  1. Does anyone on here have any experience with Cats Eye tire pressure monitors? I was thinking about trying them out on one of the trucks. I look forward to your input. Thanks, Bard
  2. I just went and busted the shit out of the timer in the kitchen. -Brad
  3. I have an RD that was set up that way. Fuller 9 sp od with Mack 4.42 rears. I didn't like it all. I went and found a 13 sp Fuller to put in it. Problem was that the 13 sp I found was a direct, not an overdrive. Now I'm pretty stupid, cuz I didn't relize it until we got it all put together and I had no top speed. Went digginig through all spare parts and found a set of 3.63 gears to put in it. I can cruise 65 MPH at about 1600. The low hole isn't quite what I would want it to be, but I make it work. On a nice highway run, pulling a flatbed I can usually pull 6-6.5 MPG's. Not bad for an ol' Mack with a million miles on it.
  4. My Dad is a big fan of the Eldorado seat, even though he hasn't had one since the mid 80's. I was thinking about one. I gotta know how much$? Thanks, Brad
  5. I am too young to have watched "Moving' On" when it was originally on, but I found it on YouTube. I thought it was a good show. If it were on now I can see my kids and I watching it, and enjoying it. We watch Hee Haw almost every Sunday night on RFD. It is so hard to find good stuff on TV to watch together, Nurse Goodbody doesnt hurt either. -Brad
  6. I always look forward to "Otherdog's pictures of the week". I am glad that he gets to see some cool stuff. -Brad
  7. I have always liked those 4200 IH's. Looks great. - Brad
  8. That is the truth. - Brad
  9. I would put the work into finding the problem and fixing it right. We have multiple Mack CH's with over a million miles on them and have had very little issues with the electronics on them. We had a fella that wanted us to convert his Vmac I to a mechanical so that he wouldn't have to buy a new ECM. We did all the math on man hours and $$ to convert it, and it was cheaper and less work to just fix what his problem was. -Brad
  10. We swap our steers side to side every other week. We had been swapping them every 10K miles when we did a complete PM service, but we extended our service interval to 15k miles. We saw tire wear issues right away and made the call to swap them every other week. Now we are seeing them run out nice and even. Keepin mind to that our trucks a mix of on/off road, city, and highway pulling a variety of different trailers. I talked to a fella that was running some type of wheel balencers that mounted between the wheel and the brake drum. Claimed to not have to rotate tires at all and get 150K miles on a set of steers doing local dump work. That seemed a ill to good to be true. -Brad
  11. I had a set of BFG DR444's on my RD a while back. I did not care for them on wet pavement at all. They always wanted to skid when braking when the road was wet and they just didn't feel right driving down the road in the rain either. As far as steers go, we have been running Bridgestone R250's and R260's. We have been getting a good amount of miles out of them and you have a good casing for recap. We rotate our steers every other week. A lot of labor, but with the cost of tires going through the roof, it just can't hurt. Not to mention, when you get the tires off you can look at all those greasy parts a little closer. -Brad
  12. I like the use of spray foam on the door of the U model. We had a guy that used to come by and have us work on his old Superliner. If it wasn't for spray foam and blue silicone his poor old truck would have fallen into a pile of rust, grease, and dirt. -Brad

    Vin:

Haul combines. Had a guy tell me once, that you haven't done any real trucking until you have hauled combines. Everyone one has a niche they get into and hopefully they get good at it. You have reefer guys, freight peddelers, lowboy guys, dump truck guys, OTR guys, flat bedders , grain haulers and tanker yankers. If you get a guy in telling you that he has pulled every type of trailer out there, behind of every type of tractor ever configured, he is full of shit and there is a reason he is looking for a job. -Brad
  14. Just sent a very Nice Superliner over to Afrca yesterday. It is a shame indeed. -Brad
  15. I havent seen any U-models any wheres and I have been a looking. My Dad had U model that he bought and flipped about 15 years ago. I painted the wheels on it before it went up for sale. It sold to an exporter and before i could get the VIN# off of it, it was on a ship heading across the big drink. -Brad
  16. 2 things I find hard to believe is; first off, why isn't Rob hot on this one? Second, Why hasn't anyone reported the VIN#? -Brad
  17. I see that truck quite bit around the Chicagoland area, I have seen it pulling a reefer. That just shows that an R-model Mack is just about as handy as a pocket on a shirt. -Brad
  18. Years ago we used to deliver a lot of brick and block to the Menards stores all over northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and north western Indiana. Years of getting treated like dog poop only because you are driving the truck that is delivering the products that they sell, got old fast. I lived under a self imposed Menards ban for years. Then a couple of years ago they changed how they did things around here and all of the sudden you were spoke to like a human, and in and out in about an hour. Once and while you have a problem with one of their associates or it takes a while to get unloaded, but it is not every load like it used to be. I go in there every once in awhile ow days. I think you just have to watch what you are getting, they do seem to have lower quaility items once in awhile. -Brad
  19. I forgot to mention that it would have to have some wild ass factory stripes in our company colors (orange and white with gold pinstripe). 200 inch wheel base, single stack and a chrome breather. -Brad
  20. GMC General. It would have to have a 8V92 with an Allison. -Brad
  21. Hey Rowdy, did anyone get down to the bottom of all the trouble around your neck the woods? I want to say it was back in ealry spring? - Brad
  22. I sold Sam a Kenworth W925 a few years ago. He is a class act all the way. -Brad
  23. I was thinking the same thing. Actually, now that I think about it, I was trying to romance some trailer lights on a trailer I bought tonight. -Brad
  24. I like to buy and sell stuff. My wife says I sound like a different person when I am putting my "pitch" on. - Brad
