  1. Other Dog- overall rates are way down due to the economy. Strike one Some people (Rob) will tell you that if the truck don't run, you don't get paid. Strike two It seems that you are assigned a truck and get paid by the wheels turning. If the truck breaks, again, do you not get paid? As an O/O, no work= no pay, but I would think as a company driver you get paid by the clock. Rob, no employees are the true beauty of being self-employed. No hangovers, wife bitchin', plain ol crap attitudeNot taking care of equipment, yada yada. We're doing good, just wish it was better.
  2. Well, I got done running and then comparing 2008 to 2009. Total Income down slightly Expenses down signafacantly Net income up nicely. * Expenses were down due to lower fuel costs.(almost $5/ gal last year) repairs and Maint. down(seems I had more tire problems last year) ** I payed myself more this year (expense) but i still did OK I still have several acoounts Rec. worth about $13K To all the O/O, self employed, or owners of business- how was 2009 really?
  3. Happy new year back. Sorry that you are now truly unemployed. Do you plan on doing JUST maint. work (oil changes, grease)? or want to go REPAIR? If just service, a box van with IBC tote of engine oil Waste tank, grease barrel and air comp. would be a good start. If you can land a large company and then get all filters on hand ($$$$) you can be draining one and refilling another at the same time. Find service intervals and oil types they prefer. You have to show how you can save them money while still providing quality. If you can show them experience and proper training, they may take you on. Many years ago, I thought of doing the same for Heavy equipment, but the contactor I was going to target turned out to be a deadbeat for money (not mine) I looked into a Ryder moving truck, small one with the storage over the cab for filter storage. Blah, blah blah...... Good luck Ed
  4. What a steal. Truck looks good. As a matter of fact, all yhem look good. One question, with the Granite, after all the chrome was added, could you get more $ for work. I'd like to add some , but it doesn't pay any more than I'm getting now. Good Luck with the CH

  15. That sounds real good I visit a fishing forum(A) that has some people that are fanatics about smoking. Quite a science of cooking, wrap in foil, yada yada. I do mine on the grill at about 200 degrees for 8-12 hrs. Always moist Down here the wood is not as available, so I buy hickory or find some oak. Have heard that orange tree wood gives a fine flavor. will have to try it sometime. (A) I know that there is only ONE forum, and I'm on it now
