  1. Dew points and humidity are extremely common to us down here too, and man can it be brutal. A week or so ago, we had pretty high temps but with low humidity, and it was pretty livable just like the people from the western US say. But this week, this week has been awful.
  2. That will absolutely do better than that plastic Volvo. Be sure to let us know when they sell the Volvo while your Freightshaker keeps rolling lol.
  3. We've actually got a truck with an MP7 in the shop puking blowby. Long story short, it needs an engine due to crank scoring and no/low compression in two cylinders. Cranks in MP series engines are not meant to removed according to our service team. Short story long: In typical dealership fashion, we chased low oil pressure faults first for some reason and not the massive amount of blowby coming out the breather. The tech was angry when he found out they were wasting his time. Found the crank scored and bearings trashed, but the customer's tech came out and said to just roll new bearings in. Didn't magically stop the blowby though. To actually try to answer your question, it could be time for an in-frame, but I'd listen to Joey first and look into the CCV before you go ripping the engine apart. Other than that, we've seen a bad air compressor charge the crankcase to the point where it appeared as blowby. Long story short for that, we installed two different engines by the time the truck left our lot. Yes, it was an absolute mess.
  4. Best of luck with the new job. I'm sure you'll find the Volvo to be pretty comfortable, and ought to be very similar in power/pulling ability given there wasn't much different under the hood between the Mack and this Volvo. As for the previous company making poor decisions, it's a sad reality that is becoming so much more common. We see an abundance of deathtraps that don't belong on the roads, we quote the repairs, and they decline. I've thought about calling the local DOT guy and ratting them out, but I figured I would let due process take its course. Companies also really enjoy not taking care of their employees, then wonder why their new-hires won't show back up after a few days; "this pay ain't worth it."
  5. Mostly the same, and many parts cross over.
  6. Mack most certainly won't have any glass for your truck in stock unfortunately. I'd call some of the bigger fleet-style glass companies in your area. They might be able to come up with something. Or you could get up with Watts Truck Center, they've been a beast in helping me with old Mack questions.
  7. We like to use ATRO kits for Camelbacks, and I tend to use ATRO when possible because I know they make a good product. Plus having a kit with all the hardware inside one box makes it much easier for us.
  8. Me and Joey are experiencing nearly the same weather, and I can assure you it still sucks even if you're a youngin like me. I've done very little and am already sweating like a preacher in a strip club, and the air is as heavy as Portland's skinniest feminist. I need to ask my granddad what he and his family did before they had AC, I genuinely wonder how farmers and laboring people didn't fall out more often than they did.
  9. I remember looking this up for someone else on here and found the old E6 lifter superseded to the newer E7 one. I'll edit this once I find the part number and whether they're available through Mack right now. I think PAI had them when I searched last. EDIT: Found it: part number 72GC357 supersedes to 20705596, which is currently available through Mack. PAI does not have any of these anymore it seems. Also to note, we can only order them in batches of 12 because why would it make sense?
  10. Depends how close you are to Knoxville, TN. I've been told by friends in the area that City Diesel is exceptional at anything diesel, especially pump and injector rebuilds.
  11. Any dealer should be able to give you info as long as it has a 13 digit VIN. If it's old enough to have a 10 digit, it will depend on how knowledgeable they are. For instance, looking up parts for a 10-digit was near impossible for me because someone threw away all the old parts books, because "why would we keep these? They don't make us money any more."
  12. That or the Kenly 95. Sure it's huge and has some neat display trucks, but it's not worth stopping at unless you like spending a premium on whatever you get from the truck store.
  13. If anyone's in the Kenly, NC area heading up or down I95, I recommend Big Boy's. It's the only truck stop I've been to (I haven't been to many non-chain truck stops, lots of Pilots and Loves) in NC with a family-run food joint. And they kill it with good ole Southern class. If you're not in a truck, there's several nice restaurants in the Selma/Smithfield area; I personally recommend Zach's Char-Grill in Smithfield, family-run, cheap, fast, and great hamburgers, and the Chicken Barn for great chicken at a little bit of a premium.
  14. From what the owner told me, it was originally in use with a fuel company before it was likely wrecked in the early 80's. It was then bought privately, and as far as we know, never has seen revenue service since.
  15. The 690 model being discontinued is absolutely true, and you can thank Volvo for that. Jacobs told me outright it was Volvo that produced them, and now obsoleted them without a backup. This topic is exactly what brought me to this forum in the first place, we had a 2000 RD that had top end damage thanks to someone not torqueing the rocker shaft correctly, ruining the head and the jakes. The customer ended up buying a used one from somewhere and sending it in.
  16. You can actually order it from the Mack Shop, found them the other day after he showed his set to me.
  17. Frank's '79. Made a massive stir when everyone realized what was in the shop.
  18. We see a lot of diff lock switch failures in newer Macks, but I don't know if it being pneumatically disconnected will affect that as a problem or not. I haven't seen a truck with exactly what your issue is, so I wouldn't be able to say for sure.
  19. Which would be almost immediately. A new recall just dropped concerning the drag link possibly being defective, stating that the affected trucks need to be parked until repairs have been made... What repair you ask? Volvo doesn't even know! "Once we have an approved remedy (repair) another communication will be sent out."
  20. I'll repost it, here you go. I don't know enough about the technical side of the mDrive to give any further advice other than the ribbon harnesses go bad a lot. If you're looking for it in Impact, it's called the Passthrough Kit. Mdrive F GU series.pdf
  21. I have to say my day, and probably week, has been made. The entire company was buzzing around this truck at some point, and obviously for good reason. I talked with the owner of the truck for a long time, and learned the history on this beast. It was the last display truck at the Mack HQ before Volvo took over, it is the inspiration for the Collector's Pin Set, and apparently was the model used to create the Superliner for the Farming Simulator game. I'm genuinely excited to have been part of this unit's history, and all I had to do was match up Schrader valves. The owner gave me permission to post it here, and said it'll be going to the Macungie show Lord willing!
  22. We have our answer: NO. Our sales manager said they haven't been offered for quite a long time, probably when Volvo happened if I had a guess.
  23. Yeah no, I highly doubt it haha. I won't name any names to help protect my identity, because these guys definitely are the kind to make a mountain out of a molehill. I sent one of the salesman an email asking about the spokes, let's see what the reply is.
  24. A long shot is exactly what it would be haha. There's really only one salesman I like here, the rest are either crooks or absolute mo-rons. I'll make a point to ask though! Was busy and didn't have a chance to go that route yet.
  25. Those are some awesome pictures, it's hard for this American to realize other countries have Macks too!
