  1. Looks great! It's green,Its a MACK,its OK by ME!!! Nice job on the old Super-Dog!
  2. Life of anything means little to the "Barbarians" of the world,be it a living thing,or something mechanical.
  3. I always liked the sister truck to this one also,Mark.Specs were identical:300,6 speed,38R,18F,210"wb.(both trucks were built as dump truck chassis). Both were eventually turned into tractors. The guy that ran the other truck had it for over 30 years! They were cool!
  4. Here is your Chicago area R model of the day.. Mike Dhamer's RS686LST.I never did get to see this one in person,as it was traded in before I was working here in N. Illinois..The sister to this truck ran around here for many years. It was painted the same, but no bunk.
  5. I'm sure shortly after deregulation,James.
  6. Ed- Heres a picture I downloaded of Bob,shinin' up his truck.Thought you might like it! Al
  7. Happy Birthday,David!
  8. December to April is maintainance time for the big road construction fleets. They were asking $12,500 @ piece for those 2 trucks. That was 4-5 years ago.I haven't been by there in a while to see if anything else is for sale.
  9. It looks like the same sticker inside the headliner in my KW! I never what it was about because it was so aged and distorted! Thanks Mike, for posting it.Now I see what its supposed to look like! Al
  10. No, Mike. All they run are R models! There isn't a sloped-nosed RD in the bunch! I think their last NEW fleet purchase was in '88 or '89.They haven't bought any new units since then. They usually run only from May-Nov.,then steam-cleaned & put away for winter (inside). If they do get run(like storkmack seen) they will be steamed and put inside.
  11. Oh,..........CRAP!!! LOL!!
  12. Just this one fuel truck. This had been a tractor at one time. But they needed a fuel truck so it got volunteered! This is typical of their R model paint jobs. They started painting them this way for 1976 and stuck with it.You won't confuse them with anybody else's trucks in the area,as storkmack says!
  13. Oh yeah. They're still running some square-tanked R models.I guess the foreigners come snoopin' around there. They just tell them,"hey,we're still using these trucks"!
  14. That is a sweatheart! Congrats!!
  15. Caught one too many cows!! LOL!!
  16. That IS a nice "survivor"!!
  17. Hows that for ESP,mackey?
  18. Your Chicago area R model(s) of the day belongs to... Greco Contractors. These 2 were for sale 4-5 years ago.Price was $12,500 a piece. They were in decent shape. One had 147,000 miles on it the other had racked up a whopping 250,000 miles!..They had bought 'em new.Think they were '75's or '76's.
  19. And your Chicago (or Chicagah) R model of the day belongs to... Marina Cartage
  20. Ah sh_t! I was gonna snag it for tomorrow!
  21. Yes it is,Mark.I also like the 1970 MACK Patriotic paint scheme.Sometime I wish I would have painted the BCR that way.
  22. Just goes to show,Old Macks Never Die-They Just Get Rebuilt and Put Right Back On The Job!
  23. Your Chicago R Model of the day belongs to... Lindahl Brothers (in a Bicentennial dress). This picture was taken from the DuPont Refinishers News in 1976.
  24. Congratulations Watt's ,on the award!! And thanks for BMT, its great!!
  25. Yep,those are the ones! I thought they were something you could get from a MACK dealer.Must have only been common out east, though.Never really seen 'em in the midwest. The ones shown here on Tom "Big Iron" Bronge's B-815 were constructed by Bill Schuldt. They turned out pretty good,I think. They have the bulldogs on 'em and you can still put your flags in 'em!
