  1. I say put a camelback or an RS series Hendrickson under it
  2. Communist activist Frank Marshall Davis, who owned the “subversive” magazines the photos were for.
  3. I think this is the real reason they are letting the fires burn. LA is loaded with Raciest Trees https://www.pbs.org/video/trailer-racist-trees-cga1ky/
  4. No No No, the experts have spoken https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/los-angeles-wildfire-using-sea-water-fighting-fires
  5. Longer version. They built all their own equipment on the fly. Boots & Coots still exists as part of Haliburton
  6. What would Red Adair do??????
  7. Yeah if I set myself on fire welding, I'd really be pizzed if someone filled a bucket with seawater, ran roughly over some endangered worms, and dumped it on me
  8. Yeah I was thinking trailer mounted pumps on a raft and lots of soft line. But there are stories in the media of how salt is bad for the environment, and it will destroy the pumps in fire apparatus. and salt water is not as good at absorbing heat (something like 4% less by mass, or 2% by volume), so it's totally unsuitable for fire fighting
  9. Wonder what It'll bring
  10. I don't think we have to mess with the Constitution. There are NGOs helping the illegals in. We just need to form NGOs to help persuade the illegals go back where they belong. Think of it being a National Christian Organization, or something like NSF thing. If we keep the government out of it, it can be extremely effective.
  11. The left turn in your 4 wire should also be a stop light. Someone has it hooked to the wrong terminal up on the firewall, or maybe the switch is bad. It sounds like it's hooked to the same terminal as the left turn on the hood.
  12. Maxidynes were hardly new in 1981, and what they were replacing was a mismatched bunch of everything. It was George Harms Construction and they went from pretty much nothing. to a whole yard full of brand new equipment when they Got the contract for the Black Bridge, and a big contract to replace power structures along the railroad. He seriously went from a guy in a pickup and a flannel shirt, to a guy with a private helicopter in the space of a couple years
  13. How much price difference could there be between a ENDT673C and a quad box compared to a Maxidyne and a 6 speed? The engine is more or less the same except for fuel settings and turbo
  14. I always found it kind of odd that there were people still buying stuff like ENDT673C and the 300 + long after the Maxidyne went into production. I remember one contractor buying brand new DM600 ten wheelers in the 80's with ENDT673C engines. I forget how many, but it was more than 10 trucks. Beautiful trucks 55 rears Bristol Donald dump bodies, air con,
  15. Is anybody still making R Model cab panels? If someone wanted to rebuild a cab, how much is available?
  16. 40 some years ago I was at the parts counter at Trenton Mack and talking to the parts guys about BCR kits. I'd never actually seen one at that time and wanted to know where I might find one to look at. One older parts guy told me they sold one to somebody (I can't remember the guy's name) and the guy never put it on a truck. It was supposed to be up in a loft above the guy's garage in the crate or on the pallet just the way it was delivered to him. I never hooked up with the guy to see it. (I was probably too busy chasing some blonde bimbo). But anyway it was somewhere in the Trenton NJ area. Probably would be worth a fortune if somebody had it just like that now. Later on I saw one that was a tandem tractor in Philly, and then a single axle dump but I just saw them in traffic. Later on I was hauling crane parts to a contractor we worked with sometimes. He was dredging the Duck Pond at the Haas Family estate (Rohm & Haas was a big international chemical company) and he had a green 10 wheel dump there and something looked odd about it. He pulled up where we were staging, and sure enough it was a nice clean working BCR with an ENDT673C and a quad box with old style 44,000 rears. I said, no shit a BCR kit and he looked at me with a big smile. Seemed to be happy somebody knew what he had. That guy was from West Chester, but damn I forget his name now. Well it's been over 30 years ago, so I guess being a little senile is ok
  17. I had one company that was always having wheel seal leaks. Turns out they were filling the bottom first and working up. Easy enough mistake to make if you are not familiar with them
  18. Always make sure to clean your vents also. If they get plugged up with dirt you'll have seals leaking like crazy
  19. I can remember back around 1990 a brand new R model cab fully dressed was about 7,000 bucks. During the 80's Acme Markets used to buy a lot of them and the Pedigree engines that were about 6,500. I'd love to have a few of them now. There were a couple of BCR kits running around Philly area too. I was always curious what a BCR kit cost back in the day
  20. Oh yeah it was horrible. Danny's Mother and Father were in Florida visiting friends along with Danny's daughter who was like 8. His mom called me and was trying to get them all on a flight back to philly and said to me "Talk to him". All he could do was freak out and scream. They were all great people and good friends. I took Danny for his driver's test when he was 16. Bobby Forepaugh was my Neighbor and he was a great guy. Lend me any of his equipment whenever I needed it, cranes, backhoes, roll off truck. I rolled a dump trailer and an R Model on a job one time and he sent his son with a 950 Cat loader to set it back on it's wheels. Never charged me a dime for anything. He was a big player in the Demolition Business in Philadelphia. Did lots of work for The Budd Company, even took down Midvale Steel's mill. He was a descendant of Adam Forepaugh Sorry I've taken this way off topic
  21. Scranton is about 40 miles north of me up RT81. About a 45 minute drive
  22. I'm assuming they used them in the Rocky Mountains. I wonder if they chained up all four
