  1. i would use a clean 5 gallon can of fuel, new filters and some diesel treat like howes, instead of the tank to start with
  2. I always thought all oil came out of the same barrel and just put in different jugs. This is not the first time and probably not the last time that I have been wrong.
  3. During my PTI this morning I saw a miracle. No oil on the frame where the turbo was leaking, no oil on the turbo, no turbo oil leak. When I left the truckstop after idling for 11 hrs it did not smoke like it was on fire. It must be a miracle or getting that f***ing Rotella out of the motor. Maybe Mackpro scared it to death it stopped leaking. Either way my high dollar turbo seems to be okay. I wonder how many turbos have been replaced because of Rotella oil?
  4. F***ing Rotella. As soon as I got that shit out of my motor, turbo oil leak and smoking stopped. It's nothing but bulldog oil for me.
  5. no, but he did send me to a motel where the cleaning lady's booby's were so big she needed coil racks instead of a brazzear.
  6. i felt the same till the old assodomiter turned 40. eyes don't have that instant focos reflex any more, it takes more than just a glance, gota wait a couple seconds for eyes to focos
  7. he did today, only 40,000 miles since egr cooler was replaced,he went ahead and changed coolant and checked screen, like he knew the screen was cloged, and the bottom was starting to tear open. ill post a picture of it when i get home...... layed his hand on the wiper moter and healed it for only $275..........
  8. i think the truck on truck paper and it's sister in la. had all that stuff added, and thay allong with mine are border line gawdy, but mine is the real rawhide, $40,000 option. they made the rawhide option to easy to copy.....
  9. mcbride is the s%^&t it was like stepping back in time, when customer service was actually practiced..... got 2 hats, callender, ink pens, owner asked if i was happy enough to come back. guess i should have told him, if i break down in wa. state ill pay the tow bill to get it back to them, but i didnt want him to think its okay to pork me. seriously, nice people, exellent service............. im just worried one of these day's ill show up and mackpro will be wearing a white robe and sandles.
  10. that is all factory accetp the mirrors on the fenders and i think they should be manditory for every one, under 30 yrs. old and every one over 40
  11. i looked very hard at that truck before i purchased the one i got, the price is rite $115,000 over the phone if virginia truck center had not did all the repairs i wanted to my rawhide, i was leaving va. and going to get this one. traded my vision and #31.000 for mine, the numbers just worked better.....
  12. i posted some pics of that in my ed post, i know the young guy your talking about at western co. mack, i had some truck trouble out there and he was very helpfull, he is the only mack guy you can count on west of the rocky's i keep thinking he is gona show up on here.
  13. im waiting for more info before i put in my 2 cents. right foot can affect mpg more than anything.
  14. does anyone know what happened to the white superliner that was talked about last week?????????
  15. a plastic linner is a heaven sent but they won't hold up to giant peices of concrete or boulders. but for every thing else they are the best thing to ever happen to dump trailers.
  16. as for how they get the guiny pigs, when you dont know about the 04's and you get stuck with one, you instantlly become a guiny pig, like reaching for a life ring when your drowning......
  17. i think jerryb is having some goodluck with his finnaly. best i can figure, any egr motor, needs a certain amount off recent upgrades. as for the 04 if it doesn't you can figure $6,000 to $13,000 in getting it ready to do some serious trucking, i would say if you can get a really nice 04 with around 300,000 miles, cheep enough(around $15,000) to spend that kind of bucks on it, would be a wise investment. given it would be sent strait to the shop for all upgrades befor hauling the first load. just my opinion.............
  18. i thought some one would disspute my turning over remark............
  19. i have to agree with the air ride with a dump valve, for dumping. easier on the back, the truck, and the trailer. i have hooked the chains on a 24ft. quarter frame and spread 2" clean rock with it. the surface would have to be very level and compacted befor i would try it with 1" minus
  20. past experiance, unless you are gona be hauling material only and dumping on a level pad, stay away from alum.
  21. if you don't mind the weight you can't beat a short all steel quarter frame, WITH A TWO WAY GATE........ this is from my experiance, even if you have to drive a couple hundred miles to look at each kind of trailer, AND WATCH IT VERY CLOSE AT WORK, GOING UP AND DOWN AND HOW MUCH WIGGLE IT HAS, it is well worth the effort, so many times i have made what i thought was the rite decision, only to be dead wrong...... tubs or half rounds are cool, but you can't hide much if you get a chance to haule some material just remember you are gona turn over, it's a learning thing, ussually a series of events that happens!!!!!!!!!!!! i drove a twin sister to yours for 3 years, any way i can help give me a shout, and good luck.
  22. in the last 15 years their has been at least one or two major projects every year in the st.louis area. some of them would take over 100 trucks per day, so there was guy's that had small excavating co. or plumbing co. that came out because it was winter work, and tried to work allong side a fleet like yours.back off in a 60ft. deep mudhole take his 3 scoops(around 25 ton) like everyone has to if a guy is smart enough to stay away from that kind of stuff they do okay
  23. i guess im saying be very sure of what you are going to use your truck for. if the job calls for a DM or a CL,GRANITE you better not show up with a conversion.
  24. that is a very nice conversion, an OLDER experianced driver/owner using it on his own jobs, that he has total control of, it will do a very good job. you cannot put a young or inexperianced driver in them, best if owner only drives it. in late november when your tired of watching tv and doing honeydo stuff and the only thing going on is johny warbucks subsurface job in the 1000 acer corn feild thats gona be a 600 home subdevision by summer, so you get in line with 15 dump trucks.if you try to keep up your conversion will go out on a wrecker if your lucky, ive seen many that had to be hauled away, never to be seen again. i have seen smart guy's take their first load back to the quarry and dump it back on the pile. but ussauly pride stops them from doing the smart thing. when the bottom falls out, and they are belly down in the haul road, and they pull the tow hook off the frame, and there is three dump trucks waiting to get out and seven waiting to get in, and a 30 year old forman that has to be accountable for what did or didn't get done that day. well lets just say ive seen some very nice conversions turned into nothing more than scrap iron in minutes. but they do a very nice job hauling asphalt, or material to a plant
