  1. I replaced mine about 8 years ago with led ones i bought off ebay. They have been great, and I like how they look. -Brad
  2. I have the covers with out visors, and my brother has the visors. my vote goes to visorless. -Brad
  3. That never happens. -Brad
  4. Our Fruehauf and Hobbs were from the early 80's. The front ends were diffidently the weak spot. They had a good empty weight. The Dorseys on the other hand were heavier than all get out. I forgot about the old Stoughtons we also had. They were a well built lite trailer. - Brad
  5. For a few years we took great pride in running the oldest grain hoppers in our area. Had some Dorseys, Fruehaufs, and Hobbs. Ran the piss out of them and by last year had sold most of them. Crazy thing was that we were more proud of those old trailers than our newer ones because of all the work we had done to them. Shit, one of them I bought out of a junk yard and we had to rebuild the whole front end and re painted it. -Brad
  6. I was shocked to see them out. Had to check what month it was. -Brad
  7. Saw 3 Greco R-models east bound on the Elgin-O'hare expressway just yesterday. They always look like time capsules. -Brad
  8. They are still an all Mack fleet. Besides intermodal, they also do a lot of garbage transfers. Another outfit that ran a lot of Macks hauling garbage was Barbara (sp?). They ran a lot of R-models. Orange with yellow and white stripes. I haven't seen them in years. Can't forget Carrey Transit, my Dad had bought some of their used trucks. They run Volos and IHs now. When I was a kid it was an awesome experience to go to Chicago Mack with Dad to look at trucks. The big fleets would trade in 20 plus trucks at a time. It would take the better part of the day to go through them to find one that wasn't all molested. It was always amazing to see how f@cked up a truck could be, after only a few years in the wrong hands. - Brad
  9. May not be able to kill it, but sure as hell can abuse the shit out of it. -Brad
  10. What are you trying to say wise guy? We gotta a few friends , over by there. -Brad
  11. The last one belongs on the "Chicago R-model" thread. Palumbo Construction. -Brad

  13. Mike is Brian's father. -Brad
  14. Yeah, the white one with the blue stripes. You were checking it out when you picked up the seat. Married life must wearing you down already. - Brad
  15. Hopefully John will make it out next Saturday. I haven't done to much too it as of right now. Switched out the hubs to Uni-mounts all the way around. Cleaned a lot of stuff off the frame and moved the air dyer. Time and money are hindering me right now. -Brad
  16. I did my part and saved the "Salmer" truck. Al, do you pictures of it when it was in it's prime? I don't care to much when the crappy ones go for a boat ride, but when it's a clean, nice spec'd truck, it's hard to see them go. -Brad
  17. I saw quite a few R's and RD's the last few days. I am not real good at taking pictures and driving. I will work on it. By the way, where is BCR Al with the Chicago Mack of the day? -Brad
  18. Brites may still be around, but they run a lot of KW's now days. -Brad
  19. I tell guys that a Mack transmission is for a driver that knows how to properly shift. Any one can smash and grab with a slop box Eaton/Fuller.-Brad
  20. I don't care for the Bulldog mirrors. My preference is the stainless ones that say "Mack" on them. -Brad
  21. All of the signs in McCook are in 3 languages. Spanish, polish, english. The place is crazy. I was at the counter at Mack in Summit one day, Polish guy needed a belt for his truck and the Counter man asked "whats it for?", polish guy "CH 613" , Counter Man "Last 6 of the VIN?", Polish guy "CH 613" they went back and forth like that for awhile until someone stepped in that could speak both languages. -Brad
  22. You took those words right outta my mouth. They used to rule Vulcan in McCook. -Brad
  23. I saw this story yesterday and I loved it.-Brad
