  1. how much stuff do you get out of it after 6 months??? i was thinking change diffs, trans, power steering fluid, coolant and clean screen, every 100,000 miles????????"??
  2. i spent a couple of day's around the copper valley in my cx, i had to drive at nite, to scary in the daytime and then i had the head light problem, i havn't been back since. you guy's are no sh@^t truckers
  3. changing the subject back to the turbo, i never noticed the turbo sound in my cx, in the ch it is realy loud, hear it changing pitch, even drownds out duel exhaust beside doors, below 30 mph. is the cx that much quieter? or is somthing wrong?
  4. truck had complete emmision system replaced 400,000 miles. it has 450,000 now, how often should i clean the screen? should i replace all coolant each time???? can i reuse 50% of old coolant it has pink phillp 66 coolant, i had trouble with this in other motors. is it okay to switch to the green stuff????
  5. we could call it an egr filter. its time for me to go to bed, as you can tell i've been up far to long. ramblings of a madman if i could restrict the egr 25%, could it lower egr cooler temps 50% and still scate through a california dot insp. ?? would it over heat the egr vaulve, turbo, or other coponets??????? i could buy a fleet of low milage 04,05, for penny's on the dollar and make reliable trucks out of them
  6. theoretcally speaking if i could cut the egr cooler's temp by just 50% it should more than double the life of the egr system?
  7. what percentage of restriction would be compatible with rest of the systems ( for them to operate efficiently) and still reduce egr cooler heat? this would be a mackpro68 question. and other opinions appreciated. 25% restricted 50% restricted 75% restricted ???????????????????????????????????
  8. we could call it, the egr screen??????????????? i am feeling like a genius, this dont happen very often, and when it does i always get shot down. let me hear what you think!!
  9. my bones are definitely missing the vision, but my wallet is not no mistaking the chn for a luxury car, it's a truck
  10. heard turbo went out. never heard anything more. what do you think about a partial egr block? the plate with some 1/4" holes driled in it? was the plate the premature turbo problem?????????
  11. i should have known, as soon as i got rid of mine, you would figure it out. guess it would have saved us both some money, if i had got rid of mine sooner
  12. i knew i was bragging to much, wednesday the air line going to the driver seat rubbed a hole in it clamped it off, had to ride 30 miles on a flat seat to get a fitting. had to find some thing to complain about.
  13. im glad to hear its working, you definitely earned it, after 10 hrs. i miss my vision just a little,
  14. im afraid to brag, but trucking has been fun for me lately.
  15. 5500 miles thats a record, i think i may have been driving mine to easy for a 460 that may have added to my problems, but when your scared its gonna break down every inch of the way its hard to drive it hard.
  16. hello double l havnt seen you around for a while, all kind of rumors about your dissaperance.
  17. wish you the best of luck. a mack truck is like a woman, nothing better than a good one, nothing worse than a bad one.
  18. if i were a copany driver it couldn't get any better than a cx. but as a o/o i have to earn money, and the cx cost per mile comes strait out of my pocket.
  19. that is a good thing. when you find a low millage truck these day's it pays to find out why.
  20. i have had 2 other trucks do the lightning bolt thing like that, right at the begining of a hard pull, i just thought it took a few seconds for every thing to ajust to the pulling
  21. Ok back to the topic of Macks, I found out why this truck has low mileage. It was used to pull a bottom dump and worked locally. The fleet was downsized and so it was sold. The dealer that sold it sat on it or some time before it was sold. So that is why it only has 163K on it. What do you guys think about something like this? maybe the 04,05 reputation kept it from selling? fjh and mackpro68 know what they are talking about, they work on hundreds of these trucks every year. alot of the rest of us deal with just a small fraction of that, but still like to voice our opionions, mixed in with some trucker bs.
  22. it did it one time. but it will sure get your attention!
  23. i always liked the way a mack pulls at 1200 rpm's. but in my cx, it seemed like my coolant push was worse at that rpm,so now i never pull mine bellow 1300 rpm. and at 1650 to 1700 mine pulls like its pissed off, so if im pulling a big hill i twist her up and listen to the turbo, and not a drop of coolant loss.
  24. I would have thought the rawhide would have ridden better than a vision due to being a set forward axle me to, but it dont, same cab i have to check the air ride on the cab seems like little or no give. im not complaning, the vision is unmatched in comfort and quiet, it can only be compared to a luxury car, no joke.
  25. mine has a vip trip log that shows over the last 50,000 miles it's average is 5.56 mpg that is being drove like you stole it, grossing 80,000 to 90,000 gvw.in the va. mountains. in the last 5,000 miles i have brought the average up to 5.58 mpg. i need to figure how to reset the vip so i can keep a better eye on it.
