  1. Does "Global" also mean the U.S.A.? I would want one when my current Ranger needs to be replaced. bulldogboy
  2. The "E" model also has spotlights under the windshield; indicative of a fire/rescue vehicle. Whatever it is, it needs to be saved and, hopefully, restored. bulldogboy
  3. The New Boston, NH Air Force Station, 23TH SOPS, is still active as a satellite tracking station. There are three radar domes keeping in communication with satellites orbiting Earth, 24/7/365. During WW II, NBAFS was a practice bombing range for AAF planes out of Grenier Army Air Field in Manchester, NH. After the war's end, the hilltop location was turned into the tracking station. In the following decades it was not uncommon to find unexplored ordinance in the woods, fields, and ponds. NBAFS once had its own fire department but the department was disbanded and the fire station was turned over to the New Boston Fire Department for use as a sub-station. bulldogboy
  4. I think that the "Crackers" truck once belonged to the Coeyman's Hollow, NY Fire Department. Although it no longer shows up on their website, the Marsh Harbour, Bahamas Fire Brigade once ran a tandem axle "B" model still lettered for the Maidstone Fire Department, wherever that was. bulldogboy
  5. Used to be owned by a former fire chief in Lyndeborough, NH. Don't know where the truck is located now. bulldogboy
  6. On Friday, January 30, 2015, a fire swept through the Highway Department garage in Henniker, NH. Five dump trucks/plows and a grader were destroyed, just before another major snowstorm hit the area. A couple of pickups in the yard were spared. Henniker has been able to borrow a few trucks and a grader from the state DOT and nearby towns. Hopkinton, NH Highway Department will also extend plowing services into Henniker. While the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's office, it does not appear suspicious. bulldogboy
  7. Back in the '70s our "CF" model fire trucks were lettered by Bruce's Truck Lettering. Is this the same guy? I believe the guy who did ours was a firefighter from someplace in Massachusetts. He did a great job of lettering and shading. bulldogboy
  8. Litchfield, NH Fire Department still runs this 1992 Mack/KME, 1250/2500, as Tanker 3. bulldogboy
  9. Yes, we had a nice time in St. Maarten a few years ago. St. Maarten also has a 2002 Ford F-750/E-One, 1250/1000 pumper. It was in the mechanics' bay for a little TLC when this photo was taken. bulldogboy
  10. Brandweer Sint Maarten, NA, Ford F/Series/E-One pumper. bulldogboy
  11. Back in the day I used to drive "CF"s, both pumpers and ladder trucks; don't remember the steering wheel being on the "wrong" side!! bulldogboy
  12. Congratulations, grampa. Everything that they say about having grandchildren is true; grandkids are a blast. Now you can get him his own set of wrenches for Christmas and put him to work. Congrats also to Mom and Dad. bulldogboy
  13. Rymes Oil recently purchased all the assets of Fred Fuller Oil Company, one of New Hampshire's largest oil and propane dealers. Fuller has a couple of Mack "CH" tractors but, recently, has been purchasing Freightliner tractors and delivery trucks. Nice to see that Rymes has been purchasing Macks; hope that they continue to do so. Looks like "logtruckman's" fleet is based in Stamford, VT. The Stamford Fire Department used to run two homemade tankers on Mack "U" model chassis. In 2009, they purchased a 1988 Mack "MC" pumper from a department in California. Nice looking unit, white with orange stripes. White probably worked well in California but might get lost in a Vermont snowstorm. bulldogboy
  14. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone on BMT. Hope that Santa brings you all the parts, or complete trucks, that you want. bulldogboy
  15. The "L" models that I drove for my department eons ago had a piece of plywood covering the batteries. Just not as fancy as Albert's. bulldogboy
  16. I don't believe than milk tankers are baffled due to the need to sanitize them. Baffles would interfere with a thorough cleaning. I once drove a small milk tanker on a Chevrolet chassis hauling ice cream mix and it was not baffled. Never ran it full so had to take care when braking; you could feel the liquid sloshing around in the tank. bulldogboy
  17. The Hancock, NH Fire Department proudly showing off their apparatus: a mid 1930s Ford, a 1941 Mack "Type 45", and a 1945 Mack "Type 45". The '45 Mack is still owned by the Hancock department. It was rare to see Mack fire trucks in small New Hampshire fire departments at that time. Macks were used in the larger cities such as Concord and Manchester. Small towns, if they had fire departments at all, used Fords, Chevys, and other commercial chassis for their fire trucks. Credit to the unknown photographer. bulldogboy
  18. Haybag (appropriate NH user name!): Do you know what fire department that "B" model came from? Mack "B" fire trucks were: "B-75", "B-85", "B-95", and "B-125" models. If that is a "B-68" it must have been a commercial chassis converted to a fire truck. bulldogboy
  19. A Freightliner "Condor" making a beer run in Methuen, MA. bulldogboy
  20. A couple of Sterling "Condors" O.O.S. and awaiting their final dispostion in Nashua, NH. bulldogboy
  21. Nashua, NH Public Works Department's Mack "MR" CNG powered front loader rubbish truck. Nashua's newest CNG powered side loaders are mounted on Autocar chassis. bulldogboy
  22. Former Fremont, NH Tanker 5, 1975 Mack tractor, 7600 gallons. A camper,eh? Plenty of room for sleeping; standing up, not so much. bulldogboy
  23. Nice truck but, please, lose the square headlights, definitely not original. During my career, I drove a 1959 Mack "C-85F" ladder truck. It had dual headlights and the '58s did also. If you can, obtain a copy of Harvey Eckart's book, "Mack Model C Fire Trucks, 1957 - 1967 Photo Archive". It shows the different single and dual headlight setups that Mack used. Early FDNY "C"s and a few others had single headlights. Do you know what departments your Mack served? bulldogboy
  24. I don't know much about the Explorer but it appears that police departments like the Explorer "Police Interceptor". Many departments around here, including some who were big Chevrolet users, have switched to the "EPIs". The Taurus "Police interceptor" seems to be popular, also. New Hampshire State Police are big users of Dodge Chargers but I read a recent article that they may be looking at a different vehicle for use in the vast, rural, northern part of the state. The article didn't specify what model they are looking at. bulldogboy
  25. I have an '07 Ranger XLT 4x4. I've heard the same arguments, "an F-150 costs the same, mileage the same", etc. but I don't need a 150, the Ranger is perfect for me. I'll keep mine hoping against hope that Ford brings back the Ranger. I had a 150, it was nice but I don't need a big truck. I saw the new four door Ranger in St Maarten a couple of years ago; that's what I want. Of course, with my luck, as soon as I have to buy something else, Ford will bring back the Ranger the following year. Toyota is thrilled that Ranger is gone, I've seen their TV commercials for Tacoma that show the Ranger and Dodge Dakota vanishing from the scene. Last Sunday's (11/16) "Boston Globe" had an article about the new Canyon/Colorado trucks. It stated that they are more mid-size, not small trucks, more like smaller versions of the Sierra/C1500. bulldogboy
