  1. Not likely about the tank although you can use the other one for a long time.
  2. B models look in a good shape, that van with the tree is avesome! What the old Mack gasser is in betveen the Camaro pics? It looks to me not from a fire truck, has single ignition.
  3. Date? The time of arrival? Oh,yes, and the serial number??
  4. Paul, haven't you any pictures of that German U-boat? Maybe somewhere in the net?
  5. Interesting Paul, I can't remember I ever heared about that April date as original Barbarossa start. I was shure the June 22 was the choice as the longest day time.About the number of lost people there was a figure of 20 at Soviet times. When Perestroika starts it gets to multiply, I'm shure heard 27. On my mind nobody knows how many were in real. I saw myself the "Brother grave" as it called in Russian of 10.000 soliders. With no names, just a stone with dates. It was near a little village in a region of Rzev. The front line was there for 2 years of bloodfull fights without moving. If you remember, I told, Germans retreated from Moscow for some distance. They found a good enviroment and prepeared fortification. The city of Rzev was on that line. There were 200.000 of total lost just near the village I noted above.
  6. There is too much interesting in the net. You just need to find a correct place. I saw that site, it gets bigger since I was there last. All the info of the kind wasn't published so wide just 10 years ago. At least in open sources. "......." was the name of the book in Russian. It was avalible in the net as a full scan half a year ago. To my great surprize. But that bootleg copy dissapeared.
  7. Now I know the place of that first AC location. Are there any other dogs?
  8. Air income into fuel can make any issues including idle. It realises as bad engine work, governor may trying to keep revs so the play gets. You noted first that the truck runs strong, I don't think she can do it with air in fuel.
  9. Nice story, I just feeled by my back how you drove the ice road. Shure it's better to find out a pissing guy then a leak from anywhere the truck. Thank you, and for the pictures.
  10. I like how look these Volva's, lots of overhere. But it's better to put things in their places.
  11. I started to think to make a gallery in frames on shop walls
  12. Paul, thank you for sharing dora gun pictures and too interesting facts. I'm impressed too, 2800 sunked ships... Russians lost terrible number of people during the war, 20.000.000. But our land history told neither about other battles including D-day, Perl Harbour, Italian campaign and battle for Atlantic. These facts came on a surfase lately, after the Soviet Union times.
  13. There were six of.
  14. Brocky, I'm shure I have never heard anything about Marmon-Herrington here in Russia. Read that tread with interest. I need to note the guy Sergey "Trucker" is Russian, that's why he discussed actively about the Red army. You can see the pictures of the rocket units. There is a book "Автонашествие на СССР" published in Russia just in 2011, lots of interesting pictures including those. In general Lend-Lease theme was not popularized during the Cold war time, many facts were lost. As for Lend-Lease vehicles, Russians must take the rest of them back to the States, and many of them got out. I was told the story and read it later also, that vehicles were collected in ports, special American comission revised them, requiering all accessories in place and paint Ok, next load them on boat and transport onto a big ship in a harbour. That big ship was equipped with press to make steel cubes of vehicles. Many were not taken back but sent into far regions for hard work and away from journalist cameras. So most people in Russia know only Jeep, Dodge,Studebaker and Harley-D. Because they came in greatest number. Vlad. ("Vlad" is the real name, short from "Vladislav" I have in my papers)
  15. Never mind, two last pictures looks realistic and have their charm
  16. It's true Paul, I'm surprized and glad to know that you're interesting in that part of WW2. As for me I learned about Omaha beach (and was there) due to the interest for US army Mack trucks. It wasn't too popular subject in Russian common war history.
  17. I have the same issue in my R688 E6-350. It makes that way when it's cold. I suppose there's a governor in the injection pump, haven't made research yet.
  18. Better to see it with a sleeper. What is the rear suspension? "Mack rears on Mack 3 leaf tapered spring"
  19. Yes Paul, salt make it's job. A friend of mine drive Scania of 1989. He had to change frame crossmember under the 5th wheel because it was rottet through.Good quality cars ride 6-8 years rust-free, Russian Lada's get yellow stains in 2-3. When driving everyday in a city. Local roads are usually sended or just clean. Most roads of the central region I live have asphalt. There are locals made of sand-stone mixture connecting little citys, and too little villages have connections with ground roads. But it's in a distance of 200-300 km from Moscow. Russia is too centralized country. Civilization concentrates extremely in the capital and degreesing by a distance. It was politic of Soviet times, now it's a way of oil money distribution. Hitler sealed, yes, but first he covered 1000km from June to November with wide front. He hadn't powers enough. But he wasn't fool. Vent back from Moscow for 100km in a comfort area and fixed there his positions for next 2 years. Many were died by cold, he didn't prepaire for winter war. His plan was to accupate Moscow before winter starts. There was Napoleon in 1812 also.
  20. Hell!Out of comments
  21. Doesn't it out of the law?
  22. Thank you, interesting as usual. I like that hilly mountain land shots. How did those vehicles passed you crossing two yellow lines?
  23. Thank you for recomendations. I can also order OEM when know #, there are stacks on Mack online accessory, just I'm not shure they're of different quality chrome than GR. Vlad
  24. Yes, the truck does have. As far I think about different issues on the truck as far I get a mind of total rebuild. Troubles are floating out any point where Russian mechanics put their hands on.
  25. Looks not bad for the price. Engine?
