I see no trouble getting tube type radials keeping the wheels. And I don't think 354cu. in. gasser is not powerful enough. As about high road speed you may play with rear axle ratio. I'm shure you can find some one of a faster kind but of the same body.

It depends on what miles you plan to do. Because you'll need to spend some bunch of $$ for any conversion. Jusy count miles with extra gas cost you need if you keep it stock. As about me I have an interest to stock or 98% stock trucks only. Because they have real historical value. I don't mean relation of a value to a price. There are not so many original vehicles in existance and i feel much sorry when anybody starts to convert stock unit into a custom creature. By the word in Germany you may register as a classic an only vehicle wich has most components (engine, body parts, suspension) as out of a factory. Of course to each their own and anybody may do about his stuff anything he want to. Just my pair of cents.

The blue RW you posted in the other thread - where in Australia/New Zealand you can get those ribbed rear fenders? Are they of stainless steel? Any link to the supplier or seller?

I also think it's not a great trouble to get original EH rear axle with hubs and wheels and front bumper. There are many firetrucks wich have the same parts when they're parted out. So here's more a sheet metal work. There's a lot of but it's common and usual. Although personally to me too important point is original chassis number. It makes histirical basis to the subject. Having it not means you work on just an old piece of unidentified metal. Just my point of view for shure

Living in my beautiful country I'm able to get and do most useful things wich man in civilized world used to. Although I always need to "sleep with one eye open" because there are many chances to get into a cavit on a flat surface. Here I go... Some time ago I contacted Mack Trucks Historical Museum with a reason for a info on my resto project. Don Schumacher answered me and after some time another guy informed me he sent a package to the adress I gave. By the word it was my friend's adress in Germany because I'm shure a post will find this point, not as in Russia. I picked up the pack and found what I was asked for. And all was nice so far. I contacted the museum again and asked of could I make donation using a credit card or PayPal. They answered "not, but we can recieve "Western Union". I felt no worries to that point because W.U. is commonly used here. Being in the nearest office I said of what I want but got an answer "Money transfers to physical persons only", not to organizations/companies. The central office doubled that fact. I was going to email the museum again but came into solution it's not nice to disturb good guys so much with a stupid reason. They would be glad to get a bit of extra $$ I hope but they better spend their time they have not enough to support another people who really need their help. The matter of question: I'm shure there is a lot of people on here who use PayPal. It would be nice if someone would get my poor $50 onto his PayPal account and resend it via Western Union or any other acceptable way to the museum. If any comission is required I will cover it for shure. Vlad.

Thanks alot. My truck has the shocks as KamAZ front shocks all around. By the word, now I know they're Mack related, isn't it? I think I better should put them originals in, maybe it will run smoother on road cracks.

And there are the 8 holes on the each rail (4 up and 4 down) wich were used to fix typical tandem frame crossmember. About the chassis number - did any SW's also have a rear location, and if yes - what a point of?

Strange way to make up a Mack truck on my mind. Would be interesting to see of what this vehicle will look like one day.

Let me toss a question in the ring. I have my R688ST with 3 leaves front springs and Neway airride. What shock absorber part number I should keep with? To my big sorry Mack museum hasn't recognized my truck so I probaly have no chances about production record. Or is it more question to Barry?

I also was surprized seeing nice looking girl flagged. The picture was taken in Northen PA. Here in Moscow area I used to see Tadjikian or Usbekian guys flagging. Damn nice R-model wrecker!
