  1. im scared to brag, don't want to jinx myself, i made a trip out to kansas and back had to tighten up a couple loose clamps is all, but i came back through a snow storm. i like the short legs, but havent fueled yet, i mite not like them so well after i fuel.
  2. i wish i would have measured my vision before i got rid of it but the ch radiator looks biger, the grill opening is 37 1/2 wide by 27 1/4 tall.
  3. SOUNDS LIKE A CHALLENGE. do you think the vision has enough radiator for it?

  5. the steering shaft has a slight bend in it every time i was looking it had clearance, i was going to replace ujoint in shaft when i found it.
  6. i have to say the cxn is the quietest,best riding, best driving, most compfortable, best fuel milage, of any truck i ever drove.
  7. whenever i would say to hell with the fuel millage and drove it like i stole it, it never gave me any trouble, but the mpg would drop to 2.9 mpg so that never lasted very long.
  8. every time i tried squeezing a little extra fuel milage running 12 to 1300 rpm's is when i would have trouble, mabe the 427 will be different.

  10. i got the old they won't let me do that bs till i was tiered of hearing it, at va truck sales. they had the truck i wanted, and they are hard to find, so i got what i could get, and left with empty fuel tanks, and the promise that they would send me the parts i asked for. so far i got the tank straps. no exhaust brackets or centeramatics. we'll see what hapens
  11. famous words of forest gump, im not a smart man but i know that some things can't be fixed no matter how many weeks you throw $1000 to $12,000 at it.

  13. i feel turning less than 1300 rpm's shortens egr cooler life and adds to coolant push problems i just got rid of 04 had 373 gears got exellent millage over 6mpg at 60 mph, it was very sensitive to mph over 70 mph would drop it under 4mpg, mine was a 460. im glad to see you got a 427 much better motor
  14. let you in on a little secret, that you are very aware of,not to mention the payments are less than the repairs, just the piece of mind being rid of the 04 is worth the payment by itself. i just hauled my first trip with no repair bills, the chn mite not be as comfortable as the cxn but it's darn close
  15. it is trans fluid in resavoir, very clean and over full, i think it is so clean, because leak purged the system, my fear was it had been run low on p.s. fluid alot from the amount of oil on chassi when i first saw truck, at the first sign of trouble i assumed the worst.
  16. wowee, so used to every little hicup being major bucks with the 04, i was afraid it was going to be a steering box, clutch cable clamp slid down radiator support and was binding against steering shaft, the leak was a loose clamp. actually made a trip without spending anything on repairs!!!! yipeee!!!!!!
  17. after further investigation it does it only when i turn left, and not every time. some times smooth as silk next time like the belt has come off.
  18. thanks ill just keep my rpm's above 1300, and wait till you get it figured out. maybe needs a 2002 turbo with the egr block/ sorry test kit???

  21. thanks for the reply packer ill call thursday afternoon. what would be a good time? i am a stone cold rookie when it comes to antique trucks, im gonna need lots of help. i love the ed pickup, what years did they make them, do all of them have wood?
