Yes it was I failed to get any photos of that one. There was also a cool Studebaker diesel with a camper setup, similar to that B - model.- 16 replies

That was a nicely done L series, didn't catch the specs on it but it sure was sharp looking. Here's two more pics I have of it. Lots of chrome and aluminum, that Texas style bumper sure did set it apart from the crowd!

Was that a rope tieing off the steering wheel? I've been told that's how the pioneers "towed" them on the back of a wrecker once upon a time. . . . .Looks like it might have been given it's last ride to this resting place.

That was one of my favorites too, esp the grill guard captioned "Screaming Me Me" I didn't climb up on the trailer but I wondered if it had a Detroit when I saw that on the grill guard.- 16 replies

That's interesting, when I first saw one years ago I was told they were filled with a "salt brine" solution, then again back then it probably wasn't readily available so alum oxide makes a little more sense.

Didn't look too closely inside that one, I was checking out the trailer which had a few sofas and coffee table set up for a sitting area, not to mention a pretty funny sign in the back door.

Pics from ATHS - Barrington NH 2012 (non-Mack)
burnstransport replied to burnstransport's topic in Other Truck Makes
Yeah it was a great show, great turnout and plenty of close by free parking! The organizers did a good job of grouping the trucks so that there was some organization, i.e. all the Studebakers were together, the RD800s were together, pickups together, etc. and etc. The pics don't do it justice!- 16 replies

Absence of models such as her in the trucking magazines these days is just one of the million reasons our country is starting to go straight to he** in a hand basket!!! Political correctness has made it a crime to be a grown man it seems!! [stepping down off my soap box now that I have that off my chest - or her chest, take your un - politically correct pick lol]

I've made a post for all the "off-brand" trucks from the ATHS Barrington NH 2012 show. Weather was great and the trucks were beautiful! All in all a great day, glad I finally got there! This truck's bug shield read "Two Stroke Joke" - Must not have been a Detroit fan!!! Note the Mack Bulldog on the hood of the F250

Our DM has the flapper pointed toward the back, I always wondered if the wind would affect it. I actually took a 24" extension with curved end off another truck to add on to ours so I guess it won't matter once it is installed. Ours never made that clanging sound, I kinda like that sound. One of the guys mentioned that when he got his license years ago the boss told him "if you can't hear the flapper banging, the exhaust is leaking". Seems to be the opposite on this truck, then again he was learning on an old IH w/ 6-71 Detroit so their probably just a little different. When I was a kid my father and I restored lots of 2-cyl John Deeres, with straight stacks. Always had an old coffee can on them, even had a collection of them painted flat black to match the stack. You wanna have some real fun start up one of them "popping johnny's" while the can is still on the stack, we used to have contests at the tractor shows to see who can blow it highest in the air - sometimes them things were about 100' into the stratosphere!!! Then make sure you got somebody on "punt receiver" detail to catch it on the way down (and hope that it doesn't land on your freshly painted hood, they WILL leave a mark!) Long story short, flappers are less work and coffee cans more fun!!

I've only seen a couple of those sanders, this was the first one that I saw somebody actually restore on an old truck rather than throwing it away while refurbing the rest of the truck! Had to get a pic of it! And yes, that scroll work has always caught my eyes since I was a boy! The turned gold leaf lettering was big when I was a kid, didn't get to see any examples of that today though.

Here are a few extra Mack pics. I took plenty more "non-Mack" photos I'll post them in the "other trucks" forum sometime soon! Great collection of steel nosed RD800s all working for a NH gravel pit

Well the 2012 Barrington, NH ATHS show was greeted with great weather, a terrific crowd and a terrific representation of MACK trucks! I think there were as many Macks as everything else put together (not a scientific calculation, just my general observation for what it's worth.) So here are some of the unique displays to be seen there today. Nice looking B61 with insulated trailer DM800 with a gin-pole wrecker and HUGE drag winch This beautiful SuperLiner is set up with an E9, Allison Auto for drag racing 1/4 miles. Also has a pretty trick flame throwing setup controlled by a remote key fob! This DM800 was one of my favorites, the pinstriping and scroll work were absolutely beautiful! Here you go Vinny, you can put this graphic on the door of your U-boat!! A "Softer, gentler" bulldog Terrific show, glad I was able to finally get there (been hearing about it after the fact every year since I was 12 years old, better late than never I suppose lol )

aran trading . . .
burnstransport replied to stev's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
He's been working on moving all the containers into the old MobileMini property on US-1 in Newbury, about 5 miles south. He's been cleaning out that property for about 8 months I think and the containers will end up down there, so now he has some space to lease out on Main St. The word on the street is that he's just trying to slim down the collection of old trucks cause they haven't been selling, but as was mentioned before I really don't think he ever wanted to sell any of them in the first place -
OK I cheated and put it into a Microsoft spreadsheet, the round figure is 10.74 million Even better when you consider it's technically your second to last DAY's pay (assuming a 30 day month) Pretty sweet I gotta say My first response was "no, I'm not that short sighted to quit my steady job for 30 days of work" but now I'm thinking it'll be worth it
