  1. I made them bag blasts using 5 meter wires. Placed on the ground. Had the bag jumping 1 meter off the ground and lotta smoke and noise. Don't touch the carcass with your fingers right after the event. Used to be toooo hot.
  2. Who-hoo, one funny thing to see! If the badge on the hood side is from the factory it means the truck is from the late series NR-16 - NR-20 which were actually supplied to West Europe after the end of the war. Those trucks had the badge attached in the middle of the side panel, not further to the front as this truck has though. The chassis # might tell more on that. Thanks for sharing, seeing a NR is not an everyday event for me. Oh, excepting the days I have an ocassion of coming in to my big shed )
  3. Sean, from what I see on the pic shortening/swapping the tank is the only way. For that reason I kept one of my R's tanks stock length while adding a quoter meter to the other when did re-skin. Will put the spare on the right rail in my case. Les safe taking it off being on a shoulder. For the spare wheel arrangement the most trailer in the streets here are European made, rode on 6 385/65 supersingles as US folks call them. So people have a tractor spare on the tractor chassis and one or two trailer spares under the trailer's floor.
  4. A gentleman in a black suitcase BTW I can't find a "like" button. Is something changed on here again?
  5. Guy, Mack END510 and END672 were also Lanova's. They had Lanova pre-chamber design. Just different engines than ED installed in NR models. A kind of next generation. Cool pics of those L's. Thanks for posting.
  6. Jim, any pics of how that Mack NR looked ?
  7. Best B-day wishes!
  8. The snorkel looks very good For the spare tyre bracket I just can't spot the area quite enough to put a wheel at the right of the chassis. From my screen it looks a tyre can't get in between the right tank and the FR wheels. For the bracket itself which I also have in plans I got an idea. Should note I looked over 5-6 variants of them off European trucks at a junk yard (DAF, Scania, Volvo, MAN, MB) and found out all they have wheel mounting bolts arranged for European pattern. So American wheel required modification to be attached (what I saw on some Macks at shows in The Netherlands. The other day I bought a battery box bracked off late 90's Mack DM. It was attached at the right just below the cab. Consists of two steel plates of a shape of triangle with flanges bent at the bottom. Like many other chassis-mounted brackets. Seeing that part I realized I can use those two side plates. Just welding a pair of steel strips to them at the bottom, drilling 4 holes of the size American wheel has for and a spare wheel bracket is done. The last point would be a small winch to lift a wheel in place.
  9. I like this way of chassis restoration. Have you got the crossmembers riveted or bolted up?
  10. The engine is Renault. I suppose nothing similar of its components to anything made in North America. I know some Renault engines were named MIDR. Haven't dig deep into that matter. Seems like you're in this ball park. Try just googling Renault Midliner and you will probably learn the most about your baby. I suppose it's pretty easy for me being on my side of the globe locating parts for your rig. But for you it might be found out as a headach. Vlad
  11. Don't you still have the pair of MH front springs? Or are they already gone?
  12. Wow! Great 666!!! Seems like Canadian RW which many of us remember is doing fine.
  13. Paul mate, all those picts seem like a deep hole to get out from a lot of work. I suppose you are skilled enough for all that to go through but being you I'd think on ability widening the time frame. Since it might appear to be needed. Good luck on the project and too wish you a smooth track along that life turn.
  14. Double-framed B42? Neat-looking beast at all.
  15. Happy B-lated B-day!
  16. In relation to nearly 10K it was advertised previousely 6500 seems like a warming up tendency.
  17. I doubt on the ability of installing a MR axle onto RW. There could be difference in the location of the U-bolt holes. MR has a chassis similar to a R-model with 3.5 wide springs. RW has 4 inch springs and they put closer to each other along the axle beam than on R-model due to the different frame rail spread at front. RW front axle is similar to a one used on MH cabovers and probably CL. Vlad
  18. Mack differentials sure have 2 gears, not 3. Or 4 gears of 2 gear sets if you count gears as toothed wheels. Ring gear of the first stage (an upper gear set) is unified with a small gear (a kind of pinion) of the lower set (which is used to be called a bull gear)
  19. Hmm... Pretty easy. To get a final ratio you should multiply a ratio of one stage to a ratio of the other one. Or having teeth counts you just divide the larger number of teeth by the smaller number of one set of gears, than divide the larger number by the smaller of the other set, than multiply the results. Vlad
  20. Best B-day wishes Mike!
  21. Ok, now it seems allright. I mean the pics. Barbequeing really makes mouth water. Love the red Ford firetrucks. Actually - Budd cabs, similar to a N-model. Nice dogs, onions, and the tool boxes. And the kids growing up day by day
  22. There were some military E-models used during WW2. Painted Olive drab.
  23. Best wishes!
