Few questions here....... 1. When or how did the MH disappear in '89 when it was built into 1993? 2. Why do you refer to the Super liner II as something that never came out, when the end of RWS production it became Super Liner II (RW6-713) in aprrox. '86? 3 The RWII and MHII were more known as Aussie product lines, were they not? Australia has been an anomaly of wonderful Mack products and proper engineering. It is very evident that the North American control and influence was rarely there. Add to tha,t Aussie Mack has a huge integration of Renault products and designs in comparison to Mack North America. Today Australia still has products North America wishes it had. Australia gave up on the MH and Ran with the Magnum did they not? 4. I know you are aware at the end of MH production Renault tried to get Mack to sell The Magnum in North America. I was there setting up a Red Renault branded Magnum at the Toronto Truck Show in 1994 to test the market. (Lots of interest up until they saw the size of the sleeper compartment) Later you will recall they tried the Magnum again in 2000 with E-tech power and Eaton Auto shift trans. Were failures like this all about leadership as you put it, or more about poor product lines and change of market needs? Freightliner and International saw a niche and built on it. Mack choose not to. 5. 1992-1996 saw the growth of the CH and CL product line which were doing quite well at the time. At that time cabover orders were falling and companies like Scnieder and J.B. Hunt were starting to integrate coventionals into their fleets. Idiots running the show or not, Somehow sales giants like Freightliner and Navistar were able to continue to carry their cabover models into the 2000's and beyond. Mack became a company that says" Here is our product, make it work in your fleet". Rather then "What can we do with our cabover product to make it work for your fleet?"

The new Freightliners up here are Glider kits as well. Companies like Manitoulin, Packers Transport, Fairway Transport etc... All purchased 60 Series (RE-Powered LOL) Argosy Cabovers. They only had to be missing 2 Major components (usually axles and trans) and swapped out with an older Argosy VIN# which all fleets mentioned ran Argosy's. The rebuilt 60 series engines had almost all brand new parts on and in them with 90's emissions. The Manitoulin Argosy's are Tri-Drive rears with 20,000lbs front axle tractors with a 12' box mounted on the tractor (Also known as a "Super Truck") and haul 53' 4 or 3 axle trailers up into Northern Ontario and into Western Canada. The rules changed closing the loop hole in January not allowing any Gliders to be powered with less then model build date emissions.(2014 glider build must have 2014 EPA engine) So the sudden influx of Cabover or any worthwhile glider is over up here in the Great White North. The Fad has faded away.

Mack could have done all of that with the MH. Shame on pre Volvo Mack for not taking that design to its full potential. That's a whole other thread on here.
-
You could buy a fully dressed R or DM series cab assembled in an area close to shipping inside Macungie up till 3 years ago. The Chassis and door are stamped with the same Vin #, so i'm thinking it wouldn't matter how its ordered.

did you replace the turbo and turbo actuator separately or at the same time? The actuator needs to be timed to the turbo with a computer when replaced.
-
That and the C denotes Maxicruise ECM programming rather then the 505 Econodyne that was the only available Mp8 505 rating.
-
Duals are show on an inline 6 turbo charged diesel. The single pipe after the turbo provides a small amount of back pressure needed to help the turbo spool to its maximum efficiency. The pipe off the turbo is the start of any restriction and is all that is needed for its operation. Every inch of pipe after that just holds efficiency back or keeps the flow the same.

The bumper is chromed steel. Friggen thing weighs a ton. Only 2 left in Mack inventory.

Found the Hendrickson # and got 1 of my Mack dealers to get off their butts and cross it. Good# and a decent price at $500. The Mack OEM one was $1600

Black smoke but now power issues....... Usually if you have enough of a boost leak to cause heavy black smoke a lack of power issue comes with it. (Not always) I've seen over fueling injectors with good boost. Whats your boost readings? I've got some other ideas but want to hear some numbers first.

Do they order Eaton Auto shifts in their spec? A similar spec'd truck Blue with red frame and super single drives is sitting at a dealer in Ontario, Canada and they cant get rid of it. Its been there almost a year.

Fuel or Air issue and yes EGR valve issues will cause a lack of boost and thus black smoke....... Hang on a sec.....An MP7 rolling coal is pretty cool!!!! Too bad that DPF will plug up and its costing you alot in fuel. Remember the days when if your Dog didn't smoke a bit you set it up wrong.......Those were the days....... Excuse me while I slip into daydream mode of Mack's taking off from a light in a small cloud.

persist 8-5 8-2 codes
bbigrig replied to stackman1996's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Hmmmmm. If you changed the EUP's that are problem childs that takes care of those possibilities. I was going to suggest shooting the solenoids with like 100-200V and seeing if the solenoids fail. You have replaced all of the injectors so if properly installed they can be ruled out. Is there any loss of prime issues on start up? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but cant low fuel pressure cause those codes sometimes???? Strange that its the same ones everytime which makes me go back to wiring or ECM. There could be an issue with the ECM in the driver for those EUP's. If you say the wiring is ok to said EUP's you have ruled out a fair bit on your own. -
Because I have a bumper hiding in the bushes I'm not aware of or you are just that nice of a guy to come over and cut my lawn????? LOL.

Thanks Superdog.... I will give them a shout later today.

I'm looking for either a plain steel or chrome bumper for an RW II I'm starting to restore. I can get new ones from Mack but the price is slightly ridiculous at this point in the restoring game. Consider it a starter bumper so I can get this flat piece of crap someone thought looked cool on my Superdog, off of it. Thanks for the help.

Pssst.......His engine is an ASET....The wiriing for the EUP's don't go through the valve cover.....You may be thinking of an MP motor for injector wiring. (The only engine "Mack" has ever built with wiring into the valve cover for fuel management 2007 and up) (I know your heart is in the right spot martell) It probably is 2 bad EUP's that sort them selves out as they warm up. It happens like a bad injector. Or a crappy solenoids that needs warmth to operate better. But yes could also be wiring in your harness that runs along the block on the passenger side to the ECM on the driver side. Needs further Diagnosis. -
E-tech is 98 and up. V-Mac 3 was 98. last E7's I saw were 98 builds even in CL's E7's were the best.

Has Mack gotten anywhere on a fix for the 14.6 Mack front axle with unitized hub steering issues????? A friend of mine has just delivered a batch of CXU's with that front axle in the last few weeks and most are coming back to the dealer for steering issues. Is there a fix in the works as the DSM is basically having them chase steering box pressures etc.and he seems unaware of the amount of 14.6 front axle trucks with this issue. Sounds like a sweep this cluster-cuss under the carpet quick situation for Mack coming up.

Pretty good motor in a really good truck. Buy it!
