  1. Thats Exactly what my dad & pop did when we was in business they had 3 other buddies in the same line of work bout the same size we were . if the job called fer more equipment pop & dad would usually get 1 of their other buddies to bid on the job w/ them & everybody made money & dad & pop didn't have to go say rent or buy more equipment to do the job &` then have the worries of keeping enough work to keep the extra equipment busy . We were a Sub Contractor for alot of the big guys in Memphis so we had the connections & we were always helping others who were about the same size we were, but maybe didn't have a piece or 2 of equipment that they had but we did. & it was vice versa . OH BTW POP & DAD Always said being behind in the excavating/ Site prep business was a good thing seemed like we always had more work than we could handle . Man i miss working for my family/ myself things anit the same since pop passed almost 7yrs ago. almost 7yrs later & IM STILL WORKING FER THE MAN . just my 2 cents . later
  2. I have to agree with Bull: I Have a feeling that The euros are trying to put my Namesake in the ground . i keep saying look @ Mack Titan then look @ V@#V* VHD LOOK ABOUT THE SAME TO ME WHICH IS . Autocar was twice 3 times the truck the euros could ever build. next to a Mack & an occasional Jimmy w/ a Detroit thats all we ran was White/Autocar . in my own opinion Autocar (esp a DK Model) was the only truck that could hold a candle to Mack. Esp in the Dirt , Mud & Soft Ground . I Could take an PRE DATE WMC (White motor Corp) DK ACar Dump & out walk a V@^V* IN THE Field Now they sold Autocar to a company that all they can build is a poor Garbage truck w/ the old White Xpeditor Cab. Wish they could build a Conventional Vocational tractor & Straight truck again Id love to see AutoCar put V@&V* IN THE GRAVE LIKE THEY ALMOST DONE MY BELOVED AutoCar. & God have mercy if the Sweds ever try to put in the grave . , & IF THAT ANIT ENOUGH THEY BOUGHT Ackerman, Champion, Michigan in the construction Industry did i miss any more that they bought out yall ? just talking about V@#V& Drives my blood pressure up ill get off my soapbox now . later yall
  3. Looks too good to go to the scrapyard to dare i say be reincarnated as a V@$V*. Hope if the owner does decide to sell its not to the scrapyard . looks like a good project truck & i agree w/ Rob IM Partial to a California Always liked the looks of the RS & RL Series. & JUST LIKE A 2 stroke Detroit seems the the California Bulldogs are a dying breed ya dont see as many as ya used to. later yall

  6. I almost bought a 79' RL700 W/ a E9 V8 Mack & 12spd 14k f/a & 44k w/ camelback & double frame 2 LINE Wetkit, 187" wb frame for a lowboy/ dump trailer i had back bout 12 yrs ago(& up to 6 yrs ago when pop passed) , BUT My granddad JUST HAD TO HAVE THE 81 GMC BRIGADIER W/ 318 Detroit, 9513 tranny , double frame, 14k f/a 44k rockwell rears & knuckle boom crane & 187" wb frame SO. Because he stayed on my ass bout buying the Jimmy i bought it. (told a buddy bout the dog cause i knew he was looking fer 1 fer his farm & grading operations HE BOUGHT IT .) he said ya saving money son i said ya but ya get what ya pay fer & besides i love the look of a California Bulldog , they look better than the regular R models we have. he said w/ what money we saving is going to a new D41P Komatsu . in a way i still liked the TD7G Dresser we had but we had to have a tax wire off that year, so thats the reason why i didnt get the California Dog. I'm still looking fer 1 though . Wish i wold had bought the a buddy of mine bought it & still runs it on his farm & grading operations . & the ole E9 Sounds good w/ the chrome straight pipes on him pulling that 790 Deere Trackhoe & 850 Deere dozer & HAULING COTTON SEED , Wheat & Soybeans to the mills . told my buddy if he ever sold it i want 1st shot @ it . he said no problem . so if he ever sells it i got 1st shot @ that beautiful Candy Apple red California dog & i remind him quite often so he doesnt forget . lol later yall

  18. I Too thought it was a B71 By the way the sheet metal looked . & a 318 w/ 8 " stright pipes. I Tried that w/ my 81 GMC Brigadier lowboy i had some years back w/ 6" strights (not as tall as the ones on the B71)& DOT Gave me a $500 ticket for "NOISE POLLUTION" . But i thought it sounded good myself pulling our equipment . I went back to a regisnator type muffler . hey THE DOT Could'nt say i had a muffler on the Lowboy tractor. Later yall

  24. ROFLMAO I Feel that way w/ my current ride Ed. "Jimmy" (My 1994 GMC 2500 P/U) Nickels & Dimes me to death. Makes me miss my 01' F150 Ford that got totaled out a couple yearsago in an accident that was'nt my fault. If i dont trade it in on a 4wd Toyota or Nissan I'll keep it as a scrap iron & trash hauler & eventually drop me a 6b Cummins or a 453T Detroit in it. & Rob being CHEAP ? I thought that was being THIRFTY Cause i got the same problem . I DRIVE WHAT I OWN TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF . Maybe thats why i have only owned 6 PERSONAL trucks since i was 15 & im 35 now . (this is pretty good cause i cant keep up w/ how many my brother & a buddy has had since they were 15 ) Later yall
  25. Actually i was either in Memphis or in the Ms Delta making Deliviries. but Millington is Home & LUCY Is really home & my stompping grounds . Ya Rob all but just a handfull of the Northside of the base is owned by the City of Millington now the base still has control of the golf course & few other things on the Northside of the Bae but like the old Navy BRIG For instance is the MPD,JAIL & Millington Courthouse. The Naval hospital is now owned by the University of Memphis & they hold classes there now. But trust me ya still gotta have a sticker , construction or other pass to get on the South Side. & ALL TRUCK TRAFFIC GOES THROUGH THE SOUTH GATE OFF SINGLINGTON PARKWAY & GOES THROUGH INSPECTION . We were sub contractors for the bigger demolition companies out of Memphis when a lot of the Resructering of the base happened a few years back . The navy's gas station on Navy road is a memory & so is the bowling alley &stem plant just to mention a few . Later Mack
