Not at all trucking related, but I just feel the need to mention this to eveyone I know. Without going into the long story with all the details, my friend Kenny is a Columbia City, IN police officer & a Thorn Creek Twp firefighter and his wife, Julie is a Whitley County Sheriff Department dispatcher. A nightmare came true for them Thursday night at approx 11pm. Julie took a 911 call of a house fire.... from their 15 year old son. Yes their house was on fire, Kenny was 1st on scene and had to fight a fire in his own home after Julie took the 911 call of their own home on fire. Kenny has stressed. Check your smoke detectors, they save lives. Have a family emergency plan, They do and it got both of their sons out alive and unharmed. They did loose one of their 3 cats in the fire. I want to stress, check each of your outlets and all of your power strips. Kenny believes that the fire started in a powerstrip next to their bed. This is the power strip that had his scanner, police radio charger, police radio battery charger & fire radio plugged into. The new 800 radios that the department has gone to has a duel battery system and he believe that this was enough to overheat the power strip. T.

http://www.millerind.com/ Miller makes the majority of heavy recovery units built for use in the U.S. I personally like the Centruy line of heavy recovery units. They market Holmes, Vulcan, Chevron, Century, Challenger, Champion, Eagle, Bonafice & I believe a few others. As far as I know, as I have not been as involved in recent years as I use to be in Towing & Recovery AATAC, Jerr-Dan & NRC are still around as well as a few others. I have heard a rumor that Miller has also bought out Bill Bottoms, who owns(ed) B & B but have not seen it in print. Below is the 1995 Mack CH613/Century 5030 that I use to run.

I sure hope all works out with the puppy but try to keep yourself prepared just in case... The old saying, Mamma know's best often fits in these situations. 11 or 12 years ago my sis-in-law had two mares drop at the same time, both colts seemed completely healthy but Baby would not nurse Spanky, kicked him away, etc. My wife, father-in-law & sis-in-law stayed with him 24/7 bottle feeding him & cleaning him, etc. All seemed normal for 3 years then he just dropped dead. An autopsy was done, turned out he had a brain issue from birth and it was suprising that he lived for more than a few months. I don't know how they know, but mamma's seem to know... I really hope everything turns out good for that little one. I rescued my dog just before a deputy was gonna put him down do to being an injured stray. Spent a bunch of money getting his injuries taken care of and he was malnourished. Just when he was looking real good the vet called and advised test results indicated heartworms. Spent more money and got him thru that as well. He is the greatest dog I have ever had.

That one was a 1970 F795LST. The V8/5speed was long gone when I got it and had been replaced with a turbo'd 711/Tri-plex. "Superdog" owns this one now.

My F had the torsion bar system. The main release was a parking brake looking thing on the doghouse just at the entrance to the bunk then the secondary was a cable release just inside the passenger door behind the seat. With a pump system it may be completely different. The handle is visible in this pic facing to the right.

I thought I had a better pic of his Trailer that he pulls with the Mack but this is the best I got. Perhaps Larry has a better pic of it because he put a lot of time & effort into it and it is very nice.

50 Mack B Models! Need help!
Terry T replied to tkobes43's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Probably not... I took the below pic several years ago at "Superdog's" place. This is only one row of trucks and there were several more and since then he has added to his collection. -

50 Mack B Models! Need help!
Terry T replied to tkobes43's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
As far as moving them. Another option is to find a towing & recovery operation in your area that you can work out "trade" with. You do mowing & landscaping right? Most tow yards don't need much in the way of landscaping but you never know. Snow removal could be a option. I part-time for a towing and recovery operation and I also do snow removal. I have met them at winter accident sites and cleared snow from the roadway/shoulder and even grassy areas so they can get better footing for the recovery trucks. You provide the right service for them, and perhaps they can move some of your trucks when it works into their schedule. -

The basic truck is a CH600. A CH612 is a Mack powered single drive truck, a CH613 is a Mack powered tandem drive truck. I cannot remember any more if Mack offered any other power in the CH but during the run of the CL Cat power was avalible and they were CL753's and Cummins Power was avaible and they were CL733's if memory serves me. The MH was the same/similar as well.

What This Switches Do ?
Terry T replied to garcia26233's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
I was selling Mack's in '99 and we had one customer who ordered all of his trucks with these switches. He runs a flat bed operation and wired work lights thru the Ign Feed. Not sure what he used the Bat Feed for. I think he is the only one we ever added these switches for. None of our stock units were ever ordered with them and I don't think any other customers ever requested them. -

Rob, Talked with one of my customers today. He is an Atlas agent and he recommended contacting Supreme ( http://www.supremecorp.com/ ) in Goshen, IN. They would be your best bet to do what you desire. He also said that Kentucky would do the same but would be much more expensive and probably "over" built for your needs. T.

Shawna Robinson got her start racing in GATR (Great American Truck Racing). A guy I use to drive for, Steve Slaybaugh, also race in GATR and Ernie Metzger of Silver Lake, IN (Metzger Trucking is still in business) had two trucks that ran GATR, the Liberty Belle and the Dixie Belle. Liberty later became a pulling truck and I have been told that Dixie is still used as a yard dog at Metzger's. Metzer also built a truck originally called General Lee (You guessed it, orange) but later changed it to Super Trooper complete with red & blues. Don't know what happened to that truck but Liberty is still around and resides in Wiconsin now. In the below video, Jim Bickle is driving the Liberty Belle. Steve started inside of row 5 at this race in Atlanta and on a side note, my dad went to this race with some guys from work and some of their customers. I think that Steve was actually driving the Dixie Belle in this race the #77. He drove for a couple different owners in the series. The 1st pic I found on the net, the pic from the back (poor quality) I took when the 2 Belle's were on display at Baer Field Speedway in Ft Wayne. I had several pictures but most were lost at some point.

Ole' Girl Met Some New Friends
Terry T replied to leversole's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I took this picture several years ago at a fellow BMT members place. I have used it as my computer wallpaper ever since I took the pic. -
After looking at the picture, the good thing is: The driver that wrecked this truck only lives about a mile from me now.

Mark, Being around 1966 I would say that is a CO-4000, which pre-dated the 4070. I have only seen shutters on 4000's, never on a 4070. Our fleet of 8 1974 4070's and shortly after 3 1975 4070B's were added. the unit numbers ran from 280 through 290.

So how many batteries did you end up going through Rob? It was a pleasure to chat with you next to the green CF Yesterday a.m. although it was mostly you and Freighttrain chatting, I couldn't get a word in edgewise! hehehehe.... T.
