  1. Was that a Best Way Stone (BWS) truck??? Mint! Another Oakville save! Congrats!
  2. Are you in Canada as well? I see you are using Km's in your description. I
  3. The Combustion gas getting into the fuel system got worse as the mileage creeped up. I noticed my issue within 10,000kms of delivery. Luckily I turn wrenches for a living and have lots of experience in the field with everything except my current MP power. I'm starting to see they have common issues like everything else on the road. It was tested after the engine was hot with the sight glass in line to the fuel system after a road test. Its sad but the mechanic that agreed with me had diagnosed other similar units to the disbelief of the DSM when this problem started arising with my unit and others. You need to find another Mack dealer to bring it to. If it was driveline related it would do it all the time at speeds that would put the drive train out of balance. Breaking the torque/load by depressing the clutch is a good sign that its not a constant like a diff or drive shaft balance. while in motion at what ever speed, a balance issue is usually no effected by load or torque. its usually speed(RPM) and balance related. Diff gear wear or play still could be an issue with torque or load being the factor that effects your issue from re appearing. I'm still on the injector related problems. Keep on them till they come back proving that they tested the fuel system with the Volvo/Mack approved fuel system test tools. Not just some fuel return line into a bucket! lol.
  4. Had the same problem with my heavy spec 2013 505 MP8. has Meritor 46's with 4-way lockers. They did shocks, ride height blah, blah blah.....I said seems only under load and at Higher speeds etc. I suspected combustion gas getting into fuel system when hot and under load like I use to see on 60 series Detroit's (basically same injector/cup setup). Betcha every time you bring it to dealer you have a hard time proving that the "Vibration" is happening???? Mine turned out to feel like a vibration only to find out it was more of a studder. I was lucky 1 nightshift Tech agreed with me. Days would fluff me off like you. It got worse and worse to the point where it would finally "vibrate" when the dealer had there hands on it. After all the wasted time on drive train turned out to be Injector cups and a fretted(cracked) injector tip pushing combustion gases into the fuel system. At 20,000kms they did 6 cups and all 6 injectors. No more "Vibration". May not be the same issue as yours but mine took a while before they saw the bubbles in the fuel system sight glass test kit. Stick to your guns if you think this sounds familiar. If I hadn't I would have been like you. It took Mack almost a week to come up with the 6 injectors to change over because at the time they were replacing so many of them they had a hard time stocking them. I also adjusted my ride height back to where it was when it was delivered.(they lowered it to the point of almost covering the entire bag stool at ride height) It made no difference in my "Vibration" Keep in mind...If its a cracked tip or combustion getting past the injector and cup they are more common to happen under load and hot. Is this issue the same when you are running empty? My issue had to be hot, under load, and at rpm's that demanded the most fuel and produced the highest in cylinder temps. I see you mentioned when you depressed the clutch the vibration disappeared. This could also be you breaking the high torque load on the engine. Mine wouldn't vibrate unless it was under load. Bobtail it wouldn't produce this issue. Good luck!
  5. 1 of my MP's pushed coolant out of the tank on start up. As it heated up it sealed the combustion chamber to coolant passage in the cup slightly. It would pressurize the cap fairly quickly. This was an engine that was on its second set of stainless injector cups at the time of the leak.
  6. Injector cups is the usual suspect for that issue. I've had the same issue with my MP8's which is the same basic design. EGR coolers will usually blow coolant into the intake and combustion chamber causing white smoke out of the exhaust.
  7. Besides all of the Mack controlled reasons as to why the Bulldog is chrome or gold....It was an available option. The Dealer could order it or leave it chrome. Our '97 CH with both Eaton axles and Fuller trans was ordered with a Gold Dog just because we wanted it.
  8. I was shown a Cab model mock up at the Test center back in 2009 for the LE. It looked almost the same and I was surprised they shelved the updated cab for that long.
  9. 12 would do just fine.
  10. I heard that Westport has dropped Cummins ISX15L versions or Vise-Versa for the Natural gas Westport engineered engines. Westport will be releasing a new natural gas engine soon built on the Volvo D13 engine.
  11. Welcome to the Party...Eh.
  12. Same here.....its usually the cluster's circuit boards if the seat belt light comes on. I think it was just shy of $450 Canadian last time I had to replace one a few years ago. Comes as an assembly just swap the gauges over.
  13. Probably to be sold over there. It makes sense when you think about it. The MRU is a fairly reliable Chassis and what the heck, throw a rice burning power plant in there to make them think they know how to build trucks..... Has anyone else noticed we export our quality natural resources and import their crap on a regular basis. Guess our Bulldogs are no different.
  14. Pre E-Tech.....Good Call. Nice truck.
  15. Compression and Metric if I remember correctly.
  16. Interesting.....
  17. They are planning on making the M-drive available on the Granites when the contract with Allison to supply auto transmissions for the vocational models expires. The M-drive/I -shift trans is available on the VHD vocational truck. Its a matter of time before its offered in the Granites..
  18. I got some info on that trans. It weighs 1100lbs. They say its comparable to the weight of a T300 series trans with a clutch. It can only take 1700ftlbs of input torque and isn't much good for anything over 80,000gvw. No good for Canada. The guts of that transmission are ugly!!! I'm told international is the only OEM to take this trans on. It wont make it into anything from Daimler Benz or Mack/Volvo because it directly competes with their own Auto shifts. No word on Paccar. Mack's deal with Allison is about to expire so the M-drive can be offered in the Granite as Allison is the only auto option.
  19. I've had the speedo drive gear shaft(#2) in the picture above crack its square drive. (the end where the pin drive connects) I've also had 1 gear shaft drive wear the teeth off. didn't need to replace the gear in the trans that drives that speedo adapter shaft.. Those shaft gear drives were hard to come by a few years ago for my R and MH models with Fuller transmissions and are specific to your specs.(trans gearing, rear ends, tire size etc.)
  20. Like it just came off the line. Nice job.
  21. Ugh...that can be an ugly and expensive job. Some can get away with just changing the troublesome bolts. Other jobs I've seen can be a nightmare with multiple breaks the further you get into the job. Some needing manifolds due to cracks and erosion of the bolt holes etc. Hope yours is nice and easy.
  22. Get the truck checked at the dealer for leaking cups and injectors. You may be getting combustion gases into your fuel system. Most of our injector cup issues happen as the engine warms up. Are you having any loss of prime issues during start up? You could have other issues here as well.
  23. I've had many of the 90deg. speedo adapters spread where the tang drive dowel inserts into the adapter. the split end opens up and the tanged dowel spins inside the (female) split of the adapter. I went through a couple of them on 1 truck in a few weeks. It was way worse up here when the temperatures dropped to below freezing. I always went through more of those adapter drives in the winter. Even with that small ring around the split in the adapter drive they have a tendency to spread enough open to allow the tanged dowel to spin within. I got warranty on all of those adapters.
  24. The Turbo on the Non-EGR engine is also not a Vaned turbo. Didn't notice the make but it is not a VGT trubo (Variable Geometry) I believe the Holset is a sliding nozzle but complicated just the same. Oh how I yern for the simple diesels in life again.....
  25. Gear driven fuel pump if filters are ok. I had one fuel pump come and go with stalling issues on an E-Tech engine. Pump was the issue.
