  1. I always loved those 10 commandments. My grandfather had them pinned on the wall at work. I told him he should have put them in the appication at the company.
  2. I think the last year u could get an E9 in a truck was 97 or maybe 98. They still build them i hear cause of high demand in other countrys.
  3. I love the R models! My grandfather bout an 89 with 350 and 9spd to haul rock every day. He sold out his buisness in 05 that truck had almost 2million miles on it with the original crank and bearings. How many trucks do know do that , start and stop all day long expierencing rough terrain and last that long. The joke with that truck was if we had 20 of those trucks in the fleet we'd be millionaires and thats the truth all we ever did was maintanense. My opinion i loved them easy to work on ( no computers). ~Joe
  4. I think we've got 12 inches hear in central iIllinois.
  5. If its evrer for sale please let me know weve been lookin for something like this for a long time. ~Joe
  6. I found this literature in my dad's collection that he acquired at MACK's school back in the '80's. I wish this was an E9 version in the MACK trucks. See next entry for more pics --
  7. I could send u a video in hopes to get it back. But keep in mind there were lots of changes since then also. Send me your address and ill send it to ya.Ill try to get more pics of the motor but its not really that pretty its just a dirty work horse.
  8. I had some vids of that ITPA class but i got ruined before i could make copys . I do have other videos of us and some friends at the local brush pulls. We were told its making about 850 hp.
  9. I finally got some pics posted. (See my Album in Members Gallery for more pics.) This is our 1970 R Model that was the ITPA Semi Truck 2nd place in points in 2001. It was green back then but has since been repainted CAT yellow you see in the pics and is now in retirement. It has a 300 675 cu in. with a modified fuel pump, injectors and turbo. It has a MACK 5 speed with overdrive and backed by 417 rears. Hope you enjoy the pics and will have more in the future. ~Joe
  10. Ya but a mck can take that abuse all day lone!!
  11. sometimes unhooking the anaroid valve gives you more low Rpm power cause most people dont shim them correctly. If u want to turn up the fuel first u need to find out if someone has already. on top the gov. there are six bolts one has a lead plug that needs to be removed then u need a special socket i believe its a 32 point socket. if u get the cover off u should be looking at the "rack" consisting of one nut with a carrot looking piece and another nut to jam them all together on a piece of all thread. a good rule of thumb i use is count the flats of the nuts in other words to get more fuel turn the back nut 5 flats to start (loosening it) then back the front nut to jam them together. take a center punch and make five dots on the gov. cover so u know how much fuel was turned up. Use caution doing this stuff.
  12. all u need is a military spec. E9 they made 3 models for the gov. to put in tanks. They all have 4 turbos the first one is 750hp the 2nd one is 900hp and the 3rd one is 1000hp. all the did to get more power was add more fuel and more rpms thats it . I have this brocure my dad got from mack school years ago it shows every thing torque curves and all its cooll.
  13. I know i was told never to lug the motor down when i drove. My old man said macks have weak lower ends which are suseptible to spinning a bearing or throwing a rod. he always told me he'd rather see me run the shit out of it than lug it.
  14. Best of all he gotta picture with the Mack god.
  15. Why dont u just buy one bigger turbo instead of running 2 that would be easier and cheaper in the long run. If u run 2 and the front turbo blows it would take out the 2nd and cost that much more. Im not tellin u how to play your cards or nothin like that its just something to think about. If u want one that moves big air try one off a ginset engine. 50+ psi guarenteed . nothin else try turbo calculator.com you'll learn lots of info there.
  16. There may be a chance there is a colapsed fuel line. Ive had this happen to me years ago it kind of did the same thing. Try taking them off at both ends one at a time not to mix them up up and blow air through them (air comp.) put your had over them to check flow. I used to keep a little propane torch with me in the winter to heat up the 90 degree fittings when i would gell up wich may also be the case too. Thats one thing to remember try to use less 90's when plumbing fuel it can cause problems in the cold.
