  1. I believe that is the same shiftknob assembly used in the old Spicer air 4x4's.I rebuilt the knob for my KW,only to find out the trans was bad.OOPS! The rebuild kit through Weller Truck Parts ran me like $105.00 at the time (3 years ago).It came with the plastic knob (thats missing on yours)and the whole "guts" of the valve.
  2. This picture is of the first Super-Liner I saw up close after reading about it some 10 months earlier in OVERDRIVE magazine. It has the very same paint scheme as the truck on the cover of John Montville's book-MACK (the 2nd edition). The picture was taken at Green Bay Mack Sales (formally LaCombe Mack Sales),Green Bay,Wisc. in Sept of '78.Thought I'd put this one in for Superdog & all fans of the Super-Liner!
  3. Glad you like the info,Vin.

  6. Its a good runner too,Mark. It started out as Dean's Foods truck in '65 as an R607ST (-1036 to be exact!)Bill Schuldt and his late father Norm, rescued it from being a severely neglected yard horse in 1980.It had been parked next to a building that burnt and collapsed on it! Bill & his dad replaced the junk cab & hood and were soon using the truck daily in their operation. The END673P (187hp)/Duplex combo seemed to be lacking in the power department ,so they bought a 237 and mated it to a Quadbox (truck had 5.73's in it) and ran it that way for years! Its been replaced withn a set forward CH,but it is currently in the shed awaiting its next life!
  7. O K folks,I'm back.Had to take an excursion to the Hawkeye State(or the old MACK state, once you get down by Hwys 61 & 78!)).I'll have to give you 2 Chicago R models of the day,if thats alright?..........Earth Systems & a '65 R-Model belonging to Norm Schuldt & Son Excavating, right after it recieved its 3rd cab in the late '90's!
  8. Yep,ventilate 'em! If there somewhere they're not supposed to be,let 'em have it! If they still don't understand, shoot 'em again!Tell 'em you have a "zero tolerance for thugs" policy!

  10. Welcome ssgteverett,Bob Brown is the reason I joined the ATHS back in 1986! I was stationed at Ft. Lewis at the time and was just about ready to get out, when I figured I should at least stop by and say "hello" (or good-bye in my case). He and his wife were nicer than pie to me and I got to walk around and snap pictures all day and shoot the breeze with them.Nice people that I will never forget either. You wonder just how many people were influanced by Bob? He had a long history with Mack Trucks.I think in one account I read,he started as a mechanic at the old Seattle branch. And before too long, was running the whole place as the branch manager!Again, welcome!

  22. Happy Birthday (+ 1 day)!
  23. I found an old invoice for my father-in-law's second tractor that he and his father bought at the tail end of '77.The "new" to them tractor was a '76 that was a theft recovery. It was painted black over its Mack Red (factory),had a curved straight stack installed, and found in a barn some 300 miles away in Minnesota! Was a good truck .300,6 speed typical Chicago gravel spec. They had traded a well-worn '67 R609LST(tired 711 & quadbox) in on it.The price was a flat $30,000.00! With $4,000.00 as a trade in allowance for the '67(my father-in-law claims he and his dad got the better end of that deal!),for a grand total of $26,000.00 to be financed on a near-new truck! But the cab was so rotted (after 9 years in Chicago salt),it damn near fell off! He traded that one in on a brand new 1985 R688ST 350,9 speed!
