, and the random truck get selected. They take in on road test and look for any issues to grade our manufacturing process. It was a pretty good truck, any issue that is found is then repaired. The truck should get shipped tomorrow (6/9). Hope your brother lets you drive it. Make sure to send a picture of the truck at work.
