  1. Every shift, is a smooth shift. No mater how hard you push the fuel pedal down, it's going to do it nice and steady. Tire wear, u-joints, suspension parts, and fifth wheels are seeing the benefits of automated transmissions.
  2. Everything is working great here. I don't even remember what the old set up was like already. The site format changed maybe like 8 years ago and we got used to that. For the record I like the new mack logo. But this is my favorite.
  3. We are currently running one Mdrive. Tire wear is incredible, not to mention other benefits of smooth shifting.
  4. Got an idea here, found a reasonably priced 2011 CXU. it has low miles and a MP7 motor, and it has a manual Fuller trans right now. The question is, is it possible to put a Fuller autoshift trans in to it? Off hand we are thinking ecm reprogramming, and possible wiring harness changes. That is besides all of the obvious things. Take out auto shifts are readily available and reasonably priced. Before anyone tells me to just find and a truck with an autoshift, or to hire drivers that can shift trucks, i just want to state that this topic at this time is a brainstorming session. We have made the decision that all new/newer trucks from now on will be some type of automatic/ autoshift.
  5. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Like you said weld some stock in there to take up the difference.
  6. My Dad had that Mack 10 sp in an 82' Cruiseliner.
  7. a Mutt isn't all that bad.
  8. Thank you everyone, it's a true pleasure to get to do what you love to do, everyday.
  9. When I was a kid it was always fun to go down there and look at used trucks. Barberra, Carry, Bulkmatic to name a few. Dad bought some old Carry trucks over the years from a fella named George Risckus. They hooked us up with a "body shop" to paint an R Dad had bought. We went to go get it and it was the wrong Orange and the wrong stripes, not a problem they said, we can fix it.
  10. I'm gonna guess and say that the one that had Orange paint also had 24.5 tires. There was an outfit that hauled garbage that had 2 tone orange and yellow Macks that I believe Marnia bought out. I cant remember what there name was, but I remember seeing there trucks at Chicago Mack down on Archer ave.
  11. Cream bad brown R model is Del toro
  12. $84 a ton Friday at General Iron
  13. I had an 84' Ford Ranger diesel when I was in high school and I wish I never sold it! I bought a Ram 1500 ecodiesel back in February and have 16000 miles on it, and so far it's great. I drive 15 miles to work and the truck gets 25 MPG's compared to me 06' Cummins that got 15 MPG's on the same run. A friend of mine bought a hemi at the same time and can't get out of the mid teens on mileage. My truck is fairly plain and I got out the door for $34K, a similar Hemi would have been $32K. So far I'm really impressed with the mileage it gets and the over all quality of the truck.
  14. I took mine out. I never cared from them at all. Kinda wish I would have welded the side one shut also when I was painting the truck.
  15. We are one of the few really small players.
  16. I would rather not take anything else of this truck, I have a clear title for it also. I may have a stack bracket around. I will look
  17. 1997 CH rolling chassis. Cab has rust. Doors have some rust, but not too bad. Ball and seat budd wheels. 4.17 mack rears. $2000 or best offer. PM if interested.
  18. Your #180 could be a sister to our #64. Old KTSI truck by chance?
  19. The Skyway does save a considerable amount of time. $15 one way for about 10 miles of road is a bit pricey, drop the price and it will get more use .
  20. Yes, that is Dad's truck. When we did the air ride, we lengthened it about a foot. He says it doesn't ride as good as the taperleaf, isn't as light as the taperleaf, but holds the road better than the taperleaf. It's an 87' that he bought from the Pete dealer in Waukesha in the early spring of 94'. It was an one owner trade with 150K miles, truck was flawless. 300hp, 5 sp. It was short, so we rolled the trunnion back as far as we could and pieced in the rear part of the frame. Well that summer the drive shaft that we had a made, because of the added length, came apart up on I-94 by Watertown WI, the drive shaft took out the air tanks , which made the truck want to stop right now, which caused the truck to jackknife, pretty much totaling the truck and breaking a bunch of Dad's ribs. After that, the truck got a new cab, frame rails and the sleeper. Dad missed one day of work and was back at in #17, an ex-Plote truck, until his was back in service. I don't have any pre wreck pics. It was red with a Stark sticker on the door. Since then it has had 2 motors and the trans swapped from the 5 to a 12. Oh, and for the record, he normally doesn't wave to anyone.
  21. odometer says 550k, hour meter says 35K. We bought it from a guy that bought it from KTSI, a he had a major done on the motor. Since then he have rebushed the rear and rebuilt the front and put a clutch in it also. Nice truck E-7 350, 8LL on camelback.
  22. Was jackknifed a few years ago. KO'd the cab, and bent the frame. The air ride susp lives again under the sleeper R model and the motor and trans again in Tanzillo #22
  23. That's the plan over winter. See, my kid bother will turn 18 in February and of coarse he's gonna get his license. So he's been looking at trucks and now he thinks that the Blue RD fits the bill. We have been doing a lot of our own painting and he will be helping with it which makes him appreciate it a lot more. Hood is busted up on it pretty bad. We have hubs for the rears and the rest of the truck has been gone through. Makes sense to me, unless he finds a decent Superliner for next to nothing!
  24. Mostly consists of the warm glow of victory.
  25. Nope, Kirtshopher from Wadsworth. I bought some new fuel tanks from Mr. Salce, great guy.
