  1. That's a hell dance indeed. We have all in order overhere. +5 +10C November and December with snow appeared exactly 2 days before the New Year. Than about -20C during all January. That it became nearly 0C in a couple of days and stayed that way all February keeping the snow on the ground with storms from time to time. Nice winter!
  2. -18 Celsius isn't terrible. -25F in Pennsylvania makes impression though. Hard to beleve and wish you to get warmer. The math isn't an easy one. You have both to offset and proportion. I've just figured out that 80F is about 20C so far, good comfortable weather.
  3. Sounds cold to me. Don't know how much 0F is in Celsias and currently don't want to. Have 0C outside right now. Tim, hope you have a set of warm clothes in your vehicle for some reason. And stock of food, matches and firewood
  4. Paul, thank you for sharing, that's pretty interesting. From the pictures I can see the conversion was deeper as only re-cabbing. All NR's originally rode on the spoke hubs and those two have Budds. Neither of the original fuel tanks there as well. From the pictures I wouldn't determine those trucks as NR's at all but I don't doubt your info sources. Didn't know your neighbours used to grow up iron woods Have never seen it myself, anything you can cut here floats.
  5. Wonder what that bridge was made of? Difficult to trust but it doesn't look as solid concrete.
  6. Thank you for the answer. It's just a usual thing when you used to think you knew everything on a subject and at some point something almost new shows up.
  7. Ha-ha! I would think the owner made no more than a test drive miles on it. Used to ride in Mercedes so far. Or a heli. I don't know and about nobody either. That's the after production one. The most of them were built in 80's and 90's. As for the cost I think if you split it 4 times it would probably work. If 10 times I suppose the chances would be good either.
  8. What is a flat back cab? All of what I've seen had two horizontal "dents" from left to right.
  9. Maybe some extinguishers in the load?
  10. I like the way it looks as a dump.
  11. I would at least cover them with primer. Glad to hear you've got a progress
  12. I wish the work will keep you warm! Some amount of warm up additive might be put inside but I would do it AFTER the job is done
  13. Great pics! Sorry to hear the trucks were gone.
  14. Seems like a normal front end heigth to me. The green truck probably rides on 12.00R 24.5's wich are tall. Both my R's have blocks of about 3 or 4" between the beam and the springs and I'd bet that's from the factory. The pics show the front axle off R688 of late 80's wich was parted out. You can see them blocks. Note the paint is always the same.
  15. I see no trouble if you need some shimming, no grinding
  16. Cool! Looks like they built custom front fenders. Or customized original LT ones.
  17. It looks about a brick color on my screen. Funny thing is Germans, at least Mercedes call that paint Englischgruen. But if you check out for example Jaguar pattern Englishgreen would look as almost another story. Thank you for sharing the pics.
  18. Saw it. Wonder how easy it was for the "car" driver to follow his "trailer" on speed sitting backwards and turning by mirrors.
  19. Still try to figure out was that a good or a bad thing but I already stood up and started checking out the dogs on the shelf. Pleased generally. The original one off the 1988 R-model is asymmetrical and with PAT#. But with short ears wich was expected. The one I bought from ebay some while back is a decent shape long eared dog with a sharp tail. And the almost new one I purchased from Barry has the late script and absolutely symmetric indeed. Ordering it I wasn't learned about those newer improvements. Otherwise I wouldn't. Keith, thank you for posting that and pulling out the original Ron's post. I haven't read it before.
  20. That Hayward F-model tanker is an impressive thing. What is/was it used for?
  21. I would put a pair of seats or a long bunk in the front section of the box to register the truck and keep the gen on its place. Sure if I would like to keep the truck close to original. Global rebuild to get a whole box living area is another story. It would be nice to see some pics of your truck. Don't remember seeing many R688 fire engines. Vlad
  22. Keep them coming! They're all nice but some of them are real pretty. Vlad
  23. Hmm... France.. The lend of romance... I would say it's not an easy way to find stuff out in France. Those people keep lots of treasures in their barns but don't use to show it out for sale on the net and so on. As my Dutch friend said you should go there, talk, eat and drink wine and then you maybe will get some nice things. He's a big specialist about that. But he speaks French either. I heven't ever heard about B87SX for sale there but I've got to know about the nice unrestored AC Bulldog wich some old man keeps in the shed and has no intend to part with. That's an original WW1 truck.
  24. I've got some experience with different films. Some of them went off clean resting about no glue on the window. Some kept traces wich I had luck removing with paint thinner and just a cloth. But once I got to ride off the tint film on my own vehicle and had almost the whole layer of glue on it. I tried to rub it off using everything starting from gasoline and after an hour of work removed the glass, put a cloth on its full surface, penetrated well with thinner and put into the plastic bag for overnight. Next day the glue became much softer and I fought it over with good amount of thinner and clothes. I took something like 40 minutes though and the other side window was just swapped with the already clean one. So much depends of a kind of film applied and you never know how it would go until start.
