  2. By the looks of that bunk door you've already used it as a beautiful planter box for a Mack guy. Lol. Are the brackets holding up those stacks any good and original. I will take a pass on that bunk. Thanks.
  3. Shouldn't matter too much for your intended use. Assuming it's an E-tech being a '98 they get more internal issues the higher the engine hours in comparison to other Mack engines. If it's under 20,000hrs you should be fine. Over that is where things can start happening. It's a rolloff, so lots of revving it to pick up the bin for the hydraulic system. Best to go have a listen to her running for any chirps, squeaks, rattles or abnormal idle issues.
  4. Rexdale keeps their rolloffs in decent shape. I would be more concerned about engine hours rather then miles. For those who have not operated roll offs in Toronto, Ontario, we overload and work the heck out of those Macks. No scales in Toronto and lots of construction work (full to the brim 20 cubic yard boxes of dirt) is a regular load for those trucks.

  6. Thanks to Fifthwheel for the hook-up on the Can-Am Bunk. Its in pretty good shape for sitting on top of a trailer for as long as it has. Fair price and loaded by crane to boot. It was a wonderful trip into Mass. and it was a pleasure to meet your friend Wayne and his son. Always a pleasure meeting more truck nuts...... Thanks again.

  8. If its a good 72" Can-Am shell and its cheap I will come get it. Where is the Chassis of this truck? I'm looking for stack brackets to mount the dual exhaust on the Superliner I have. Thanks.
  9. Are you kidding me????????? Tabernac! Ugh. Those trucks had some history. Do they want to sell the sleeper if its in good shape and how much $$$$ ???? I may have another project for it.
  10. Can-Am had both a straight truck Superliner and a Tractor Superliner that hauled Bunk models of all shapes and sizes they produced to shows in US and Can. Can- Am was a Company out of Quebec, Canada. Can-Am built the sleepers that were factory installed at the Oakville Assembly plant. Mack Canada in turn discounted the RWII's That Can-Am used for showing their products. I have pictures of both of the Silver with blue striped trucks. I will have to dig them up and scan them onto here. Although Alumi bunk and Mik Mac were available at Canadian Branches and dealers, both were not installed on the line. The best way to tell if your bunk is factory is by looking up the build info on the Mack parts system. Canadian trucks ordered will show by its exhaust piping arrangement. Most were ordered with under frame exhaust that was augmented by the bunk builder. My Oakville Engineering friend said that they used "Hockey Pucks" for the factory installed sleeper mounts because they lasted longer then any generic rubber mount. Don't get much more Canadian then that Eh!!!
  11. Hey Guys...... I'm looking for a SET of Superliner Exhaust stack brackets for the project if anyone can spare a set. If anyone has a lead on a couple of Crimson Red Elite Bostrom Air seats from a CH or CL Let me know. Condition of the seats can be so-so as I have had to reupholster them before and could do it again. (this model of seat is narrow and shallow) Thanks again...
  12. I did some research......Your bunk is a Can-Am sleeper. Of the 3 Canadian sleeper builders Can-am was the only one to mount the lower bunk storage door handles in the middle of the door. The other 2 bunk Manufacturers mount the door handle and latch at the bottom of the door. Hope that helps. I would bet yours is a Can-Am.
  13. Hmmmmm lets see here..... 8hr + trip 1 way....(Toronto area to almost Boston) Met some great people from The Grafton Mass. area...... Loaded up one of the best possible Canadian bunk specimens I have come across... Blew a trailer tire due to road debris at the NY-MASS State line.....Dohhhhh! Paid the $70 Canadian Border ransom to bring this Can-Am sleeper back to its home turf..... I would say one heck of a way to spend your Friday, and would do it again in a heart beat.....   14. I work on Toronto transit buses as well. We go through Allison harness like crazy. We don't even repair them anymore. The loom wears through the coating on the wires. We repair them in one section and 6 months later the break in another. Its been that way since the early 2000's with those cheap harness. Same trans 4000 series.
  15. Unless you are putting a Mack trans back in you will need the following...... To swap to a 18 Fuller 1800ftlb+rating (best option) you would need brackets, bell housing, extend driveshaft, reconfigure ECM to read speedo sensor and shifter tower/knob Good call on dropping the Mack Trans out. Put one back in, and enjoy the mistake I have made in years past.
  16. Oim going to guess yours is most likely a Can am if it is the same bunk since new. Your truck being an ex SGT truck from Quebec was most likely fitted with a Can am. They were manufactured in Quebec and had some small bunk models.

  18. I too have seen bad ones from the box. My question was to clarify weather or not you replaced just the actuator, as I have only had to replace the actuator on several occasions.

  24. Anyone have a line on a sleeper similar to the factory sleepers installed on Mack Superliners??? Were they made by Able Body??? I have a decent sleeper to work with (Canadian Alumi-Bunk) (out of business) but want one with cut outs for the exhaust to be cab mounted with mufflers. Must be mid/highrise and at least 60" long and preferably over 86" in width Just need a good shell the rest I can handle. i priced a new one similar to below and we are talking $15,000. (Mama won't let me.....) Something similar to below would be optimal. Thanks.
  25. Mack Australia did its best to distance itself from Mack's North American influence. Models like the Metro Liner which could do well in the North American city p/d market and heavy use of the Renault cross over products show a different influence on product development then here. A former Canadian Mack bigwig had the pleasure of heading down under for years helping make Mack a stronger product line. Its very evident his return to North American engineering rule had clipped his wings as he sunk back into the "toe the line way" of product development here. Customers here in Canada pressured Mack for years to make certain models like Trident, Aussie SuperLiner, and Titan available here for heavy haul. I know of customers that went as far as pricing out importing Aussie Macks to use here. Mack N.A.wanted no part of it. Even the interiors and sleeper options of the Mack models down under show a higher level of customer influence rather then US Head Office oversight. The current US Mack Titan is a prime example of Australian Mack leading the way in product design and customer influence. We here in North America got the "Dumbed Down" version of a well designed truck for heavy markets with no sleeper options while our Aussie friends get all of the bells and whistles. Sure there are certain models and designs that went from here to there, but you cant deny that Aussie Mack has a better coverage of all bases when it comes to available models from light city delivery to heavy haul. Something we lack immensely.
