  1. Hey JP, yeah, we're not too far from there, maybe five miles but out on 119 near the Groton line....Rick
  2. Welcome JPSW, you'll find this place to be an encyclopedia of useful knowledge regarding all things Mack...take it easy, Rick
  3. Hey Tyson welcome to BMT, you are sure to find all the info and help you could want here. Good luck with your restoration....Rick
  4. Damn Barry! That is some nice work...
  5. Now that is just too damn cool....nice job, thanks, Rick
  6. Yeah, that was the old Kenworth CBE, my Dad ran one of those for Yellow way back in the sixties, had the sleeper laid out behind the cab and the engine compartment, single axle with a JT175, 5 speed main box with a cable operated two speed rear end, geared for 53 MPH but rarely went that fast....nasty truck according to him.....
  7. What kind of Mack do you have back here in the States? Whatever kind it is, be careful and keep yourself in one piece so you can come home and enjoy it. You guys are doing a hell of a job, have a Merry Christmas, Rick
  8. It should be a felony to export an E-9.....just kidding but its not like we can't use them here in the States and they're getting rarer than hens teeth
  9. Thanks Freightrain, nice job.....boy, miss a gear and you're all done, stop and start all over again. Thanks, Rick
  10. Hey Shawn, welcome to the board. I've had the great pleasure to talk to folks from all over the U.S. of A and beyond, they have all been very helpful and informative. Take care, Rick
  11. I don't generally have much dough left over for "extra-curricular" activities, but thanks to my lovely better half Linda we have been able to restore our 1976 Ford F-250 and set up a small machine shop so I can manufacture the parts I need to work on this invention thing I have going on.....the truck is fun, inventing is extraordinarily challenging. I have enjoyed seeing the wide variety of hobbies that BMT members have in addition to their trucks. Very cool. I'm going to attempt to attach pictures of our truck and mini-machine shop but I'm not so good with the whole computer thing so please bear with me, Thanks, Rick
  12. You, sir, I believe to be a hypocrite. If you would take the time to refer to the response from Deo and then examine the remarks that you made regarding said response, you would find yourself behaving in a manner that you are currently railing against: I quote" Seems like you spend your time posting silly responses....your time would be better spent taking a basic writing course....become buddies with a third grader, with a little work they should be able to teach you how to spell "like". To me it would appear that he (Deo) based his response on his own personal experience and was endevoring to share that with you and while doing so introduce a certain amount of levity to his response. I missed the point? No sir, I think you did and I for one applaud Deo for his forthright reply, Rick
  13. Well said Deo. If you spend even a small amount of time looking around BMT, you'll see that it is rife with all sorts of absurd spelling and grammatical errors but virtually all the members and guests here understand that the point of this fine site is to exchange information and ideas, and not for the petty critisism of spelling errors so don't let some mook with a hair up give you a hard time......and that is probably a run-on sentance(sp?) Rick
  14. What do you think about saying to hell with the old triple/doube frame setup and have a new heavy single frame bent up, punched and swap it in?
  15. Our '85 Superliner has been stretched and is double framed for most of its length, and tripled where the splice was made. What we are seeing is scale rust developing between the frame rails along the the upper and lower flanges. I am wondering how best to stop the progression of this rust and then repair it. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks, Rick
  16. What is going on with the boys over at Mack? The new trucks, starting with the messed up hoods on the later R models and continued with the CH series, they all look like the north end of a mule going south. Give me the old iron any day, but of course thats just me..
  17. Mr. Weatherstone, great pics and I thank you for posting them but what I really want to know is if I can use that line about your Grandmother....thats a riot!....Keep the shiney side up, Rick
  18. Hey Nigel, you've got me stumped on this one. I'm fairly certain that the engine is stone stock so I would imagine that the breather system is as it was from the factory. Could you tell me what I want to look for and what the benefit is for a modified breather setup? Thanks, Rick
  19. Hi Rick, Thanks for helping me out with this, just to clarify can I use the same steering box, pittman arm, drag link, spring hangers, shock mounts and shocks? I guess what I'm asking is can I just get a 14-6 FA and springs and bolt it right up? Thanks again, Rick
  20. Hello to all. We have an '88 RW613 that has a 12K front axle and I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap in a 14-6 front axle. Am I going to have to change the shackles, hangers, steering linkage, etc. or is it a fairly straightforward swap? Thanks, Rick
