  1. As soon as I saw that Superliner I knew the truck, and knew where you were. It was for sale way longer than a year. The gentlemen used a sales technique that I have seen a few times. It started out at $8500, then 7500, 6500, and all the way to $5500. This is we're I kick myself, because then it dropped off the Internet for awhile and when it showed back up it was back in the game at $9500.00. You were only maybe 20 some odd miles from our shop. -Brad
  2. We have a 97' that has done this since new. Had it looked at a few times when it was new, nobody seemed to worried about it then. Had 2 other 97's that did it too. -Brad

  5. All of my gauges have chrome covers. Pretty sure I used ones for a Peterbilt. Bought them from Iowa 80. A few of them wouldn't snap completely tight like the others. Just put a dab of clear silicone on the back side of them, come to think of it, I had to do that on the big ones for the tach and speedo. If you measure them, you can call Iowa 80 and they will help you out. Bigrigchromeshop.com is also very helpful. You can also get chrome cent covers. Seeing as none of the chrome places really list anything for Macks, you have to get creative. -Brad
  6. I have been wanting one of those for my truck for years and have not been able to find one. I'm sitting right now waiting to get loaded and I'm tryen to figure out where I would put my lunch box if I had that seat. Right now it sits between the seats behind the shifter. Real estate is not real plentiful in an R-model. -Brad
  7. I believe that both sides want what is best for the country, and for the people who live and work here. We just have different perceptions of what is best, and different ways to get there. I vote with my religious views front and center, and my pocket book second. That being said there are almost no Democrats that I can support. There are a lot of Republicans that I also can not support. If you make your decisions based on God, family, and country, we will come out of this in the end. -Brad

  9. The biggest problem for me is the assault on traditional American Values. My Dad taught myself and my siblings to work hard, be accountable for your actions both good/bad and stick up for your beliefs. Right now that looks like it is not working. Was I taught wrong? Why are so many envious of success, but do not want to emulate it for themselves? I believe that is what this election came down too. Mean while, I went to work today, and I am being unloaded right now. At least for the moment I have a place to go. -Brad
  10. The neighbor had an 87' Superliner out by the highway most of the summer. I had been waiting him out, to hopefully get a good price. Then Friday morning I saw a guy looking at, and Friday afternoon it was gone. 350, Mack 9 sp, Mack rears on Newway damn straight truck with a solid hood. Prolly gonna kick myself. I did save an 85' R-model from the exporters this summer. 350 hp(fresh oh) dynatard, 12 sp, taperleaf, new frame rails, new trunion, factory a/c, full tan interior, 187 wheelbase. I'm pretty proud of it. I hope to get it on the road next spring. -Brad
  11. I have dispatched myself so that I will empty out with my last load about a 1/2 mile from my polling place. I can't wait to get in there and do my part. -Brad
  12. The first Mack I drove around the yard would have been my Dad's 87' R-model. Unit #14, 300, 2 stick 6. The first one I drove to make a living with was an 84' R-model, unit #17, 300, 2 stick 6' camelback, was an old Plote Construction truck. When I was 18 years old, I thought I was pretty cool with that old girl. Started out pulling a dump hauling gravel and asphalt. That didn't last too long because I wanted to pull a flatbed like everyone else and haul block. Here I am now, 30 (31 in 6 days), and I wouldn't trade it for nothing. - Brad

  14. I have seen a few tans that had the overhead console in tan. The 85' that I recently acquired has the tan overhead console. -Brad
  15. I like the purple stuff from California Customs. I have used it for years. My brother and my Dad are fans of Gords Polish. I am just tired of having to polish all the time. Aluma Clear claims that their product can last 2 years. The other thing I have noticed on the wheels that I have treated is that there are no water spots on those wheels, compared to the untreated wheels. Can't wait to get the rest of the wheels and tanks done. -Brad
  16. I found Aluma Clear on Craigslist last winter. I called and talked to the owner about what his product did and how it was applied. You use it on a polished aluminum wheel, and it coats the metal to maintain the shine. Kinda of like do it your self "Dura-Brites". I did my steers 3 weeks ago, and the finish is holding up remarkably well. I have been in and out of a lime quarry alot the last couple weeks and normally the lime would stain the polished finish, not the case now. Tomorrow, I am going to take advantage of the rain day and do my drives and tanks. -Brad

  19. We run both Timpte's and Wilson's. My personal hopper is a 2012 Wilson Commander. Before that I was pulling a 96' Timpte. In the long run I think they are both great trailers, that with proper care will last a long time. -Brad

  23. Tire gauges are great but, it depends on whos using it. All you need is a valve stem to stick or leak after checking it and now you have flat tire that the driver is not going to check, and the tire will be destroyed. Pressure is checked at every PM and the shop guys are walking the yard when the trucks start rolling in. 20 blow outs in 2 weeks, 15 of which were side wall failures. Maybe that's why I have been a ill grumpy lately. Mowerman, you are right about this newer generation, but is not an age thing. It more about how they cut there teeth in this business.   24. I was quoted $352 dollars to do 2 axles. Slpwalker , what issues have you heard about them? There's a check valve in case of a blow out. Other wise they maintain equal pressure. Watch the "Cats" eye check pressure and repair as needed. We have had a real bad run on tires lately. It's just getting to expensive not to try a different a different approach. I just wish the drivers would thump their tires and report any suspicious tires to the shop. Seems you can't teach some people how to thump a tire and you sure hell can't make them do it. -Brad
