Though we Ran Case, Cat, Liebherr, & John Deere though the years . Pop always kept IH /Dresser TD7's (for finish grading) & TD15's (for land clearing & building lakes) (now dressta) too . He always said if ya wanted to push hard ya bought an IH . When he was a young man He helped build I-55 From Memphis, TN to Sardis, MS operating a IH TD24 Push Dozer pushing scrapers . He said the man he was working for then also had D8 Push Cats . He said the TD24 Would out push a D8 But he also said if wanted longevity ya bout a Cat over anything else cause the IH Would be in the shop before the Cat . There was a guy pop helped clear land for subdivisions ,strip malls & rightaway's for roads. He had a TD25 W/a straight piped V8 IH Diesel in it . always liked the sound of that ole dozer esp if he was helping us build a big lake & was in a hard push. That ole dozer sounded Bad to the bone . :later

bulldog man replied to Rich Reinhart's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Thanks for Sharing very nice pics there . The pic of the s/a GMC 9500 Tractor reminds me of pops 74' GMC 9500 S/A Tractor he had for many years except his was solid white w/ black frame & hubs w/ belly blower exhaust . oh how I miss hearing that ole 238 Detroit LOPING ON A COLD WINTER MORNING Warming up . & hearing the echo of that ole 238 against the wall while going under an over pass on the big road in Memphis . makes me want try to find that ole truck & restore it . later -

Macungie Videos:
bulldog man replied to umodelnut's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Good videos there Vinny . btw I subscribed im B422T Mack on youtube ( that's the model of "old dog") . you'll see my ugly mug shot from bout a couple of winters ago (ive got to change that pic as I've lost even more weight since that pic). -
I've said once & i'll say it again the Mack Titan is a V%L#& VHD In Disguise . Sad that the truck im named after has too much European ideas slammed into it for the American market for my taste. @ least when Renault owned Mack they let Mack pretty much do their own thing .

Back to original
bulldog man replied to jackb61sx's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I agree w/ Mike : I like either way . but I bet your hearing will thank you later as when I was younger id straight pipe IH Farm tractors, Cat, Case Dresser dozers & loaders & a few 3 cly & 4 cly Detroit stationary motors pop had & I operated on a daily basis. Now I catch myself every now & then saying : What ya say ? -
bet its got a 671 (238) Detroit in it too .

Yup the ole stick steer duce 15 & duce quarter Kitty Trackhoes . pop had a 215 & his buddy had a 225 w/ the 3208 in it both stick steer . those were the 1st 2 excavators I learned to operate when I was bout 10 or 11 yrs old . what was a challenge for me learning how to get used to john deere control pattern . 1st time I tried was a 2nd buddy of pops (who he sub contracted for a lot) pc 300 Komatsu set up w/ the pattern changed around opposite of the standard (or as pop & his buddy called it John Deere Controls). I almost swung a 54" bucket into the side of A 16' bed on my pops 79' DK Autocar . I was bout 15 or 16 yrs old @ the time . I told pop & his buddy I wanted Our 215 Cat in that dirt pit bad lol.

Matter fact Randy the show was on my mind when I was working out today. After 7 yrs of not owning a truck of my own im having with drawls of owning another Maybe by next year I can get that Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier p/u I want to ride in so when I want to go out of town I can leave "jimmy" (my 94 GMC 3/4 Ton) @ home. I Missed going to MATS In Louisviille this yr w/ a couple of buddies . but always wanted to go Macungie truck show though its a bit of a drive from W.Tn

Completed Mack U686 model
bulldog man replied to Whiskymack's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
very nice -
Very Nice Pics & though I know it's the Gospel truth , the more I hear What V%$*O Is doing to my name sake the more Redneck I get about it . Herb Ketter (H K On BMT) Said it best on a Facebook post in a Mack group there "@ least when Renault owned Mack they let em do their own thing." I Hate the new master the bulldog has & just hope the bulldog winds up like so many other American companies the 5 LETTER CUSS WORD THAT STARTS WITH "V" & ENDS WITH "O" has done to them & slowly killed them off like GMC another truck I made quite a bit of money w/ next to Mack & Autocar. Or reduced them down to hardly nothing (like AutoCar now just a lonely low cab over garbage truck) or rebranded other (like Ackermann excavators or Champion graders ) I'll come down from my soapbox now & yall have a great one .

I've always hated seeing a perfectly good running truck cut up for parts or scrap . -

Pop used to have a buddy who owned a truck lot & salvage yard in Memphis years ago . Pops buddy used to buy a lot of the old UPS Bulldogs & as soon as he got the MH & F Model Macks to the yard he had guys cutting the cabs into . 1st time I seen that happen I was 10 yrs old & balled like a baby over seeing a perfectly good Truck being cut up because of UPS Rules & Regulations . I THOUGHT IT WAS THEN & I STILL THINK IT'S TO THIS DAY !!! Sad just sad to see a perfectly good bulldog cut up . later yall -
Myself & my family has ran our fair share of GMC 9500's ,Brigadiers, & Generals w/ Cummins & Detroit next to the Autocar DK 64 , B Mode (old dog)l, R Models & DM Model Macks we had through the years . Bad Dog Your on the right track There Brother Volvo (the 5 letter cuss word in my book) Bought White Motor Company in the early 80's Then GM Heavy division round the late 80's look @ the last Brigadiers & Generals they have the blue WhiteGMC Strip across the front of the hood . im surprised they didn't put that damn diagonal line across the grill . Tom on the Pic of the ole cannonball jimmy & that "Brand X" How did we go from the cannonball jimmy to Brand X? IT'S CALLED THAT DAMN V%*V$ INFLUENCE The Influence that reduced my other brand of truck (Autocar) to a low cab over garbage truck Im also a fan of 671 brigadier videos . it reminds me of our ole 74' GMC S/A Lowboy tractor we had for years w/ a 5&2 & bellyblower exhaust .used to know when Don (the driver)& lil jim was close to the job site bring in equipment (if I wasn't behind the lowboy in Service truck) Used to love to hear that 238 in a hard pull . NOTHING LIKE THE SOUND Of a 238 . I Still find it hard to believe my granddad traded that ole truck for a new Kawasaki BIG BEAR 4WD 4 Wheeler . I didn't talk to him much for a month (& remember we lived under the same roof) Makes me want to go to the backwoods of W. Memphis, AR & see if LIL Jim is still there or not . id love to have that ole truck back & slam a dump bed on it . 1 of the 1st trucks (next to old dog) I learned to drive I still like to hear an ole 238 Detroit "LOPE" On a cold winter morning till its warmed up . Jt good luck on the General bro . It looks like a nice project . yall have a safe one
