  1. Merry Christmas BMT!
  2. I put the like but I don't mean i like the way Brazillians do. As for here if you really want no trouble to buy used Mercedes S-class or G with factory bulletproof protection. New car is sure avalible too but damn expensive. A used one could be bought reasonable. But no real need in such car here.
  3. The roads I saw in that movie look close to what you find going deeper in Russia. Sure during warm time. But here you never see truck drivers who does such stupid jokes in the street. That would end up very bad for a driver even if he is an owner-operator. So looks like Brasil is one uncommon place in the world. I heard from a friend of mine a story of his friiend who made a business trip to Brasil. It was told about a really high level of crime in the streets so too many peple have to make their vehicles bulletproof to just drive in a city. Don't know how it really close to the thruth though.
  4. Just apleasure to read. Unfortunately nowadays we used to SURPRIZE when someone just does his work a proper way with no stupid faults and fooling up a customer.
  5. Paul, as others said. It's pleasure to see your country And from the cab of your Mack too.
  6. Upps, a trouble with a boss lady at the moment. Will have to do it myself. Anyway many txs for the efforts!
  7. Yes, the sensor is the same one supplying the speedo gauge. So if you see the speed is shown with no odometer turning it means your gauge is bad. Sorry, no experience fixing them or taking apart. The tacho is a different sensor and the gauge to operate with.
  8. Those German guys with Boeings sure looked nice but were no doubt a cartoon movie. As for Brasilian jokings now I'm ready to state anywhere that Russian roads are one of the safeties in the world!
  9. Cool thing to have. Not for free though but might worth it being in the described condition.
  10. And thank you for sharing experience.
  11. I think that thing worth 1.5K anyway. Sorry to hear the issues you got transporting it. A couple of years back a friend of mine bought a truck and drove it home for nearly 2000km. Had the same issue with the hub bearings. Both sides on the front axle. Strange fact the first hub started getting stuck and braking the truck after 1000km of run. He was lucky just swapping the bearings which were foound there locally. The 2nd hub revision showed out no grease in it. And the same case with the seller. A honest person who owned the truck for 20 years. But never drove it further than 50 km off home.
  12. Could the verb "to park" be used for making a park too?
  13. What a cocktail !
  14. Do you mean the export things of a kind like that red R (or DM) from Venesuella? On my mind such trucks could be characterized more like custom stuff. You can never systemaize any possible difference ever put into a truck when someone just wanted to specify it the way he only liked. But the adventure itself is interesting
  15. That's interesting technology indeed. Actually you can do it yourself if want to tinker with big tank and soda solution. The effect is provided by electrolizing the water and building up bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen from it. When such bubble appears it starts off the metal surface of the part you clean. Getting larger in size it blows off a piece of any coverage on the parts surface including old paint, dirt and rust. Here are portable sets avalible for local repair consisting of a small stick with piece of foam on the end and a can with liquid. The stick has piece of metal inside the foam pad. You attach positive pole of a 12V battery to the stick and negative to the part you clean (or maybe vice versa) Than penetrate the foam with the fluid (electrolite) and put it to the area you clean. Some boiling appears on the surface below the foam and the part gets steel-clean. My practice showed out though you can't remove deep rust from cavits in steel. Sandblast gives much better results as i could observe.
  16. I also always count 3+ cab had that side line and the short ones didn't BTW were the roofs different too?
  17. Thank you. I don't have too sharp eye on RL/RS trucks no matter I like them really much. The later ones are more to my taste. They're just further from Eastern R's about the look. Having two similar (Eastern) R's I keep in mind an idea to build a Western R some day using the rest of the parts and the 2nd lot of paperwork. But currently i doubt such plans are close to reality. And any serious thinking might be statred no sooner that the 1st R is ready.
  18. Looks like you got lucky purchasing the 2nd truck from the estate. A cool truck to be finished once. Have you contacted Mike 9Superdog) on this forum? He had LJ chassis with relatively solid sleeper cab at his yard. Also i remember he once posted (a long ago though) a brand new L-model door for sale. Don't remember it was for R or L side. Also I'd advice you to check out the gearboxes on both the trucks for rust inside (turn off the bolts and remove the top covers. The one I have in my NR model about a similar model tranny) got the most of the gears deeply rotted due to the water came through the shift lever cap. My truck had soft top (gone) and was kept outside for 30+ years in France. So you may be having the same surprizes with the yellow truck. Good luck on the progress.
  19. Upps, have never seen these two last pics. Mate, what do you need to put me into the pre-order list?
  20. So does that thing have early RL/RS hood on it? Not sure though there were ones with later hood (narrower fenders) and a steel dash cab at the same time.
  21. I checked the part # you gave me more widely. Found out those pistons are offered as OEM Renault part too. Looked like a two-part piston from what I could see on the pics. The listing offered such pistons for 15 days long order from France and with a cost of $666 apiece if converted from Roubles. Actually I'm not 100% sure they will bring exactly what was shown and for the cost. Need to call, ask questions etc. But at least the things look like those pistons are still avalible and they're Renault (too probably a Mack part inside the box), not PAI.
  22. Already gone. It was attractive listing though. Once I saw such one on e-bay for nearly that but it was auction. I tried to bid and found out someone increased bids in a real time. I passed after one hundred being not in a real need of. I sure needed one but not SS since it's painted khaky on my truck. Finally checked out what I had and resolved I could live with it. If anybody need one they were avalible here: http://www.kingofsalvage.com/
  23. Jim, thank you for pointing that out. For me it's an interesting page of history. And not American-related only.
  24. Wow Swish! NR's are always appreciated
  25. What was the reason? Fuel savings? Was it for commercial vehicles or for everybody? Just have never heard about it.
