It's important to note that the 600hp number assumes a TIT of 1735F with uncooled blades and an ambient temperature of 100F. Increase the TIT or reduce ambient temperature and you get more power. Additionally, you there were plans to add up to two zero stages. Combine higher TIT and zero stages, and you get a power of up to 1185 hp (@100F ambient).
