  1. For those who have seen or worked on any of the new DD series engines, its quite obvious with all the small prefabbed fuel lines, Banjo fittings, Block design etc... that the engine was designed for the most part with European influence. If you actually compared the DD series engines, PACCAR MX's, Volvo/Mack(/MP's and MAXXForce engines for Euro trash accessories and add-ons, The Volvo/Mack seems to have less European influenced crap hanging off them. (So I've seen) I know Engineers from Detroit as well. The ones I know say the American influence was about as equal to the roll out of the MBE's. Sure there was testing in North American trucks etc, for the most part the engine was ready to go when it came over on "The Boat"
  2. I thought that was you......small world eh.....
  3. I had a Rawhide like that one.....I miss that rig but dont miss that ASET motor.
  4. Excellent job. Very hard to find people that put as much heart and effort into restoring trucks with such detail as you do. Keep the pictures coming.
  5. Should be on one of the sides or edges of the Valve covers. usually on or around the serial plate (the blue plate). If its a reliabuilt reman engine there will be a serial plate on the block near the head passenger side usually. Great find, Best of luck. Silver V892's were usually 435hp and 475hp that I can remember. Congrats!
  6. @Vinny......were you wearing a blue hat and a blue shirt that day at Macungie?
  7. 3rd visit this year.....the kids want to come this time....oh boy.....
  8. Besides being a really nice guy, Dave Mckenna is one of the few true "Mack Men" left under the Volvo regime. Good for him speaking up about the fate of the E9. My Father worked with Dave at Mack Canada and speaks very highly of him.
  9. I'm running 2 brand new set back axle Pinnacles. getting excellent fuel mileage (Avg.8.3 mpg Impereal) and only fit and finish warranty issues to report at over 50,000kms since Feb 1st on each. What we gain in fuel mileage from what we had from our 2008 Pinnacle, we lose in DEF fluid with the plus of no regens so far. All good.
  10. The Borg Warner turbo's were problematic as well. 2 of my trucks had vane issues.

All of that for a friggen pin hole rotted through the frost plug on the rear of the head.....
  14. I had a 2005 CXN (355-380 Maxi cruise) that would puff black every once and a while (would make a choo-choo sound with it at times) wouldn't happen all the time but there were days when it did it would loose a lot of power and almost shut the truck down coughing black until you let off the throttle and let it "gain its composier". It turned out the Vanes in the Turbo were worn and starting to stick from time to time. Check the turbo operation....Seen the same problem with the 60 series DD EGR engines. Good luck.
