  1. I do that for when oil coolers go bad, seems to work the best. I never tried cascade though. The liquid dish soap will also turn diesel or gasoline into a thick jell. Good for homemade napalm. I've seen it used for sabotaging the competition too
  2. That damn Ginger gave me bad thoughts as a 6 year old. I had no idea what it made me want to do, but I knew I wanted to do something. I didn't tell anyone for fear of getting put in the crazy house in a straight jacket or something. Little did I know the grown ups were thinking the same thing lmao
  3. It really doesn't look that bad. Personally for a work truck, I'd just straighten it out as best as you can and use bondo. Nobody will notice it. unless they take a magnet to it or something
  4. Never used a torque wrench on one in my life. Be sure to us properly fitting body-bond bolts. And if you do decide to use a torque wrench, it's only going to be accurate if the torque wrench is on the nut.
  5. I had that problem here in Pa in the 80's. I had a rail trailer from some far away state I think it might have been Arkansas and the registration document was kind of unusual looking but it had PERMANANT stamped on it in big letters. Actually it was the first time I had seen a permanent trailer tag so I examined the documentation really closely. And go figure I got pulled into a DOT check. And they were insisting it was all wrong. It was a damn railroad owned brand new dry van. It seemed like they were reading it wrong. They were going to cite me, but then an older officer came over and looked at it and decided it was OK. I don't understand why they just didn't run it
  6. I'm never a fan of putting faster ratios in. It never seems to save the amount of fuel everyone thinks it's going to. What do you use the truck for? What engine and transmission? Tire size?
  7. The slip rings are outboard of the bearing? Do the brushes go into the back?
  8. It looks like there is plenty of meat there if you have to bore it for a larger OD bearing. And if the bearing is smaller, sleaving it should be no problem at all
  9. The only thing I can find in NJ law prohibiting recaps is this. I think some cop did your friend wrong Section 13:20-50A.25 - Tires and rims (a) Tires and rims of proper size and tires with a load-rating commensurate with the chassis manufacturer's GVWR shall be provided. (b) Tubeless tires mounted on one-piece drop center rims may be used. (c) All tires shall be of the same size, type, construction, and load-rating. The load-rating shall meet or exceed the GVWR, as required by FMVSS No. 120 (49 CFR § 571.120), incorporated herein by reference, as amended and supplemented. Tires on Type B, C, and D school buses may be of more than one type of construction provided all tires on the same axle are the same type of construction. (d) A school bus may be equipped with a spare tire and rim assembly of the same size as those mounted on the school bus. A spare tire shall not be stored inside the passenger compartment of the school bus. (e) A school bus may be equipped with a spare tire carrier properly mounted under the floor in an area accessible to the driver. (i) Tire chains, snow tires, all-weather tires, or tires marked with "M & S" shall be used for the drive wheels to enhance the safe operation of the school bus during adverse weather conditions. The "M & S" marking is not necessary if a rear tire has a retread that is a snow/mud-type tread and meets the minimum tire tread depth standards of (f) above. (j) Spacers shall be as specified by the manufacturer and shall not be altered. N.J. Admin. Code § 13:20-50A.25 And here N.J. Admin. Code § 16:53-3.25 - Tires and wheels State Regulations Compare (a) An autobus shall be equipped with tires and wheels of sufficient size and construction, as recommended by the manufacturer to meet the GVWR of the autobus. (b) An autobus shall not be operated with regrooved, retread, or recapped tires on the front wheels. An autobus shall not be operated on any tire having exposed fabric on the tread or sidewall. (c) An autobus shall not be operated unless the front tires have a tread groove of at least 4/32 of an inch when measured in a major tread groove. (d) An autobus shall not be operated unless the rear tires have a tread groove of at least 2/32 of an inch when measured in a major tread groove. 10. Firestone RH5 "windowmaker" Similar wheel also produced by Kelsey Hayes, also dangerous
  11. Yeah you used a block of wood on the floor to offset the split
  12. I could declare my cat is a "certified welder" and it would be true
  13. Now I hear guys saying multi piece rims are illegal.
  14. Fine on anything but a bus. It's done all the time. Floats on the front of trash trucks are really common. And I don't know about now but UPS used to run them on steering axles all the time. People say "Illegal" all the time over truck driver's tall tales. They all used to say frame welding is Illegal. They say straightening or welding an axle housing is illegal. If you challenge them on it they claim the welds all have to be done by a "Certified Welder". If you ask them "Certified by WHO??" they can't tell you. That is because there is no certification required to weld truck frames. "CERTIFIED" is mostly a salesdouches buzz word. Like "Certified Pre Owned"
  15. § 393.75 Tires. (a) No motor vehicle shall be operated on any tire that— (1) Has body ply or belt material exposed through the tread or sidewall, (2) Has any tread or sidewall separation, (3) Is flat or has an audible leak, or (4) Has a cut to the extent that the ply or belt material is exposed. (b) Any tire on the front wheels of a bus, truck, or truck tractor shall have a tread groove pattern depth of at least 4⁄32 of an inch when measured at any point on a major tread groove. The measurements shall not be made where tie bars, humps, or fillets are located. (c) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, tires shall have a tread groove pattern depth of at least 2⁄32 of an inch when measured in a major tread groove. The measurement shall not be made where tie bars, humps or fillets are located. (d) No bus shall be operated with regrooved, recapped or retreaded tires on the front wheels. (e) A regrooved tire with a load-carrying capacity equal to or greater than 2,232 kg (4,920 pounds) shall not be used on the front wheels of any truck or truck tractor. (f) No motor vehicle may be operated with speed-restricted tires labeled with a maximum speed of 55 mph or less in accordance with S6.5(e) of FMVSS No. 119 at speeds that exceed the rated limit of the tire.
  16. Yeah it's pretty good. I read it 30 some years ago, I should probably read it again “They're trying to kill me," Yossarian told him calmly. No one's trying to kill you," Clevinger cried. Then why are they shooting at me?" Yossarian asked. They're shooting at everyone," Clevinger answered. "They're trying to kill everyone." And what difference does that make?”
  17. Yeah I just wonder how much money Bill Gates and the Chinamen are getting for not growing alfalfa
  18. “Major Major's father was a sober God-fearing man whose idea of a good joke was to lie about his age. He was a long-limbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn't earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major's father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbors sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counseled one and all, and everyone said, “Amen.” ― Joseph Heller, Catch-22 I disapprove of those kind of loose women too
  19. Tires getting crazy expensive. We're going to have to go back to using these. Although I never liked the pistol grip style. The old cross handle type was much better to use. But apparently they no longer make them. Seems funny because all the old time tire guys that regrooved a lot only used the cross bar handle type
  20. I think here in Pa they are over 100, I think all the cigarettes are over 10 dollars a pack
  21. I thought this idiot had his 16 minutes of fame. They made him vice-chair of the DNC? Really? Is there anyone that can see this little twit and not want to punch him square in the face?
