That figures whoever wrote the article about the AI motors. I think they were talking about 2004 and he must’ve just got a bad one and was pissed off. Said they went through turbo and everything like crazy another theory. I don’t know if you saw the post I put up do you think that oil from, the compressor going through that vgt could be causing it to not work properly and why wrong that subject what AI parts are you talking about? What do I need to get if that’s the route I go

So if I’m right about the vgt it has the silver little barrel on top air lines running into it on drivers side it has a diaphragm on the front facing headlights that direction anyway … ther is oil coming out of that diaphragm seals are shit on the compressor I’ve takin it apart cleaned it whole nine but I’m wondering if that oil in the air lines isn’t affecting the way the vgt is functioning ???

The vgt is on drivers side correct it’s like an air valve with a silver barrel lookin thing on top ?

I hope so too I love the truck man and I will spend the time to fix it up and look nice and run great it wasn’t very well taken care of I got a good deal on it but he did a very good job hiding the things that where wrong the steering box came apart 2 miles from my house the day I brought it home it was carefully siliconed and painted I had to put new suspension on it 2 weeks after I got it wondered how that happend so did some research ask some folks about Hendrickson air ride and the air bags have stops in them … if you use the correct air bags if you don’t and use 1 with stops 8 inch and one with 4 inch and 2 with none it stresses suspension and caused it to slide an inch and a half and crack rear end case been a hell of a go not much quit in me that or I’m just too stupid to give up lol I appreciate u all I’m sure we will figure it out thanks

I gotcha I understand now what you’re saying and I can see that that manifold flow would stop now that I’m picturing this in my head I’m just trying to figure out how to eliminate some of the things that aren’t working anyway, so they’re either taking up space or leaking you know what I’m saying

Can these turbos be replaced on these motors with a different kind or is the motor programmed for these specifically? and I appreciate both of you for staying with me on this. It’s not over but what I did do yesterday and last evening the fuse panel was pretty corroded. I cleaned that and the fuses got all the crap off of them in the relays and I took contact cleaner to the injector pumps on the side of the motor. I sprayed a little bit of starter fluid around the boots and any of the clamps engine didn’t rev so I still haven’t found where the leak is. If there is one it is running better this morning. I also replaced the long airline running from the compressor to the dryer because that compressor is slinging a lot of oil so the lines are got oil in them and replace the return fuel. I don’t know if this helped or not or if it’s just a flute that it’s doing better I’ve got to change The compressor out eventually thanks fellas

Can the egr be completely removed and capped off? what kind of aftermarket support is there for this?

Hey man , I just appreciate you coming to the table with ideas we had 1 guy around here who was absolutely a 1rst rate Mack guy he loved um bout all he would work on. Well he got sick man ..the fella helping me out with this all he does is maintain a fleet of Mack super dumps he looked at me when he saw this motor and said he had honestly never seen one like it before so everybody involved is fishing thanks for the help keep it coming gona run it today see what happens !!

I don’t have a boost gauge in this truck first one I’ve ever had without one.. so I don’t know I took boot off front of turbo and there’s a smidge of oil not much at all egr is unplugged also the codes are a 4-5 code which is waste gate I think then signal codes to cylinders 15 codes 15 times everytime if there’s a leak in air to air I haven’t found it yet. Could it be electrical ? I’m just lost man and I’ve spent so much money already I’m a bit beat up but not much quit in me so

Thanks fellas again. I’m going take that pc of piping off and take a photo maybe you see something diff than I do. I did find a wear spot on one of the boots for air to air don’t know yet if that’s the leak or not getting ready to see. Also that red orange substance I am reluctant to to peel away at that silicon and see what’s under it but gona have to I’m guessing could be a crack in the egr cooler that would prolly not help the smoke and boost problem any. Ok so the exhaust manifold gaskets for these motors I have one on back order along with a turbo gasket are there any other gaskets within this turbo egr side that I should just replace while I’m in there ? Could cracked egr cooler be the problem? The codes thrown again where signal codes and waste gate code signal code read somthing like low signal cylinder 2 every time it’s hooked to computer it throws 15 codes 15 times every time !! thanks guys

It’s thick almost feels like chunky grease but I believe that’s a coolant line . Does all that egr stuff have to stay on the truck can all that shit come off since it’s deleted anyway. I owned road tractors for yrs cats Detroit and Cummins I know I sound like a greenhorn and on this Mack dump truck that’s cause I am …if you look at all the soot on the engine it’s all over did find one leak in exhaust manifold . What kind of gasket goes with that manifold Is it one I can make or is it special

Thank you fellas I’m gona build a a gadget today to pressure test it air to air was one of the things on the list that I thought could be a possibility. Along with bad injector any one of 100 sensors or turbo just failing I do have a leak at exhaust manifold we found as can’t believe I didn’t see this day of purchase looks like egr has been jb welded there’s a lot of black soot all over the engine I’ll start with air charge

My chn 613 427 I’m losing power and blowing black smoke at lower rpm’s I know Mack’s don’t have conventional injectors but it’s acting like an injector loading up fault codes are signal codes to the cylinders I’m guessing that’s poor signal to the injector can somebody plse tell me where to start I haven’t had truck long and depend on it to feed my family
