Soaring Fuel Prices Take A Withering Toll On Truckers
bulldog man replied to Mack 3P's topic in Odds and Ends
Sad indeed Cost of Fuel (besides my accident back in march ) is the MAJOR reson why i didnt buy the 86 R688ST daycab Tractor or the 91' R690S That i looking to buy & go back on my own after my familys business being sold 3 yrs ago due to my granddad's death in 2005 . Ive got the Work lined up for a tractor pulling a dumpwagon, lowboy , grain trainers & containers but WHY Should i pay cash for a truck & Fuel going up every day & the rates stay the same & possibly have the sitting in the yard cause i couldnt afford to say put brakes on due to i had to buy fuel that was $4.45 (today's cost 5/28/08) or any other repairs for that matter i dont want to do back in the business & couldnt make ends meet due to the cost of fuel & the rates NOT GO UP W/ THE COST OF FUEL . I say we go to burning cooking grease in the trucks . Herd the other day a local dumpwagon operation based bout 45 miles north of me was caught w/ 7 trucks running bio diesel & the fine was $100.00 for every gallon in the tanks & each W900 KW had bout 200 gallon or better saddle tanks i asked why TDOT Would bust them for running bio diesel what i was told was there was no Sulfer in Bio diesel anybody herd of this problem else where ? BIG BROTHER & THE OIL COMPANIES ARE GETTING RIDICULOUS TO WHERE A SMALL Trucking , farming or constuction co. can make a decent living this a bunch of that has to come to halt I always herd what goes up must come down but the cost of fuel i dont belive it will come back down anytime soon the rates danm sure anit changed Sorry for the rant yall BUT : FELLOW AMERICANS ASSUME THE POSTION just my 2 cents yall -

Jevic Transportation Ceases Operations Effective 5-19-2008
bulldog man replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
Wow Jevic went out another victim in the rising cost of fuel & this poor economic times Makes ya wonder who next dont it ? This raising prices of fuels has to STOP But where ? It's not only tough on the everyday consumer but imagine how The Farmers , owner Ops , & the Small companys in Construction feels Lord all we are doing is making other nations rich while the Cost of everything goes UP Due to The U.S.A. Depending on Forigen (spell?) oil Lord We need to come up w/ something & quick or IM afraid we may be starving like a 3rd world country afterwhile cause if Rates dont go up w/ the cost of Fuel Alot of folks wont have much of a choice but to park not only Trucks but Equipment as well The Farmers & Owner Ops havbe a hard enough time in this Country let alone Adding more Fuel to the fire as to raising the damn cost of fuel everyday if the Farmers & Truck drivers quit in this country WE Will ALL BE SCREWED . Cause w/o Farmers & truck drivers theres no clothes on your back or food on your table . sorry bout ranting yall but i had 2 vent Just my 2 cents yall -

bulldog man replied to Barry's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Amen If VOLVO was was Johnson Grass on 1 of the Soybean fields we farmed back 20 yrs ago they would had been killed off w/ Round UP Maybe then Autocar & White Motor Company would still be strong as an Ox as well as Champion (graders) & Clark Michigan & Akerman too just to name a few w/o the the diease of Volvo hitting them like the black plage . I miss the sound of an 35 ,45 ,55 & 175 Michigan loader w/ a Detroit or Cummins in it loading trucks later yall -
