  1. Very nice pictures & story,Ron! Very distinctive colors and the famous "horseshoe" on front! Talked to a former horse carrier here in N. Illinois, and he remembered the "Ralph G. Smith" trucks. Thanks for sharing with us!
  2. Our plow guys here in the Chicago area are starvin' from the lack of snow, this year and last.We got about 6" on the ground at present time. Its getting washed down with a rain/sleet/snow mix today. Good luck out east there, guys. Drive safe!
  3. Your Chicago area R model of the day goes to..... Mid-West Tree Service,Inc. This RS started out to be a Crystal Lake (Il.) Ready-Mix truck.Meyer Material Co. (my employer) bought them out and disposed of their trucks. This truck and 1 other were the straightest of the bunch. Both have been converted into single axles,by their owners, for their second go around! These 300/6 speed trucks, really get with the program,as they are hauling much less now, than they're capable of! Brian Dhamer Photo
  4. I remember seeing those rear mounted lines Trent, on an outfit call "Handy Enterprises" out of Montana,I think. That looks like a clean set up,I just wonder how many drivers have hit their noggin, while hooking the lines up? All for eliminating any holes in the roof, also!
  5. ........You forgot about the AMX's,JT!!!! (bad American Motors joke, sorry)
  6. Pretty impressive,Ron,on the longevity of the family business
  7. As far as I know,Hank himself has not aswered Barry, has he? I think Barry has handled the situation very cool and professional, not to mention right to the point! Until BMT hears from Hank himself, I would consider this a non-issue brought forward by a couple of ladies, whose time of the month has caught them with no Midol in the medicine cabinet!
  8. I feel left out............ sniff.....sniff..........no message,no letter,no nuttin'! No Okachobee,No Vandertrump, story of my friggin' life! I did get an e-mail from this nice girlie,though..................it was then I realized,"who needs Okachobee or Vandertrump"? She wants to meet for drinks & shananigans...................HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?
  9. Enjoy some more Hendricksons!
  10. Yeah,Ron.The shop dog was probably drinking water out of them for years to come! Not to mention all the kids that shot at 'em with their Red Rider B-B guns! $HIT!
  11. Another....... Chicago area R model. This one belongs to Stade Farms Brian Dhamer Photo
  12. Jack, scanned the 2 out of the Icognografix books.Sorry about the poor quality.About the best I can do here at home. Icognografix Photo
  13. Seen Waylon( J.) @ the Puyallup Fair,Washinton State when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis in the early '80's. Great concert.Could see the back of the trailer from the stands, but never got around to see that black B! Yep,gotta get me one of those USB turntables,Bob! That H model has got to be out there, somewhere!
  14. I have a 237 for the BCR,just in case it's END673D W/aftermarket turbo should ever quit.Probably won't ever need it! (I hope)
  15. How about a big 'ol HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of you turnin' over a new number on your odometer today! Have a great day, unless you have other plans!
  16. I think jealous is the right term there,2stack!
  17. .........throw in a set of wires, cap, rotor and nice set of points while your at it! No feelings were hurt while making this photograph
  18. I've noticed the truckpaper.com recentley put an end to downloading their images, without a watermark on them.I contacted them in an e-mail,and asked if there was a way I could get that removed,as I download truck pictures as a hobby. They simply said ,"NO"! Glad I downloaded the ones I did! I guess some folks just don't understand the value of reference material they provide.Oh well.At least we have BMT!
  19. Yes,a Luber-Finer is a by-pass filter,Mac.
  20. Ah,yes! Thanks,Terry!
  21. Check on top of the auxillary drive, toward the front of the block, should be stamped right on the top ahead of the injection pump.Or was that just on the Thermodynes,I can't remember?
  22. I do remember some of those Olson trucks too,James. Olson Body was a div. of Olson Transportation, from what I gathered.Olson Body is still in business. On my way up to the U.P.,there is an old OLSON van trailer sitting in Pembine,Wis.,faded, but you can still see the colors/lettering on it.My B C R had an Olson Body Co. tag axle on it,but wasn't owned by Olson.Severson Transport out of Edgerton,Wis. owned the truck from '57-'97!.
  23. Me either,Bob.Love the Hoss's music.I know he had an addiction problem, but he said in an interview,he was cleaned up around '83-4 or so.He had a few more hits after that.Play 'em all the time.I have to get one of those newfangled turntables to digitize all my vinyl, next!
  24. and the Chicago area R model of the day goes to... Again, the former Commodity Transit. This RS left our area for a Tennesee truck dealer,by way of an auction. I think it was well worn as it left here! Cab was shot,as I remember. Had been a cool truck in its day though, for sure! Brian Dhamer photo
