When did they stop teaching people how to drive?
bulldog man replied to vision386's topic in Odds and Ends
Ya that happened to me yesterday when I was coming home from the shop just south of town . Farmer I thought you knew . they give DL's out As a prize in Boxes of Cracker Jack now . I was coming home from the shop yesterday After making a run to Memphis I was going home (bout 6 or 7 miles south of Millington ) I was Northbound on HWY 51 I was just North of Paul Barret Parkway (TN 385) & South of Babe Howard Blvd & 51 " in the speed trap" section of 51 . the speed limit is 45 mph I was doing 45 to 50 mph & I DONT SPEED OVER 5MPH The limit Through that section MPD Bears are bad through that stretch of 51. There is a Dodge 4500 or 5500 Cummins Flatbed w/ a goose neck flatbed in the hammer lane just a few feet ahead of me. I look out my drivers side mirror & there is a Silver rice burner on my ass @ this point im crossing the bridge over Big Creek approaching Babe Howard Blvd . There is a light @ Babe Howard & 51 & There are Red light cameras on the lights here in Millington . THE LIGHT WAS TURNING FROM GREEN TO YELLOW , I was @ the point where I could either go through the light or STOP. To avoid having a ticket mailed to me I STOPPED He almost rear-ends me (I herd tires screeching downshift hard & hornest nest muffler from behind me ) the Dodge is beside me so the tailgater couldn't use that lane . The light tuned green & I slowly get up to speed & after you go through that light the North bound side of 51 becomes 3 laned for about 3 lights then goes back to 2 lanes after that. I got in the far right hand granny lane so he could get by me he gets in the center lane rolls his window down (by this time im @ the light @ 51 & Navy ) minding my own damn business He yells I want to whoop your ass cause you didn't run the light & I almost rear-ended you . I told him id pull over in Kroger parking lot by the gas station @ the light @ 51 &Shelby/Easley & I was a disabled man due to my Cerebral palsy & if he could get past my .38 S&W That I have a permit for he can gladly whoop my ass . he kept on rambling Calling ME THE 1 Who almost caused a wreck back there til the light turned green & I just looked & smiled never showing the pistol . the light turned green & he peeled out leaving black marks & last I seen him (from a distance ) he was tailgating that Dodge Cummins 1 TON . This WET BEHIND EAR KID Couldn't had been over 21 . Must had had a bad day & looking for someone to take it out on . IM NOT THE ONE !! NEWS FLASH ASSHOLE YOU WERE BEHIND ME TAILGATING ME !!! I HAD TO STOP FOR THE LIGHT WHEN YOU ALMOST CRASHED INTO MY 94' GMC 2500 P/U (Aka 'Jimmy" ) IT WOULD HAD BEEN YOUR FAULT IF YOU TOTALED OUT THAT RICE BURNER OF YOURS NOT MINE !!! I swear so people never learn !!! -
yup that law has been effect here in Tn for a number of years now . I know 2 Excavating companies in Memphis that fined out the ass for having a Dozer blade or loader bucket facing the front .

As my grandfather & his drivers especially his lowboy driver always said "you never have enough chains on a piece of equipment ." We used a MINNIMUM OF 4 Chains to a piece of equipment . I have seen my pops lowboy driver have 6 to 8 chains on a TD15 IH Dozer.

GOD ALMIGHTY . My thoughts & prayers to the drivers family & friends . May he R.I.P. & Keep on doing the deal behind the wheel Golden Road Style !!

Was in the Gym 3 hours today . Went to my buddy's place (he has a shop in the back yard) & has the lawn care business & Did a Tune up & sharpened blades on a 345 Deere Mower today , replaced the front right tire on the same mower (the 1 that was on it before my buddy slimed it & was almost bald as a baby's butt). Fixed a tail light on the mower trailer. & my buddy welded some new weed eater racks on . Another Slow day but @ least I got a few hours in .

Well Since there were no runs for work today, no dozer to operate & no grass to cut for my other buddy (that's like a brother). I Stayed in the GYM & Got a 5 hour workout in today to keep from being bored around the house today . Then my buddy (that cuts grass ) took his other half to the dr today . He called & asked if could pick up his daughter from school I picked up their 4 yr old daughter from head start & spent some time w/ my little buddy & even she noticed she said "Uncle Mack momma & daddy are right your are going to blow away if you don't quit loosing weight . " (im now 180 lbs & a 32 waist coming from 330lbs & a 48 June 2010, waist wanting to be 165lbs to 170 lbs) talk about blowing my mind . I assured her a good stiff wind was not going to blow me away . by the time I got her to g'mas house she told her g'ma " Grandma give Uncle Mack a sammich he needs to gain some weight .. " I couldn't do or say anything but & smh . I Gave her a hug & told her I loved her , got in my ole Truck & came home & cleaned house . A slow day today work wise but its getting that time of year again . & I enjoy my time in the gym plus spending time w/ my buddies lil girl aka my "niece "

WELL Im pretty good @ myself BUT 1 of my cousins is So good @ clipping & saving . She clipped coupons & saved her way to Disney World Twice already in the last 3 yrs . & my aunt & uncle used to go every year or every other year since she & her brother were kids . & Her & her husband are talking about going again & they don't have Yard Apes err I mean kids yet . Congrats Randy !!! . & as far as FB Goes : im like Sgt. Schultz : " I KNOW NUZZIN I KNOW NUZZIN !!!" I didn't hear ,see, or Speak no evil . -
I Remember when I was growing up in the 80's there was a lot of L 8000 & L9000 Ford Tandem & Tri Axle Ford Dump buckets running in & out of the dirt, sand & rock pits down in Memphis . Most of them had a 3208 N/A Or a 3208T W/ 613 Road ranger behind them . You could always tell a Louisville Style Ford w/ a "Throw away Cat" as my pop & great uncle called them espically if the driver had the clutch engaged . I always like the sound of a 3208 Aked Pop & Uncle Bud why they called them a Throw away Cat motor & they told me when the 3208 1st came out they were a dry sleeve motor & Before they became wet sleeved if the motor went bad or needed overhauled it was cheaper to buy a new 3208 . Anybody else ever herd this ?

Why hide in a cave when you can hide in a shop ? @ least that's what I used to do when I was on the home place & wanted to get away from pops worrisome Girl Friend . & When my girl friend was pissed @ me ...lol That would look good in a shop bathroom . -
