  1. Your project looks great. I have an R-model that I hope to be doing about the same thing to soon.
  2. I have a 94' RD that came from the factory with air ride. Between the frame rails and the hangers there is a 1/8 of plate to take up the difference because the CH frame sits a 1/4 inch wider. We also have a 80' R770 that was put on air ride and it is done the same way.
  3. From what I have heard, it is a E-9 with a 12 speed factory built to be a lowboy tractor.
  4. Great article. Can always count on Krauthammer to tell it like it is.
  5. I'm over that way a fair amount and I don't see why what the county says wont work.
  6. You are correct. I could not. I'm to honest.
  7. You just can't beat a 2 stick 6 with a sweet runnin 300.
  8. Dad and I had an all out bargaining session with old man Apell. The 3 of us went back and forth and it got loud and crazy. The whole time the secretary just rolled her eyes at him. The line of the day from old man Apell was that he doesn't sell trucks, he sells the folder with all of the paperwork for a particular truck, once you have the folder you can get your truck.
  9. no offense Trent, but once you have kids those trucks will be in the attic collecting dust due to your lack of time. They pretty cool though.
  10. Seems like 99% of the equipment at Apell has a fatal flaw of some kind. That poor superliner has Reyco susp. or all the frame splices on that RS. It would be a challenge to find something normal there. We bought two RS mixers out there and it was an adventure. Looks like the MH was normal and it was saved from siting there a long time.
  11. I think they come from Hribar up in Wisconsin.
  12. The red R model was at Nagel/Axle equipment in Batavia back in April. It's an old Harry Kuhn truck. Prolly should have bought it myself. A trip to Apell's is sort of priceless, they have one of everything out there. -Brad
  13. They have MP 7's in them with generic trans and rears in them. The driver I talked to really like his. -Brad
  14. That sure looks like an old Harry W. Kuhn Mack to me. -Brad
  15. I think the Fuller 15 is often overlooked. Everything you said there I agree with. If you can't handle a Mack trans, get ourself a smash and grab slop box Fuller. -Brad
  16. I agree, I am also not a fan of the 8 lug wheels. Otherwise it is pretty sweet. -Brad
  17. Rowdy removed it cuz he knew it would be $500- $1000 per year to keep it working. Thankfully he isn't a panty waist. - Bradps. I hope I didn't offend anyone that is a panty waist, but A/C systems are a real pain.
  18. You should stop in Chicago and learn how not do things on many different levels. If your coming thru Marengo and need a hand, look us up. -Brad
  19. Great name for an outfit that runs Macks. Blunt and to the point. -Brad
  20. You always see something interesting at the Airport . -Brad
  21. Nice solid R-model there. Bought a 90' RD688 this week with the same transmission issue as yours. The one we picked up is an E-6 350, mack 9 sp, 5.02 rears on camelback. It will be a spare truck for us. -Brad
  22. I had to take my brother's R model today to go out and get a load of gravel. Everything went fine until I had to get out. Neither door would open. Well I had to get out to get my ticket, so instead of kicking out the passenger windshield ( I was a bit PO'ed), I crawled out the drivers side window. So once I got out I monkeyed with the doors and they wouldn't open from the outside either, now I'm really pissed. So I crawl back into the truck through the before mentioned window. I'm 5 foot 10 inches tall, 250 pounds, and my left arm is in a cast damn near to my elbow, and let me tell you, getting back in was a lot harder than getting out. I make it back to the yard and start "discussing" the problem with my brother, to find out that the drivers door is touchy and so is the passengers. He tought is was real funny that they were both having fits at the same time. Living the dream can be a bitch. -Brad
  23. It all depends on how they are speced. We have a 05' granite that is 200# lighter than me, and 97' CH that is 800 lighter than me. We had a 95' CH that was an old Carrey Transit truck that weighed in at 16000# with a wet kit, toolbox with gear and full of fuel. It is all in how you spec them. If you swapped out to aluminum unimount hubs with aluminum wheels, center fuse drums, aluminum cased carriers, get down to 2 batteries, and left your lunch box at home we can get your tare weight down. -Brad
