  1. 3406C? in an RW713? Wasn't that the one with the Electronic TPS? The sensor on the throttle was a huge silver cylinder. CAT's first attempt at Electrifying the 3406B. I've only seen one 3406C (PEEC electronics) engine in a Mack and it was a CL test truck which was originally tested in Canada by John Grant Haulage in Mississauga but got sold to D&W forwarders. John Grant didn't want it because it smoked like crazy at 460hp rating. Never knew the 3406C was an option in the RW.
  2. The black MH cabover we had was equipped with an E9 engine. The MH had an air intake up the rear of the cab mounted to the rh stack bracket. Guys that would run MH's with under cab intakes out in The Western Canadian Praries, always complained that if the wind was blowing across the front of the trucks that the E9's wouldnt suck enough air to pull effeciently. Like our E9 which use to run Western Canada, it was equipped with a stack intake to prevent the cross wind issue. The intakes under the cab of the MH`s were set back from the grill quite a bit if I remember correctly. The RW did have an underhood intake option but I thought it was only optional with E6 or E7 motors....Its underhood intake snorkel would be mounted right up beside the rad and charge air cooler on the passenger side. always thought the air cleaner housing for the E9 was too big for under the hood mounting. Could be wrong though.
  3. I would Drop the pan, apply rail pressure to the fuel system and look up for leaks. Bar the motor over too in case its an EUP leaking at a plunger seal when under lobe pressure from the cam. You will also see if its your timing cover plug leaking into the pan if its dripping from the forward end of the block.
  4. The drivers that had never driven the MH with the E9500 and were slipped into it for a few runs would always say "when she pulls hard on the hills it sounds like the engine thumps" Most drivers at that time with us had never driven an E9. They had no idea The Whispering Giant had a different sound to it. The ironic part is that the MH with the E9 was far quieter inside then the MH with the E6 we had. We had a very mild muffler on that truck to get the natural sound out of her with those tall exhaust pipes. Some call it a "warble", some call it a "thump", I call it the best damn engine sound I've ever heard......Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I'm waiting patiently for a gentleman who has 2 MH's with E9's to sell them to me. He tells me when he is ready I get first dibbs!!! Until then, I miss that "Thumping" noise.
  5. Your paint scheme reminds me of I think it was a company called Mercury tank lines? from Ontario. I really like the stripes. Like the visor. Looks like a visor that belongs on a Mack, Not like it belongs on some Paccar product.
  6. From the album: More of our Macks

Black wheels were getting weird looking so we "chromed them"

  9. The 1989 E9500 I Miss My MH's! The 1986 E6-350 Love your MH.Cabover withdrawl sucks!
  10. I've heard and read stories of those 2 Titans getting rolled and wrecked constantly. Both trucks were in wrecks as I understand it. Its almost as if those trucks were cursed for them. Should speak to the Titans toughness, not their downfall. Anyone that would buy one of those CAT trucks needs their head examined as far as I'm concerned. Hope they got it for free.
  11. If the pins are loose or there is a bad connection at the injection plug harness connection (big grey plug near pump) That can cause some idle issues. Give the plug a twist and pull. If its faulty it will rev up and down or stall. Wouldn't hurt to Check your TPS (throttle position sensor) input to the ecm.
  12. Epic Trucks! I always loved the "Whispering Giant" name for the E9-500 engines in some sales literature up here in Canada. Was that name used in the U.S. for the E9's as well?
  13. Test drove a 2013 Titan tractor months ago for the heck of it. Double frame 46 rears on air, 20fr, Alum wheels (all), 605hp and fuller 18sp. 242" wheelbase and a 70ton holland fifth wheel. That Friggen thing Tared out at almost 23,000lbs! As per the factory weight door sticker. What a truck!
  14. Welcome.
  15. Most of my electrical problems for either of my MH's traced back to the large silver 30 pin connectors behind the LH head lamps (large deutsch body wiring plugs) Tons of problems with corrosion and (Ontario road salt) getting into connectors. Loose pins as well. I've had signal problems through that plug. If i remeber correctly, are there grounds that come back down through some of those plugs?
  16. Love the aux box adapter for the jack.
  17. Agreed. That Engine was a good one. The early 90's CH's were good trucks.
