If it was an original fire chassis I would think that it would have a dual ignition. My B95 was ordered from the factory with an exterior oil bath air filter, as I understand the standard air filter style was not efficient at removing contaminates from entering the engine.

I replaced the plugs in my 707C with the J8C. This plug was the replacement for the original I believe. Mark

I don't believe there should be any "cost" to the volunteer rescuers to register and follow some simple guidelines. I think that being registered would allow these folks to be admitted to areas where law enforcement would restrict other non-registered parties. In addition having officials understand what type of boat you have, the capacity, and if you have lighting, number of vests, and so on may be helpful. Understanding what resources you have may also allow the state to fund additional vests or other needed equipment to the volunteers, along with compensation for fuel. The most important thing for officials to know is who has been rescued, their names, and where they have been relocated to. Accountability could save other responders from searching a property that has already been evacuated, thus directing resources to where they can do the most good. I think the intention is good, just not presented clearly.

Sad ending for such a beautiful and still active piece of equipment.

Not sure how far you want to travel, but I heard that Cal Little with Pennsylvania Pump Primers has some CFs he is parting out. You also might want to call Lancaster Upholstery http://lancastercountyupholstery.com/ . They made up a new headliner for my B model and have the templates for them. No sure about for the CF. If you do make a connection with Cal, and he has the part, he could bring it with him to the Pump primers Muster in Harrisburg this year. Again you would have to make the trip, but lots of great things to see.

Lots of good items. Interesting how things that were "new" a few years ago are for sale. A lot less clothing & t shirts I thought. Good crowds and they appeared to be buying. Mark

Mr.Buffet has worked for his wealth, unlike Trump who inherited his wealth or borrowed a "small amount of money" from his father (1 Million). Buffet admits that he pays less in taxes that his administrative assistant, and want the government to change that. He will, along with Gates, eventually donate all of his money away. I don't see Mr. Trump ever doing that. I'll take Buffet's opinion over Trump's any day. His opinion may be overly optimistic, but I rather hear that then "the sky is falling". Buffet statement also includes a lifetime of experience in investing and looking at future trends. Although no one can see into the future it is refreshing to hear someone say that they believe that the future will be better.

As a businessman Trump has been able to make the decisions and everyone has to follow that. He will not be able to do that if elected. Pennsylvania now has a governor who was a businessman. He has not been able to get any of his budgets past and doesn't seem to be willing to negotiate. He wants to raise taxes to pay for the depths that could have been avoided by the past administration and others. I watched a program the other day in which the owner had 100 plastic molding machines that run 24/7. The facility was huge and latest in technology. The factory floor employees 7 people - that's it. The owner explained that model is the only way he can compete with China. So if factories are ever brought back to the US, they will be automated and have limited workers. It's the only way to be competitive. We all want/need quality products to fill our needs, and want them made in the US. Could we afford it or be willing to pay the price? I think that someday when the workers in other countries want the same lifestyle we have, they will demand a higher standard of living and pay. At that time we may become competitive again or be able to product goods at fair price. Until that happens we will continue this course. My 2 cents.

Saved one FDNY Mack
Mack458 replied to Firemack's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Great job John. Let me know if I can help, Mark -
As I understand it the US has been bombing tanker trucks that are hauling oil for ISIS. They reportedly drop leaflets because the trucks are only transporters trying to make a buck, the leaflets telling the drivers to stop and run. Their truck is then destroyed. While the French have hit ISIS targets, the US has been waiting to have them occupied and then hit them. We need to be involved but every other country has to have some skin in the game. I think blaming any president for what has or has not been done, but they are making decisions based by the facts and recommendations they have at the time. If Kennedy would have listened to some of his advisers during the Cuban Missile Crisis and launched missiles, the Russians would have fire back. He made decisions on what he knew and felt was the right thing to do. There are some very smart people on this site that is for sure. We need to respect each others opinions and be more civil. I for one have been attacked by David Wild on this site, and called things that I am not. If you don't agree with him, you are an idiot as far as he is concerned. He has a lot of hate - I think he needs a hug!

Pierce manufacturing recalling 910 fire trucks
Mack458 replied to kscarbel2's topic in Trucking News
I don't think it's fair to call anyone who likes Pierce "cool aid drinkers" because they like a certain brand. Some would say you get what you pay for, and some think paying the highest price brings the highest quality - not always true. On the other side, the City of Chester purchased a new ladder from another manufacturer to replace the Pierce tower. When officials visited the factory to see the new ladder, the drive shaft broke off. The truck was repaired and delivered, and the drive shaft has broken off two additional times. The city may have to sue the manufacturer, and had to place the aged Pierce back in service to have a ladder. Truck didn't let them down. They also have a Pierce squirt that is a reliable work hoarse for the department. Two other companies in the county bought new towers - almost twins. Both of the cabs started to crack at the welds. Not Pierce products, but cheaper. A lot of it depends on the committee ordering any truck, what they want the truck to do, and how they take care of it. Sometimes it is better to spend the extra money and get a better tool that will last longer, and provide better service than going cheap. KME is built in Pennsylvania and has improved greatly. But they were the cheaper choice and had numerous problems, and some spent more time in the shop than in service. I don't see that as a good investment. My 2 cent. -
engine rebuild
Mack458 replied to Willie dog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
When my 707C was rebuilt, I had good luck with Olsons Gaskets in Port Orchard, Washington. No cheap but very good products. I would get the fuel and water pump rebuilt. Check on the Mack Museum web site as they have a list of parts/service providers for these things. Mark -

A suggestion would be to contact SPAAMFAA and see if they have a registry, or can get the word out about your search. Mark -

Trump says he'd deport illegal immigrants as U.S. president
Mack458 replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
A friend of mine is a police officer in an area that has a lot of Mexicans who work the mushroom farms. He pulls a car over one night for swerving into the other lane and lines everyone up along the car. Nobody speaks english so he looks at the driver and tells him his zipper is down. Low and behold the guy looks at his zipper - he learned english very quickly. -
My email to Kim Davis (that KY county clerk in the news)

This woman has every right to deny issuing licenses, but that is her job. She is not in trouble for just not issuing licenses to gays, but everyone. She is paid, just like all of us, to perform a task to the best of her ability. If I don't do my job I get fired. She needs to look for another line of work that will respect her values and move on. As many of you have said in one way or the other, it's not my business who does what, unless it affects me. I respect her right to speak her mind, but I do not respect her denying other peoples rights.
