I drove on weekends and holidays for Alman Construction back in the early eighties. They were hauling rock and dirt where Jones Brothers was doing the road bed for I-440 in Nashville. Alman had Mack’s with the Maxidine in them. They only had 5 gears and part of our route was on I-40. Fortunately the entry ramp was downhill and that helped to get up to merging speed. I don’t know much about trucks any more except how to drive them. The talk on here about the Mack’s is very interesting.
