  1. Such a shame that something reliable is impossible to get parts for. Had no clue they were actually reliable.
  2. These trucks have parts are made of unobtanium. There is hardly ANY support for them, so it will be a nightmare repairing them. Rockauto has some parts available, but other than that, you'd be screwed. I've had several owners asking us for parts, and no matter how hard I try, it comes up dry. As a Mack parts guy, I can't recommend these trucks based entirely on that. I have no clue how they perform, whether or not they're reliable, etc., just on how hard it is to supply parts for them... I don't know, maybe eBay would be a good source, but it's up to you, the owner, whether or not you are ok with it being down while you search for parts...
  3. I think some of their first generation ones had CAT motors in them, maybe a C13 at the least. The majority of them ended up being Navistar junk.
  4. Also, I wasn't able to get anything out of the number you gave me, I would need either the VIN or the actual engine serial (something like 5G4629). The serial's on the intake side near a boss.
  5. It's their and Volvo's fault. Your typical OEM expansion tank costs a cash customer $488.30. For a hunk of plastic that falls apart within the next 6 months it seems. It's no PAI but an Automann cross that has been reliable costs $169.81, you do the math which one people want.
  6. The MX13 uses EUP's doesn't it? I haven't really looked at one close up, but I've been told by someone that worked at Peterbilt for all of two weeks though.
  7. Yeah, it'd be Monday. Their site's offline at the moment so I can't even log in at home.
  8. That's been 100% of the Maxitorque failures I've seen in our shop. I assume it's drivers trying to wiz along like an Eaton behind a Cat or Cummins.
  9. Atro makes great kits with all the hardware included. I'm pretty certain PAI offers them too, I know they have the trunnion bushings for sure, ordered some this week.
  10. We are selling PAI a lot now, they've been extremely helpful when Volvo falls behind on production, which is nearly every week. If Monday will be kind to me, I'll see if I can get a PAI number for you.
  11. Right on the money, post had to jog my memory. We've had several I had to order parts for, and I remember spending time researching TPI's to make sure I was ordering the right parts.
  12. No, they're not that expensive even with a massive dealership markup. It's been a minute since I looked one up, but I know for a fact that a newer gen Allison will cost more than a Mack trans will. I'm extremely skeptical his PTO will work on an Eaton, they can be extremely picky on what they work with, and at what speed the transmission is turning at. But hey, his mechanic is a PTO guy, so hopefully he knows better than me. Also, fun fact, I can't view this topic on my work PC because the firewall/security deems it, I kid you not, "Pornography." Bet it's the title.
  13. I know, I just get really irritated at seeing the "You youngins suck" comments lol. I love and respect my elders, but I don't get along with the cranky ones if you catch my drift. The bean counters are absolutely the worst, it's almost always an upper management issue that drives away good employees; as they say, crap rolls downhill.
  14. Allow me to throw my hat into the ring. I'm a Gen Z 26 year old that worked 3 years at a fleet shop and 3+ as a parts salesman at a Mack dealership. There were absolutely times were a jerry rigged repair worked perfectly, but there were many times were jerry rigging did nothing but waste time. Sure, lots of people my age are dumb as a rock and couldn't think outside the box to save their lives, but you also have to consider we might not have been raised to know how to do such things. I'm an example of that, my dad rest his soul was not a wrench turner in the slightest, so I didn't learn much through him. My grandad was probably the best welder/metalworker South Carolina has seen and was absolutely the kind of man that could make a mountain into a mole-hill with a little ingenuity. Me, I've had to learn as I go, either by people taking me under their wing or me just observing from a distance. Another reason we don't jerry rig often is company rules. Doing something like heating an excavator cylinder to bend it back on company time could very quickly earn you a one way trip to The Job Search™. But then when the bean counters notice equipment sitting idle waiting for parts, they pressure their underlings, who pressure the actual workers. Such is the way of modern corporate America. I'm just tired of hearing my generation dragged through the mud about not being as good as previous generations. Maybe if we had been RAISED BETTER, we could have stood a chance.
  15. To my knowledge, you should only need the gasket. It fails pretty often unfortunately, it's a crappy design.
  16. We've had several geartrain failures on MP engines the three years I've been here. I don't remember how many were MP7's or 8's, but I do know the air compressor gear was almost always involved. I despise the rear gear train design, it's a massive headache for the tech working on the crap.
  17. I wouldn't have known what the H model I saw at the recent truck show was if it wasn't for BMT. It's got a face only a mother could love, but it's an interesting glimpse into the past for sure.
  18. I just saw that, goes from 713° EGT to 260° at the DOC inlet, then up to 666° after DOC? Can't help but wonder if it's the temp sensor.
  19. No, you don't. They're basically just a steering wheel holder at best, and half can't even do that right.
  20. You're actually in my territory. If you need any parts ordered, let me know.
  21. They're available now, there's not a lot in the system, but they're available.
  22. Being born in the late 90's gives me a unique perspective on media of the time, especially considering we weren't exactly rich growing up. I had a lot of kids books similar to the modern example above, and I also had several like the older book up there. Being into big trucks and construction equipment growing up gave me plenty of opportunities to read books with very detailed info that went over my head, until it didn't lol. The huge difference in media between even my generation and the newest is the intent. 99% of modern child entertainment is created solely to grab and hold their attention to generate revenue, with most of the left-adjacent messages existing only because that brings even more revenue through kickbacks and such. The only good kids' show I know of is Bluey, but I only know what friends and family have told me about it, I don't have kids. As a kid, my shows were made to either teach lessons or skills like simple problem solving, or because the creators had a vision they wanted to share. Corporate greed has killed creativity, and in its stead we have the garbage that is the modern entertainment industry.
  23. PAI EKY-3179OEM, Mack OEM 20706394. The Mack might end up being cheaper depending on your dealer.
