  1. that is the exact same story i got when i bought my cx. local truck with a condo? my past experiance, if i couln't talk to previos owner, i wouldn't even think about it.
  2. i have really been babying my ch after the cx nightmare, but was running behind on sleep and delivery time. loaded, unloaded, and drove over 1,000 miles, oklahoma city and back hyway 44 lots a hills, in less than 18 hours, havnt trucked like that in years, believe it or not it gets better mpg at 70 mph, than 60 mph. i would have been scared to even attept that in my cx, not to mention mpg would drop to nothing. i guess the ch is more suitable to days of thunder, but i did have to get a gell seat cushion about half way through. maybe my butt didnt get tired in the cx because of constant checking and adding coolant. its a good i have a windshield because my teeth would be covered in bugs from smiling so much.
  3. The big red P dashlight that comes on when you set the parking brake. Today I was drving down the road 70 mph and the big red P flashed. When I release parking brake on the tractor if I don't push the valve hard and straight it leaks air inside the dash. I can reset parking brake and push in hard and straight and release and it will be fine. Could this have anything to do with the big red P flash while driving down the road? Or is the flash just a hiccup?
  4. I had an 18 speed in the 2001 CL713 and loved it. What I heard that the shift knob was the only difference. I would really like to have and 18 speed in my CH.
  5. The cab and sleeper are indentical to the vision. The hood and radiator are the only difference. It would appear that the larger radiator opening and the extra room between the hood and the engine on the ch lets more heat escape where the visions hood holds heat in the engine.
  6. This is a MACK 13 speed. The low hole is fine. The top hole is fine. Just need to split the reverse gear. Reverse gear is embarassingly slow if someone is waiting on you to get out of their way.
  7. aaaaa the good ol days, when 20 hrs was a good day, and had no idea why the old timers limped when they got out of a truck.
  8. thanks for that info. i dont feel the cab move when entring or walking around in berth. i will try to post some pics of what i got going on, but gota head out 4:30 am. another load of crain mats going to kansas. dont know what they are doing with them, they are taking hundreds of them???????
  9. That trans does have a .71 overdrive in 18th gear like most Mack trans so it would be OK. Maybe alittle more trans than you need for on-road use. However most Mack 13 and 18 speeds Macks are exactly the same trans except for the shift knob which lets you split the low side. The T318LR is only different from the T318 by having a lower gear in 1 and 2, the rest of the ratios are the same i copied and pasted this from an earlier post from mackpro68 i have a 13 speed mack trans all i have to do to make it an 18 speed is change shift knobs?????? the reason im asking is reverse is so slow its embarrasing if some one is waiting on me, but i do like the option of the super low reverse, i would like to split it some times or could i just dissasemble 13 speed shift knob and alter it to allow split in low side????????
  10. maybe rowdy and double l ran off to san fran sisco and got married??????????????????
  11. the cab sets level, it has air lines to the bags, couldnt find leveling valve, it feels like bags have 120 pounds of air, it's not that bad, i just got out of a vision and we know how cushy they are, like a new cadilac, drink cofee from an open cup. i was thinking i got an old friend who is about to retire from a chemical plant and he could snag me some space age flex, and i could have my cake and eat it to, a rawhide that rides like a vision. if all i have to do is add a leveling valve??????? how hot does the exhaust get from the muffler to the stack, in the summer pulling a mountain??????
  12. it never dawned on me, the rawhide has the pipes mounted to the cab, it appers to have air lines to the air bags under the berth, but it doesnt seem to have any give in them. im assuming it is because of the exhaust, i have seen braided stainless 5" steam pipes in chemical plants, if i could get my hands on a couple of those, could i put air ride on my rawhide?
  13. if you go from a 460 to a 400 i think your dependability triples would you guy's agree?
  14. i am 6'4" between 300 and 350# depending on the time of year, the vision is the most comfortable truck i ever sat in quiet, smooth and roomy, like nothing else, but the chn is a much better truck. i gave up a little comfort, and a little mpg, for a hole lot of dependability i think every body on here will agree the ch is a more reliable truck than the cx.
  15. i was looking for an owners manual for my 04 cx, f and c in st.louis,mo. has a pile of older stuff like what your looking for their phone no. 800-516-9179 good luck
  16. i had this same delema about a month ago. from all the research i did 06 and 07 were the only choices i had. i noticed on truck paper what make and model had the most units for sale, if a particular make, model, has a large number of units for sale at or near end of warrenty, is usually a sign of trouble, so much info to get my head around,it became very frustrating. good luck.
  17. it was just a brain fart. if you could change turbo and get rid of egr sounded easier than an engine swap?
  18. could the bend in the steering shaft cause problems?????
  19. nope onthe same results? nope on the change heads? nope charlie your a posting whore stay out of things you don't know about???
  20. if you were to bolt on 2002 manifold and turbo and use your test kit??? would that be alot easier, with the same results? would you have to change heads?
  21. this is just my opinion, if you find a mack with less than 800,000 miles on it, find out if it is a repo, or has been wrecked, nobody gets rid of a good low millage mack. i found one that a tree had fallen on it had been abused and had 445,000 miles on it, spoke with prev. owner didnt have time to wait for it to be fixed, so he traded the wrecked in on a new truck. if it was wrecked or repoed i would jump on it, if not i would say it was a thorn in someones side, i bought an 04 vision 310,000 miles, it was a twin to jerryb's. i couldn't make a trip without it costing thousand $ took mine from mo. to va. to get rid of it, this one looks like the same deal. nobody gets rid of a trouble free mack with low miles, beware again this is just my opinion.
  22. if mackpro completes his test kit wont that turn an egr aset engine into a etech
  23. mite be easyer to fix the roll over
