  1. I had that on my '79 also,Matt. It has the pre-cleaner filter under the scoop for the tip-turbine,and the top section returns under the hood for a foul weather intake.Similiar to what the old oil baths had.I think it was a Canadian thing. The only trucks I've seen with that set up,were built in Oakville.I switched mine to a 2 stage, all in one, 300 series air cleaner.
  2. Lucky you,Mark! I got to go into a parts room of an outfit that was going under & got some great mechanical parts for the BCR.I was thankful for that. But usually I hear,"you should have been here last year(,week, month,or even yesterday),we through out a whole dumpster full of NOS MACK parts"! I applaud anybody that gets there before the roll-off truck does! Those "rookie poles" you talk about,do you remember who made those,Mark? I remember seeing those on new delivered trucks in the BULLDOG magazine in the '70's & '80's.
  3. I did ask about that on huskidrive.com a few years back and got all kind of response on that.Very interesting.
  4. So "clean" it almost looks like a "factory update".Nice job, whoever did it!
  5. And your Chicago R model of the day goes to.....Plote Excavating...... Mike Dhamer was the driver of this one.
  6. We don't need clown hats,Trent..........WE'RE ALREADY WEARING THEM!!!
  7. You could get either a MACK,Cummins,Detroit,or Cat in an RS700.And yes,it does have the longer hood!Thats a well preserved early one too, with the hinged grille and cut out in the bumper.Usually, someone smacks the front end and they replace it with the later style.I LIKE IT!!
  8. Look,Vinny, its a Canadian RD! Looks like my '79!...nice truck!
  9. Very Cool Connecticut trucks, love 'em! What does the state allow you(weight) on a 3 axle straight truck out there? Signed,Just Wonderin'!!!
  10. Oh,I'm sure he'll make it! Hell,I can't wait to see it!
  11. I hear you,BULLHUSK! Somewhere I have a letter from CUMMINS (Cross Logo letterhead) announcing the introduction of the KT-450('75).They listed all the manufacturers that were going to start offering the motor in their trucks.I remember MACK being one (Cruise-Liner) and I believe BROCKWAY was in there too(don't quote me on that)? I haven't seen that letter since Reagan was in office! Its around here somewhere!!
  12. Looks like a Landoll to me,Leslie. But there are so many copycats out there.
  13. We got 2 inches of freezing crap then the temps dropped to 14 degrees! Fun..........NOT!!
  14. I heard about that Brad, good for you! I don't have any,but John Fisher might! After all he bought it new(I know you know that already)...Just sayin'! LOL!!! No really, good save!
  15. Mark,Our local MACK dealer was sold to the The CTI Group.I haven't talked to anyone yet that had any problems as of yet.Maybe Storkmack can shed some light on them. The former owners son is the general manager for now,I guess. He is a definite MACK GUY all the way.He was working at the Grayslake,Ill. store since he could walk,I think. He would pull big fleet trucks out if I had a problem.Fix my truck, and kept reminding me that they were here for me!Try getting that out of one of these conglomerants!I hate to see the day they push him out.! Al
  16. I hope you never need it!! LOL
  17. Bruce's trucks were always shiny, drivers always wore uniforms-a class operation!
  18. I hear you,Vinny. It sounds like they started you off on the right foot, then dropped you like a bad habit.Bad business. All that old school way of doing business,is just about gone.Too bad for all involved!
  19. Oh yeah,Matt! Mack dealers such as the one where I took this picture, treated my cousin and I like gold! We would go in there, and start taking brochures out of the racks, when a salesman or even owner of the place would walk up to us and smile and ask how we were doing? Then proceed to give us a tour of the place, introduce us to all the employees there, and ask us questions to see if we were truly MACK people! It was a great time for a couple of 13 year olds!We would leave the dealership with enough reading material, novelties, and memories to last a lifetime. We both ended up owning & operating MACK trucks.Good investment for them, don't you think?
  20. Oh man! Well, truthfully ,unless you've got the money, place to store 'em,and more money to get them in the shape you like to run them in,we're going to have to face the ugly truth,mhe9,you know? Sad but true...sniff....sniff!
  21. Sorry,Vin.U models came in by the dozen, and got shoved into fleet service right away! They usually weren't ordered for dealer stock around the Green Bay area, anyway. You can see a bunch of DM's in the lot also. These were either destined to be tri or quad axle dumps, logging trucks,or milk trucks. Most day cab tractors on the lot at the time were R's.
  22. And your Chicago area R model of the day belongs to .... Bruce Nagel Trucking.......Bruce is the guy who purchased & runs Axle Equipment Sales Co,Inc.,today. He runs a fleet of clean, black,Visions or Pinnacles pulling Axle dump trailers. As far as I know he has never built any trailers for outside sales. He builds for his fleet only. I'm sure he rebuilds for all Axle owners. He has a complete shop with authorized Genuine MACK Parts & Service in Batavia,Il.
