  1. I am pretty sure that the Black truck is not an Eagle. The interior is looks to be one notch over the "Deluxe" steel. The real plain 4070B's I've seen had hard plastic over the dog house. I had one that had some trippy ass reddish shag carpet on the dog house and a power passenger window. Dad said it was one of the nicer interior packages available. I have to take his word for it because I was not born yet (I'm an 81')-Brad
  2. I have seen a few of them with Cat engines. Between my Dad and I, we have had 4 of them and they were all Cummins. -Brad
  3. If that truck is as nice as it looks, it's worth every penny. You couldn't buy the truck and restore for that money. -Brad
  4. We have had ours back to the dealer many times about the lack of power/fuel economy. They would do some computer things to them and there would be no difference. After a lot of bitching the GM of the dealership told me that the AI engine wasn't suited for our line of work. At that point I asked why they helped spec these trucks for us? He didn't have an answer for that. Besides the poor fuel economy and lack of power, they are great trucks in every other way. -Brad
  5. I remember spotting those trucks as a kid riding with my Dad. Those bumbers always stuck out like a sore thumb. I think they also "rolled" pipe. -Brad
  6. The Kamp's are one of the most professional outfits out there. They have been friends of ours for years. If we have a truck go down on the "South" side, there is no one else to call. We had a 97' CH cough a fan belt at 130th/ Torrence once. Local dealers didn't have a belt or anyone available to go change it. Before our guy saddled up for the 2 hour/90 mile drive, I called the Kamp's. Within 60 minutes they had my guy rolling. They don't come much better than those guys. -Brad
  7. We made a 55 gallon drum batch of "Chloride" once that was lil' strong. The damn drum got so hot you couldn't touch it. Sat it outside untill it calmed down. -Brad Ps. Those sprayers are always a pain in the ass.
  8. The last 2 weeks around here have been pretty lame, no one open, no one in to take a call, let alone return one. We have a few customers that will not be open until the 7th. To tell you the truth, the whole month of December was pretty lame as far as people showing up wanting to do their job. I was a jerk for asking a guy to go after another load at noon on the Friday before Christmas. Please note that Christmas was still 4 days away. All the people who checked out the last month will be whining in a few weeks that they are broke. Same old shit. I think the economy would improve if everyone showed up with a decent attitude Monday morning. -Brad
  9. I think we are? Al would know better than I would. I am pretty sure I overheard the Big Guy setting up the catereing for the big event. I started working on that R-model I bought. It may be back in the shop by then, but I am not sure. Also ran across a Hendrickson Torpedo nose that I would like to aquire, but I do not want to part with any money right now.- Brad
  10. 2 inches lower would be key. The seat I got from you has worked out great. -Brad
  11. I know the guy you got that seat from, he thought it was a turd. -Brad
  12. We had a driver that drove here a few years ago that referred to camelback as "camel break my back". That guy was a D-bag. -Brad
  13. Its a little differnt here in illinois. You can leagally haul 72000 on a short tractor/trailer combination. You could add axles to your tractor or trailer and it will not make a damn bit of difference. You also need a SHV sticker from the state to do it, otherwise they take you down to the federal bridge formula which would only give you 66K or 68K (dont have the Illinois chart here). This would be why you need your truck to as light as it can be with out it working against you. 500# every load on a tonnage run really adds up. -Brad
  14. Your Dayton hubs can look just as cool as far as I am concerned. White rims, black hubs, silver wedges, chrome nut covers and hub caps. Just touch up the paint once in a while. -Brad
  15. We have had all of our 2005 and newer Mack transmissions apart for one reason or another. Most them acted up early enough to be covered on warranty, but most had synchro problems again once they were out of warranty. I agree, not what one should expect from a Mack trans. -Brad
  16. As long the Tanzillio's and my self are running RD's, you are going to have some very tough completion for the best looking RD in the Chicagoland area. Just putting it out there. -Brad
  17. The grille you posted is for an RD 800, I think. -Brad
  18. I used to see those " Noogle" trucks all the time. Having a truck sitting is worse on it than running it for sure. -Brad
  19. Was your RD one of Aurora Blacktop's trucks? -Brad
  20. That was some fun reading. -Brad
  21. We run spread axle trailers like that with the forks on the back. When empty with the front trailer axle down and the fork on the rear, there is almost no wieght on the fifth wheel. We have lifts on the front axle of our spreads so that you have weight on the truck when empty. There were reports of guys having premature wear on the locking jaws and trailer pins because of the trailer pulling up against the fifth wheel when empty. Running empty with that fron axle down and the fork on is not fun, especially in the rain. -Brad
  22. We bought 2 Mack mixers from them 2 years ago. It was a real adventure to say the least. If its a truck that was built in the last 30 years, they prolly got 2 of them. A guy could spend a day there looking at all the messed up things they have. -Brad
  23. That's a damn fine specimen! -Brad
  24. Sorry guys, we gave this one a home .-Brad
