  1. Maybe he doesn't want to be seen in that Pete. Tinted windows on big trucks are not one of my favorite things.
  2. Yeah, you would think shots on goal, there should be one or two that look decent.
  3. Well, I am still here. You had come up and bought some B model parts for us quite a few years ago. I just checked and realized that I have been a member here since November of 2005. Boy time really does fly. The names on here have changed over the years, but the character of the people is almost always of the best kind. Maybe, I don't post as much as others, but I like to check in on how things are going.
  4. Notice how the Sunset driver is wearing workout/athletic pants. WTF?
  5. Mertel is out of Peru,IL. As far I know, they still independently owned and run Bulldogs!
  6. Volvo enthusiast? That's not a nice thing to say.
  7. That is Chris. His Granite is down for a few days so he's using the RD for hauling trusses.
  8. I drove one for 4 years. Wish we never sold it. 300, 2 stick 6 sp, 3.87 rears on 34000 camelback and 200" wheelbase. Rode great and light wieght!
  9. They were heading to a dirt job we were helping somebody out with in Naperville. To bad we can't make the brokers run Bulldogs!
  10. Kuhn had about a dozen that got left at Northern Illinois Mack when HWK closed. We have 2 Mack Granites with the AMI 400 hp, and they couldn't pull a sick whore off a piss pot. The 427's are decent, but even that isn't saying much.
  11. I think I know the trucks you are talking about. Pretty sure they are old Harry Kuhn trucks. Believe you would have to swap cams, turbo, and timing? Those 8 spds are the 3 dirt gears 5 street gears type. The pricing and mileage are attractive, but I think it would take to much money To make them usable.
  12. I like that IH 4300 at the Bettendorf Auction. Good thing I have to work tomorrow.
  13. We have a CH cab. PM me if interested
  14. I am partial to Dodges and now Rams, but I bought the wife a 15' Ford Expedition XL with the Eco-Boost. Runs real strong, but the mileage is right around 15 MPG +/- 1MPG. On the other hand, my Ram Ecodiesel does 25 MPG + /- 1 MPG. I like both vehicles, but if had to buy another truck right now, the only thing holding me to a Ram would be the mileage. The Ford is just a damn nice, solid vehicle.
  15. Get the shippers and receivers to start treating drivers with respect by, dealing with them in a timely fashion. They don't seem to understand that drivers, and the support staff behind them, would like like to work a some what normal amount of time each day. 12-14 hours days seem to be the norm either Union or non-Union, despite what Teamsteragrrrl thinks. Looking at the work we do, Chicagoland, the norm was 3-4 loads a day around the city and the Burbs. That has slowly become a 2-3 load day due to a number of reasons. Yet you need to make "x" amount of gross revenue per day to pay wages, benefits and God forbid make a profit. So rates need to go up and productivity goes down to maintain the status quo.
  16. Yes, it's from last year at the Lockport yard.
  17. That truck is from Rockford,IL.
  18. we use Fleetmatics, and are happy with them
  19. I could have swore that we just spoke, and you didn't even bring this up.
  20. thanks for the Info! My guess is that are not al that common around the Chicagoland area.
  21. We looked at a 1979 RL600 a while back and it had a rear suspension that I have never seen before, not that that means anything. I'm just curious as to what it's technical name would be. My best guess is that it is a Mack version of Hendrickson extended leaf. You ride on the leaf springs when empty and on the walking beams when loaded. As far as the truck was concerned, it was a fairly clean factory 20k steer axle with an aluminum frame. The radiator was soft, busted leaf spring on the right rear and trunnion was in tough shape. We couldn't get together on a price we could work with, but the suspension still has my curiosity.
  22. We haul a lot of recycled "commons" brick. We've hauling off a demo job in South Bend IN for the last couple of weeks.
