  2. Iv seen a fishing trawler with 2 8V71s one of which was set to run "backwards".It was direct drive(no gearbox) to the propellers so the reason the engines were set up this way was for counter rotation of the propellers. It was an interesting set up to say the least... Paul
  3. The secret lives of batterys...who knew when I posted the question of what batterys our Cruiseliner came with it would lead to such an interesting debate.Very interesting indeed. Thanks guys... Paul
  4. Our Cruiseliner is 12V Neg ground.Nathans truck is from the same batch and is also 12V..Maybe you guys would know but Iv been told when new they were supplied with 4 6V batterys.would that be right? Over this side of the world the last vehicle I can think of that had a 6V battery was a VW Beatle and some motorbikes... Paul

  12. I did a fair bit of work on Bedford 220 330 and 500 diesels.Great engines. Many years ago I restored a 1936 Bedford WHG 3 ton truck it really was a chevy which came in kits from the US.It had a 3.5 litre 6 cyl petrol. Paul

  15. Never knew that!!! ...You'd never know what you'd learn on BMT..From Fullers to Maxitoqures to the Irish Potato Famine...Fantastic and no my folks never took the soup. The saying "are you going for soup?" has been around as long as I can remember but it was slang for "are you going for drink".What you have said does fit in with what I remember when I was in my teens. At that time religious instruction was very strong and I can remember priests calling Alcohol "Protestant Soup"to try to keep young people away from it...They failed in my case!!!! Paul
