  1. We had received our first ASET AC engine in the summer fall of 2003. The emissions reg was moved up from 2004 to 2002 because of noncompliance charges from the EPA. (look it up) So basically any truck with a late 03 build was to have an EGR system on it. I know a few with AI engines that are still going with the same terrible fuel economy and lack of pull. The AC truck we received in mid 2003 was the first Vision with Volvo frame and AC engine (both frame and engine changed at the same time. We could no longer order CH's because the AC engine didn't fit in the rails with that cooler hanging out. 2003 was the last year for the CH and the first of AC/AI engines. It was a Canadian test truck and it was a bag of crap. My own personal fleet would later have 4 ASET AC engines in it ranging from 04-06. We purged them by 2010. To many silly issues like belts and sensors.
  2. exactly.....all of that to a brand new truck shouldn't be necessary.
  3. I would be much happier if they just brought back the 80" version with subtle updates. A shelf big enough for a microwave and a larger fridge option would be a start. So simple. Its the complaints I hear from my drivers. They see them in other trucks and wonder why our trucks are so far behind. 80" would solve lots. keep the rest the way it is.
  4. These new Macks have way fewer issues then other comparable makes. The Pinnacle is overdue for an update but given the choice of another Make in our yard that has way bigger cabs and sleepers, I reach for the Bulldog everytime. Good luck with the new unit. It sounds like it's doing well. Everyone forgets about the one spec you can't order from the factory, Pride in your ride.
  5. Teeswater trucks? I've always wanted to restore a DMM. I have no interest in the pump or barrel. What would you want for the truck if you could find someone interested in the mixer unit? Otherwise PM me a price for the whole shebang.
  6. I have both 08,09 and 2013's. I've spent the same money on the 08-09's that I have on the 13's. Fuel mileage is close on all. No one has a Def system older then 5 years old so no one can say how expensive they will be the older they get. Egr coolers on my 13's are starting to plug up with no other engine issues present. I found out the coolers on the 13 production an up trucks have coolers with tighter internal passages. Guess what, 500000kms an it's out of that warranty. I've got them to agree to pay for parts but I'm stuck with the labor. Just had injectors put in with a few days left of warranty. My 08-09 have over 1million kms and original egr coolers. I'm saying my 08-09's are doing as good or better then the 13's. The bottom end of these MP's seem bullet proof. Keep up on the top end and they run well.
  7. Usually yes. There are such things as "super 40's" you may see from time to time. It's a 40,000 pd rear banjo (axle) housing with slightly heavier bearings and gears on a 46K rear suspension. Fairly common in Canada for strictly highway use.
  8. The Dealer you are buying it from is pretty picky on what used trucks are displayed for sale and which ones are basically for export/wholesale. They detail the heck out of them and send them for paint if needed. Th issues with 2012's are minimal and basically share issues with current production units. I wouldn't be surprised that the unit you are interested came from Northern Ontario and hauled some heavier loads. Up here if you buy a truck with 46 rears it's because it's hauling more then 110,000 gross weight on a regular basis. The 46 rears will drag your fuel mileage down a little. Trucks that have seen more bush then road usually don't look that good. This dealer knows where they bought the truck and asks what work it did before they picked it up. Make sure you ask the questions that make you feel comfortable with the purchase. If I needed it I would buy it.
  9. By "normal Canadian spread" you must be referring to 60" spread. LOL. That one looks like a 55" spread which we Canadians have become more accustom to as of late unless we are hauling maximum gross. You can get almost the same on a 55" or 60" spread. With 72" we can get another 1100 kg on the rear spread.
  10. That's a 46 rear truck. Up here they usually carry a ratio of between 390 to 410 or slower. Very few Canadian orders have faster then 390 rears with 46 axles/suspension. 373 is a good mix of both. You should be able to get over 6mpg (us) with that spec.
  11. The Dealer that has that Truck (Sheehan's truck sales) regularly deals trucks to t States. They will be able to help you with what you need to get it south of the border. I Deal with Dennis at that dealer. He is one of the owners of the dealership (it's a Volvo dealer)
  12. Congrats to the MackVader team! Did I miss the reason behind the switch from a setback CH to a setforward CH?
  13. I owned an 85 R688, it wasn't an Active truck though.
  14. Better with the power divider rebuilt?
  15. Nope. I worked at Grant a few years before that. I was a Mechanic there.
  16. I know of Kent and met Dave long ago. Dave I believe sold his last 5 CH sleeper trucks to us when I was at Grant Haulage and delivered out of the Toronto Branch when it was moved to North York.
  17. Is it a Vibration or like a rumble from a bad wheel bearing? Being a Mack Carrier, is it your power divider if equipped that could be failing. Mine. Was more noticeable at low speeds and fine at high speeds.
  18. If you know someone who can bring it across that cheap send me the info.
  19. From the album: More of our Macks

This 2000 Vision (100 year anniversary edition) a friend of mine bought (I was going to grab it but he wanted it more sigh) He has started to rebuild it. It's going for paint etc soon.
  20. From the album: More of our Macks

Sleeper removal. The bunk was damaged by the crane that use to be mounted behind it.
