  1. Around here in the Millington Area (NW Shelby Co) we are 4 miles South from the Tipton Co. line there are 2 funeral homes here in NW Shelby & South Tipton Co. 1 of the 2 funeral homes has 2 locations 10 miles apart. & it is 2 out of 3 brothers in a family who i grew up around & are like family to me , that still live here in the Millington area that deal w/ death every day around the Millington & Tipton County area . The Youngest Brother is the UnderTaker for the local funeral home that has 2 locations . the older brother is the Grave Digger. Grave digger used to put in septic lines w/ my family years ago & dig footings & do all kind of backhoe work. along w/ digging graves . The Grave digging got to profittable for him & keeps him busy so much that he had septic tank license for as long as i could remember (& im 36) he let those go bout 10 yrs back. traded his Case & New Holland backhoes in for a New Holland Mini Excavator (not sure of the size but its a bigger one w/ cab,A/C & Radio ,Back fill blade & Rubber Tracks) & pulls it w/ a F550 Ford 6.7 Powerstroke. he has all but 1 cemetery in the area. not too bad the only reason why he doesnt have the 1 grave yard is because that is the other funeral home here in the area . he had it too for a long time till they bought a 310 John Deere backhoea few yera ago. My Saying for the 2 brothers is if you live in the Millington or South Tipton Co area Chances are Good The Pike Brothers got ya in the end . I Told my friends & family When i pass yall make sure i have Gold half dogs on the side of the coffin & a Gold Dog On the top of the coffin & Mack hood scrips on the side . My boss laughed & asked me where did you get this idea .? i said you anit never seen the movie Convoy have ya ? he said nope. i handed him the dvd told him what scence it was & told him to study it lol.. he trold me the next day @ work that was a trip to see how they tricked the coffin out & said that would be somthing i would do . As for R.T Loaders . my 1st R.T Loaders was a 530 I.H. & 950B Cat. hardly any brakes on either 1. MyPop's ole partner in crime that he sub contracted for ALOT Had a 45C Michigan w/ a 453 Detroit . used to like operating it just because of the Screamin Jimmy motor . Though it didnt hardly have a lick of brakes on it half the time either although they tried to keep brakes on it .
  2. Logger Plates in Mo. sound alot like Joint (Farm )Tags here in Tn. You can only haul a certain type of product in yalls case like you said Forest Products. It amazes me now that "old dog" (my namesake & dads ole B422T S/A Tractor) Had joint tags on him & "old dog" was between our farm operation & Excavating Co. & Hauling equipment to a dirt job 1 day & Seed , Fertilizer & any kind of Ag Product for the farm the next day . guess it helped pop was friends w/ the DOT Man all those years . (i still am myself)
  3. Amen Brother !! I Could Teach Bear the Chimp to Drive a Bulldog . After being in a Bulldog Bear the chimp would take a leak on that Pogo Stick K Whopper. Olive i used to run out of the Gravel pit round Dyersburg,Tn (cant think of the name of the pit @ the time ) some if things were Extremley slow here. & than ran to the Bootheel of Mo. up there & it reminded me of going to Ms & Ar . here. I Took my 85' GMC Brigaider Tri Axle dump up there when i leased on to the pit for a short time . i quickly learned Mo was the same as Ms & Ar on the 3rd axle. after that i took the tandem dumps up there . i wasnt wearing out an extra set of tires just for 15 tons of material.
  4. We had Red dump beds for the most part . also had a few black dump beds as well. Buddy of mine has Black, Red, White, & Green beds on his IH & KW's Does the Deere come w/ an optional redhead in place of the brunette ?? lol
  5. 15 tons on a DM ?? Really ?? Just like Ar & Ms round here. You seen those pics of randys bulldogs loaded to max w/dirt ? if we was running BACKROADS NOT HIGHWAY My Granddad (or pop as i called him) would have me or another operator load our Bulldog's, Acar & Jimmy the same way but tarped . that got to be known as a trademark. for us . my old man always had 4 or 5 dirt pits lined up cause he sold so much dirt in the backwoods of Millington. almost garuntee there was close to 30 tons on the truck . If we was running the Highway or bigroad it was under the sideboards & legal . Tn we can haul 10 tons of material on a s/a dump legally Tandem dump 20 tons legally Tri axle dump is up to 24.5 tons leagaly. depends on the light weight of the truck on all 3 limits. Now if we cross into Ar or Ms the weight laws are 15tons on a tandem or triaxle . & neither of them reconize the cheater axle for weight limits but if you have it & you dont have it down when loaded crossing the scales or Diesel Bear stops ya the Fine is outrageous!!! when myself & my family had our trucks that were in our small excavating co. we would go to ar or ms when we had a job that way but the tandems would go in the pits in those states & the triaxles stayed here in Tn hauling for other buddies in the same line of work . Round here in the Memphis area alot of guys that have Tri axles that live in E. Ar or N.Ms lease on to the pits here in Tn so they can make more money due to the weight laws here & i dont blame them . Same way here We got a rock pit where the material (all except the river sand) comes in on barges . this pit is in Memphis behind the old IH Plant & bumps up against the Ms river . When your loaded & ya you are coming out the pit you better have some good momentioum (sp?)cause its real nice steep grade & if ya anit got the speed ya may not make it. BTW It's a SWEET SOUNDING 988B Cat loader that they bought new when i was 5 or 6 yrs old. Always Loved hearing that 3408 Cat Working. Still do that ole loader still going strong looks like new & still running everyday. same operator since new.
  6. To BMT !! It's a sure bet that your in the right place for the Fever. We all have a blast w/one another it's a trip around here. hardly ever a dull moment . & Some how the subject of threds get turned around to Women . (OtherDog is a good example of how fast a thred can get turned around here. ) My opinon trucks & women have 1 thing in common: both cost money & your gonna keep spending money on both or both will put ya down high & dry If ya dont spend any money on them . No Wonder why the subject threds get twisted around to women around here Oh btw my name is & was named after the greatest name in trucks (aka bulldog man on BMT) Hope ya have a blast while your here w/ us.
  7. myself personaly would take the crane & flatbed off if frame needed to be shortend , shorten the frame just enough for a 15' to 16' dump bed w/ air tailgate & elec tarp . & have me nice Tandem Dump that could legally haul 20 tons of material. Def a money maker like Bob said .
  8. Amen to that GG !! An OVERSIZED Demo Derby !!
  9. Exactly my point GG. I Feel more productive on a tractor/pan set up. plus 9 out of 10 time no push dozer is needed . & a tractor & pan is easier to manuver (sp?) on smaller jobs . Glad to see great excavting minds think alike Randy . Amen Brother Randy !! Anit that the truth !!later yall
  10. Yw Tom thought it may come in handy round here . Ya I've done my time on both ends of the Scraper/Push Dozer situation . For me i rather be pushing but i perfer a Push Cat w/ A Cushion Blade if i a gotta push scrapers all day long . (but that dont always happen) Ya I agree w/ ya there Olive. it's alot like operating a self propelled roller or a tractor & sheepsfoot roller :ROUND & ROUND OR BACK & FORTH All day long . & insted of looking @ dogs ass your looking @ a Cat's ass all day . later yall
  11. LMAO Just another reason why im single .. I Anit gonna get trapped that easy .
  12. Terry The West Coast dog in Tn is Right up the road from me bout 30 mins In the next county North of me. & IT SHOULD MAKE YOU NERVOUS cause of the dealer that has it it. You Gotta watch the Baskin's. They will hook ya & crook ya so quick it make your head spin. I Call em greet em ,cheat em , & ream em truck sales. i could had went all day w/o seeing any of thier JUNK !! I Have pass by thier place all the time . My family has delt w/ them for years (when we had no other choice. ) when it comes to parts : they will tell you : Yeah we got it !!! then when ya get up there your WAITING ALL DAMN DAY & they may or may not have it When i could had went to Tri State Mack in Memphis & got it the next couple of days by the latest !! (my granddad's idea to go there to get a truck back running the same day. & i used to cringe @ the idea of dealing w/ the Baskins. & still do) & dont ask for your money back on parts . they will offer another part like the same but other than that they will send ya back out the door & back out on Highway 51!!! I Stay away from em as much as possible !! I'VE HAD Too Many damn headaches from dealing w/ them. It's giving me a headache just thinking & talking about them . Just my 2 cents & laying the cards on the table .
  13. Amen Brother Rob !! Took the words out of my mouth .
  14. Exactly what i was thinking was White or Autocar. The fenders gave it away w/ me.
  15. LMAO on the Power Steering Mark !! You sound like some of my Dad's buddies. lol. We had a few DK & DC Model A cars w/ Hummin Cummin Motors in em . both small cam & Big Cam NTC Cummins. I Liked both but ive always favored the DK Fenders for some reason . Guess i like the ole rough look , Deffinately Wouldnt want to run OTR W/ this ole beast but take the shack off the back & run in & out of sand, gravel & dirt pits & haul equipment w/ a lowboy all day now your talking my langauge. But oh the Backaches @ the end of the day . esp if it has Walking beams, or the ole Rubber Block Walking beam Suspension. loaded not too bad BUT RUNNING EMPTY!!! Oh my Lord !! make ya want some Doans pills or BC OR Goody's headache powders maybe somthing a little stronger than that .
  16. Some good looking Bulldog's there . Thanks for sharing .
  17. Thats the way our buddy was . He would tell pop ahead of time (say like when they were Coon hunting or drinking coffee @ the local store) when the HEAD "BEAR" was coming out of Nashville & if we had any minor things wrong to get em fixed before that day that Head "Bear" was to be here in the Memphis aera or run the back roads . (which we did & i still do quite frequently) He would come by the house & go to shop just to see if we had even the knit pick shit fixed that he knew that the guy from Nashville would get us for. Esp if we had to get out on the Highway. & couldnt avoid the Highways & Big Road .
  18. Olive: Your Buddy Laid The Cards on the table (as my boss would say) Gotta Admire A person for somthing like that. Hell If i go in the store to pay my cell phone bill there is a $3 charge for paying in the store & if i use my ATM/Debit Card to pay the bill in the store thats another $2 . BUT i can pay it online & it doesnt cost me any extra. AH The joy of actually going in a store & having to deal w/ a human . But you can pay your phone bil online & not get any extra charges SHEESH !!!
  19. Amen Brother !! & no need to appoligize Mack Man Bulldog Man it's all good Bro. Trey i knew what ya ment . . to quote 1 of late great uncles .
