Check out McMaster Carr corrosion free bead chain lanyards. They may have the larger loops on chrome or stainless for around the 2.5" caps.

I placed two of the Pertronix systems in my 65 with 707C engine without much trouble. As was stated the instructions come with the unit. Make sure to specify positive or negative ground when ordering. As far as information I would contact the Mack Museum with the serial number, and also Oreland Fire Company. They still have a fantastic CF in service and are good guys. Also try contacting Supplee Brothers pump service in Oreland @ 215-884-1611. They are members of Oreland and most likely can tell you everything about the truck, including photos. Again great folks to work with. Mark

I like dealing with McMaster Carr. I have never dealt with Graingers. If you were to place an order with them before noon and have it shipped to a business address, you will get it the next day. Being in Philly, most of your orders will be shipped from New Jersey. If you go online to order, it will state when it will ship and from where. They accept return with no problem. Good quality items.

The name is Roto Ray and was big back in the 50's. They seem to have been making a comeback in the last few years and now offer LED lights. I think the company is a small Mom and Pop operation, or was years ago. Yes they are unusual and effective. While most are mounted in the center, the Washington Fire Co. in Conshohocken, Pa. had one ALF engine that the light was mounted on the drivers side. I have a friend that has a retired truck and places a green bulb in the fixture at Christmas.

Joemac, some of the B-125s had a longer hood and radiator area to fit a Hall Scott motor for the increased pump capacity. Not many B125s were built to my understanding.

joemac, in August of 2009 I went to look at a B Model pumper for sale. Next to it was a C model from the Barto Fire Company. I can't remember the gentleman's name who had the trucks - Firemack may know who it is. Anyway this fella had retired and bought a few Mack fire apparatus and stored them in Bristol, Pa. I don't think he ever got to really enjoy them - the B model I was looking at had sat for seven years. The Tallman Fire Department in New York eventually bought the B Model back and wanted to restore it. They may have contact information for you on the last owner.

Currently a 1983 Mack CF pumper in Hudson, Ohio for bid on GovDeals.com. Truck has under 21,000 miles, white in color, and still in service. Pump certified Spring of 2013.

Bridgeport, Ct. currently has about 5 R Model dump trucks for sale on GovDeals. They are all listed as "scrap" but it looks like they are very good parts vehicles. At this time the bids are from $10.00 to $710.00.

I have had two friends in the last few years where God watched over them. One guy wrecked a new work truck (pickup) on his way to socialize in Philadelphia. Bad wreck but able to walk away with a shattered wrist. The medics take him to the hospital and they do a chest X-ray to check his lungs. They find early cancer and treat him with success. Another friend has a back problem and they scan him only to discover bladder cancer. Treated by surgery and all is well for now. I don't worry about being late or going home because I forgot something. God may want me to avoid something by being late, or as in RowdyRebel's story, there for someone else.

I imagine that one of the big problems is that the seller has an idea of the profit he wants to make and won't budge. There are many folks on this site that know the real value of a part or complete truck. I was told once that I paid too much for my B Model - but it was exactly what I wanted, and I have no regrets. There is a guy not too far from me that is cleaning out his parents business that has a lot of B Model stuff laying around. I stopped to talk to him and offered to post items to help him make money, but also save what could be used. He made it clear that he would rather scrap it than deal with people that want to argue about prices, or don't show up at all. And as many of us have witnessed before, the complete trucks are going to be "restored someday". I know on my last truck I contacted trusted friends and got good ideas on pricing. In the end I ended paying a little more than I had planned, but it was a truck I really wanted.

Can anyone tell me what the normal operating temperature should be for a 1985 R Model with an Allison Automatic Transmission? Mine is running about 200 degrees. Thanks in advance, Mark
